Harry Kane Faces Lengthy Injury Layoff, Set For Scan On Ankle by Kingzkid10(m): 03:18 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Harry Kane is set for a scan on his ankle amid fears he is facing a lengthy injury lay-off.

Tottenham striker Kane is worried he has suffered serious ankle ligament damage which could keep him out for up to four weeks to wreck Spurs' season.

It comes with Tottenham facing a huge run of games in seven days which could make or break their season as they face Fulham next Sunday, the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Chelsea and then the FA Cup tie at Crystal Palace.

Kane’s ankle was still so badly swollen on Monday that the club could not do a scan on the damage and will not know the full extent until today at the earliest.

However, they are desperately hoping their worst fears are not confirmed that it is a grade two sprain which would keep him out for at least a month.

It comes at a time when Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is already facing a striker crisis as Heung-Min Son has gone to the Asia Cup for around a month with South Korea.

Pochettino says Vincent Janssen is not in his plans meaning that Fernando Llorente or using Lucas Moura as a “false nine” are his other alternatives.

Tottenham have already slipped behind in the title race and Chelsea are just one point behind with Manchester United closing the gap fast.

But Tottenham will also know that the domestic cups could represent their best chance of silverware but they could be without their main striker.

Tottenham are unlikely to look at signing a striker in January unless they can do a loan deal but they are praying that Kane will not miss another chunk of the season with an ankle problem, having sat out several weeks last term.
