Barcelona Eye Surprise Move For Nigerian Striker Ighalo As Munir's Replacement by Glory2019: 08:11 am On 1 Jan 2019
The 29-year-old spent the last two years in
China scoring 36 goals in 55 appearances
for Changchun Yatai
Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo is
reportedly wanted by Barcelona as they
shop for Munir El Haddadi and Denis
Suarez's replacement this month.
The Changchun Yatai forward scored 21
goals and assisted one other in 28
Chinese Super League matches last
season.
Despite his double figure goals in the
CSL last campaign, they were unable to
save his team from relegating after
finishing 15th on the log.
According to Sport-English.com, the
Catalans want a low-cost option to
complete the squad and the Nigerian
international has emerged as an option.
Before joining Changchun Yatai, Ighalo
spent close to three seasons with
Premier League side Watford - scoring
33 topflight goals in 82 matches.
The publication further reveals that the
29-year-old has many offers to return to
China, where he spent the last two
years.
Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata is another
option for the Camp Nou side as the
Premier League side want to offload
him.
Barca were said to have been
monitoring the Nigerian forward while
he was at Granada. He scored 12 and 15
goals in his two season with Watford,
who sold him to China for 25m.
Ighalo was part of the Super Eagles
squad at the World Cup, and has
emerged as top target for the La Liga
side who are looking for a back up for
Luis Suarez.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Super
Eagles striker Odion Ighalo wants a
return to Premier League after
spending two years in the Chinese Super
League.
The ex-Watford forward left Vicarage
Road to join Changchun Yatai after
falling out with the then Hornets
manager Walter Mazzarri.
But 29-year-old wants a new challenge
in England despite scoring an
impressive 36 goals in 55 matches for
his Chinese side.
