Presidency Reacts As Atiku Boycotts Presidential Debate Over Buhari’s Absence by miksol(m): 07:32 am On 1 Jan 2019
The Presidency has replied the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, on his reason for boycotting the ongoing presidential debate in Abuja.
DAILY POST reported that presidential debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) had President Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, Atiku missing out.
Atiku in a statement explained Buhari’s absence as his reason for boycotting the debate.
But, Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad, in a post while responding to a tweet by Atiku, wondered why the presidential candidate of PDP would boycott the debate because of Buhari’s absence.
Ahmad wrote: “Because of President Buhari’s absence, haba H.E sir, is the debate only meant for questioning President Bubari?
“Thought it is for you to tell Nigerians what you have to offer, or are you contesting to be the President of the Federal Republic of Buhari?
Meanwhile, presidential candidates participating in the ongoing debate are; Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Kingsley Moghalu of the Young Progressives Party (YPP)
