2019 Debate: Durotoye, Nigerians Attack Buhari, Atiku For Absence. by jamslek(m): 12:39 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Nigerians have reacted to the absence of Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari at the ongoing presidential debate in Abuja
- They attacked the duo for disrespecting the electorates and giving untenable excuses for their absence
- Among those who reacted were Fela Durotoye, Remi Sonaiya, Aisha Yesufu and among others
The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has become the subject of attack on Twitter following his decision to withdraw his presence at the presidential debate held on Saturday, January 19, in Abuja, The Punch reports.
Recall that Atiku had in a Twitter post defended his absence, citing the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC) as his reason for leaving the venue.
Reacting on social media platforms, Legit.ng gathers that Nigerians, who were not convinced by the reason given by the former vice president, blasted the duo of Buhari and Atiku for disrespecting the electorate.

One of those who attacked the two candidates is a former presidential candidate of KOWA party, Remi Sonaiya.
Commenting though her Twitter account, the retired professor of applied linguistics said: "But what if the incumbent had already spent 8 years and was no longer qualified to run? Would a debate then be unnecessary or useless? Debates are for candidates to present themselves to the electorate, sir! #2019Debate.
