Holly Willoughby's Fans Rush To Her Defence As 'insensitive' Trolls Criticise Her... by Truevine: 08:54 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The This Morning host, 38, shared a beaming Instagram snap of herself in one of the city's signature yellow taxis from her recent trip to Manhattan on Sunday, and captioned the image: 'See you Big Apple... thank you for having me... ❤️'.
While trolls claimed she hasn't shown 'much sign of grieving', her loyal fanbase hit back at the 'insensitive' comments and encouraged the presenter to 'have fun' following her sad loss.
Earlier this week, the mother-of-three shared an emotional tribute to her grandmother as she revealed her nan had passed away, and subsequently pulled out of Tuesday's This Morning to attend her funeral.
Criticising her choice to visit New York following the tragic death of her loved one, one social media user penned: 'Why would you say thank you for having me it’s a country ha ha odd Didn’t your tea. Pass away last week thought you would not be in the mood for holidays being such a family person ???'.
Another wrote on the site: 'I agree with jacquelinerowan not much sign of grieving.'
'Well us in Ireland have respect for the dead and have a period of grieving', a third added.
However, a legion of Holly's fans strongly disagreed with their remarks as one angered user shared: 'Are you for real? FYI lots of people post thank you for having me on their posts when they’ve been there. How insensitive of you to post your reply. What business is it if yours what Hollie does or where she goes.
'Just because someone passes away, people still go on holiday, go to work, take kids to school, eat, it’s called coping and you should not judge. What gives you the right to post what you did?, not very nice thing to post at all', they added.
Another argued: 'What so she’s got to stay at home and grieve, until when exactly? It’s been a month since her Nan passed, she has got to carry on with her own life with her own children!'
A third wrote: 'Really don’t understand why you would agree, but that is your opinion. Just bear in mind though that if you think a little further and think about how many of us have experienced grief and how we all deal with it in different ways...
'Just because you see someone smiling or laughing, doesn’t mean that’s what is going on inside... I can’t understand when people post negative insensitive remarks, it makes no sense at all. We just all need to be kind.'
'Don't listen to those comments u have a lovely time yr nan would want you 2 x', one fan encouraged.
Positive comments continued to flood the TV star's Instagram account, as another said: 'Glad you're out having fun, life goes on and your nan would want you to take every opportunity life brings I'm sure.. Hope you had a fab time!❤️
'I don't think this is the right platform to be displaying one's grief, more for happy photos which this is... nobody has ANY right to judge how others grieve.'
Earlier this week, Holly shared a picture of herself with her grandmother as she informed her Instagram followers that the matriarch had died aged 90.
Alongside the sweet image, she wrote: 'Today we say goodbye for a little while to my beautiful Nan...'
The blonde added: 'Go and be with Grandad... he's been waiting for you... love you... miss you...'
Following the heartbreaking news, Holly dropped out of hosting This Morning's Tuesday edition and was replaced by Rylan Clark-Neal today, who joined Phillip Schofield to present the show.
Addressing Holly's absence, Phillip told viewers: 'Holly's not here today. Sadly her nan has passed away and today's the funeral.
'We're sending lots of love to Holly's family and especially her mum Lynne.'
