The best ever player

Pets Lovers / Ways To Know When Someone Likes You (last Chapter) by abshlugga: 09:36 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Know the type. Some people don’t put up with the “do they like you” game, and go straight for the punch. Some people just aren’t shy at all! This type might be the “player” who is just good at saying things you want to hear.[8]
Be suspicious of this type if they pull out a stock of pick up lines and you feel them trying to manipulate you.

Spot the signs. Whether or not you want them to like you, you need to handle it with respect. Nobody likes a jerk. Here are some signals that they like you:
They constantly talk to you to the point where it’s on the border of being annoying.
They blush at the smallest things you do or say to them.
You catch them staring at you and then smiling or making a funny face when you notice.
They show no fear of starting a conversation.
They might ask you to hang out and/or give you their number.
Decide who’ll make a move. Never feel the need to wait around if you like someone. Waiting for the other person to ask you out is overrated. Take advantage of the life you’re given. Invite them out for coffee or to go catch a movie.
If you’re not interested and you know they like you, don’t ignore them! Be open and honest about your feelings. Treat them with respect and don’t lead them on.

Pets Lovers / Ways To Know When Someone Likes You (chapter 3) by abshlugga: 09:34 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Identify the shy type. This type isn’t going to be open to you and admit they like you. These are the kind of people who occasionally make small talk with you. You might even catch them looking at you once in awhile.
Usually these types of people don’t date often. When they do, they tend to hold onto a relationship for a while.
You can usually tell this type by the way they act around their friends in comparison to being around crushes.

Look for signs that they like you. These people aren’t being deliberately shy. Some people don’t have as much confidence. You shouldn’t dismiss them because of it. A shy or awkward person might show you they like you when:
They say hey occasionally, but say it quietly where you can hardly understand them.
They might blush when you talk to them or touch them.
You catch them staring at you. If they turn away when they noticed you’re looking at them, they were looking at you.
They may ask you for help on things they already know the answer to.

Notice if they look for attention. Someone who likes you may do something to have you notice them. Watch if they talk louder when you’re nearby, or starts laughing with their friends when you’re around.
They may not talk to you on a social website, but they’ll “like” a bunch of things you do online.

Realize that some people are afraid of rejection. Some people will do almost nothing to show you they like you because they are afraid of rejection and heartbreak.
This happens often with younger people who haven’t realized rejection is part of life.

Watch for the signs. Even though this type of person won’t be too obvious, there are still clues to tell they like you. Pay attention for the following signals:
Bumping into you slightly just to be able to touch you.
Taking the seat beside you even though there are other choices. If they’re brave, they might even inch closer to you over time.
Being the first to notice when you are sad or upset, since they pay attention to you.

Pets Lovers / Ways To Know When Someone Likes You(chapter 2) by abshlugga: 09:31 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Realize friends can become “more than friends.” This is a common pattern to occur. People oftentimes think they are only friends, while one of them develops intense feelings for the other.

Watch for a few clear signs. Here are some signs that a friend has fallen for you:
Touching your shoulders and ask for hugs.
Offering their sweater or coat in a chivalrous way.
Making jokes about the people/person you are dating.
Inviting you over more often.
Kissing you on the cheek or asking for kisses on the cheek.
Asking who you like, a lot.

Watch for insecurities. This may go with all types of attraction, but it especially happens in a friend dynamic. They might check your reactions to things consistently. For example, they’ll look at you to see if you laugh when they make a joke.
Be careful if you hear them talk about insecurities in their appearance. They might be self-deprecating and compare themselves to someone you find attractive.

Have a talk. If you find that you actually like them, then that is great and you should tell them. If, on the other hand, you just want to be friends, you’ll need to be careful.
Honesty is the best policy. Don’t tiptoe around the elephant in the room. Be upfront about the way you feel and how much you appreciate your friendship.

Pets Lovers / Ways To Know When Someone Like You (chapter 1) by abshlugga: 09:29 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Knowing whether or not someone likes you can be difficult. If you’re afraid to ask them, there are a few things you can look out for that may be signs the other person is into you.

Understand body language. 93% of all communication is nonverbal.[1] This is broken down to their tone of voice, face, body, and finally their words. Men and women share some forms of body language, but also have specific subconscious signals they’ll give off if they like you.

Detect a woman’s signals. Women are capable of over fifty signals conveyed through body language. While not all of these will be able to be detected, there are a few recognizable quirks you can find. Some of the bigger indicators to look for on a date or in conversation is:
She’ll pull up her sleeves and expose her wrist. This is a good signal, and most women are unaware that they do this. This exposes one of the more tender and sensitive parts of the body.
She will try to close the distance between you in some way. This can be done in many ways like moving her drink or a menu closer to you.[2]
She’ll find a way to touch you. Some women will do this smoothly. For example she says “come here” and she’ll show you an app on her phone. Then when you’re near your bodies may touch.

Detect a man’s signals. Men are less equipped with a range in body language. One signal to watch out for is when the guy pushes his shoulders back and directs his breath to his chest. Another strange one is when a guy puts his fingers through his belt loops like a cowboy.

Watch for eye contact. Eye contact is the universal body language clue that can communicate so much. Both men and women will use eye contact when they like someone. Try not to hold contact for too long, or else you might ruin the mystique around it. The biggest give away is if he looks at you and you both hold eye contact for a moment and suddenly look away.

Education / Here Is How To Develop A Very Good Communication Skills by abshlugga: 09:26 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Having good communication skills is important. They can help you with presentations in class, during job interviews, when handling arguments, and in a variety of other situations. Fortunately, there are some tricks you can use to improve your communication skills so you come across as more confident and friendly.

Know what communication really is. Communication is the process of transferring signals/messages between a sender and a receiver through various methods (written words, nonverbal cues, spoken words). It is also the mechanism we use to establish and modify relationships.

Have courage to say what you think. Be confident in knowing that you can make worthwhile contributions to conversation. Take time each day to be aware of your opinions and feelings so you can adequately convey them to others. Individuals who are hesitant to speak because they do not feel their input would be worthwhile need not fear. What is important or worthwhile to one person may not be to another and may be more so to someone else.

Practice. Developing advanced communication skills begins with simple interactions. Communication skills can be practiced every day in settings that range from the social to the professional. New skills take time to refine, but each time you use your communication skills, you open yourself to opportunities and future partnerships.

Jokes / Get People’s To Dream About You (final Chapter) by abshlugga: 09:21 pm On 1 Jan 2019
6.
Let your unique characteristics shine. Whether you like bold glasses or own 20 cats, it’s the things that make you unique that make you memorable. Don’t be afraid to show that side to the person you want to dream about you.
7.
Be authentic. That is, don’t hide your opinion or thoughts. Being who you really are will help you stand out.[8]
For instance, if the person you are trying to get to notice you asks you what movie you like, don’t just say, “Oh, you know, comedies.” Be specific: “I really liked the latest Star Trek movie. I know a lot of Trekkies hated it, but I loved the story line.”
8.
Give the person a compliment. People like being told nice things about themselves, and you will increase your chances of being memorable if you do compliment someone.
9.
Do something unusual. To stick in someone’s mind, you need to stand out from the crowd. Therefore, you need to do things out of the norm. Wear a silly hat around the person. Bake a cake for him or her. Do something that makes him or her remember you in particular.
10.
Listen intently. One way to show you are interested in a person is to listen intently. You show you genuinely care about what the person thinks or says. Because this quality is rare, it will help you stand out.
11.
Try a hook. If you’re just meeting a person, give them a memorable piece of information about yourself. The best kinds of hooks are funny.[12]
For instance, say you’re meeting a friend of your sister at a gathering in Arizona. You could say, “Hi, I’m Carrie’s sister from Oklahoma. I tried to leave the tornadoes behind, though.”
12.
Pick interesting topics. When starting up a conversation, move away from questions about the person’s job or the weather. Instead, try more interesting topics, such as a local play that’s running or a great book you just read.

Jokes / Get People To Dream About You ( Chapter 1) by abshlugga: 09:18 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Getting someone to dream about you can be difficult. You can try to influence other people’s dreams, but it may not work, as the subconscious creates dreams to deal with problems you’re facing.[1] Nonetheless, you can try the tricks in this article to influence someone you know, first by getting into the person’s mind before he or she goes to sleep and second by being memorable in general.
1.Try giving the person a picture of yourself. This trick will work better if he or she places you on his or her nightstand. If you are the last image a person sees before she sleeps, she’ll be more likely to dream about you.
2.Call or text the person near bedtime. If you talk to the person before he sleeps, he’s more likely to be thinking about you when he goes to sleep.
3.Talk to the person. Wait until the person is in deep sleep. While the person is dreaming, try saying something to them quietly, such as “Dream of Nicky” or “Didn’t Nicky look pretty tonight?” Don’t be loud enough to wake them up.[4]
The reason this may work is because you tend to incorporate sounds and sensations into your dreams. Therefore, if you use your voice to talk to a person, you may be able to trigger your image in her mind.
4.Use a characteristic smell. Whether you have a signature perfume or you prefer a particular soap, introduce the scent to the sleeping person. Like sounds, smells can be incorporated into dreams, and if it reminds the person of you, you may show up in his dream.
5.Record a video of yourself. If you can get the person to play it before bed, you may be able to encourage the person to dream about you.
6.Leave a memento that reminds the person of you. For instance, leave your favorite necklace behind that reminds him of you. Try leaving it on his nightstand to n him of you before you go to sleep.

13.
Inform your manager when you complete goals and projects. Focus on achieving your goals and make sure you let your manager know when you complete something worthy of mention.[13]
Regular communication with your manager will help you make course corrections.
At the end of your 90-day plan, show your manager what you have accomplished.
14.
Don’t act like a know-it-all. Even if you are one of the most qualified people at the company, avoid coming off as cocky or arrogant.[14]
You are expected to be humble and learn as much as you can.
You will get a lot of time later on to show your genius.
Listen carefully and talk less.
15.Avoid trying to do take on too much work. Don’t constantly stay late just to show that you are committed.[15]
The expectations you set at the beginning can go a long way, so make sure you are putting in quality time, instead of just a large quantity of time.
16.
Withdraw from gossip. You will find friends in your new workplace, but always remember to present yourself as professionally as possible.[16]
Don’t speak negatively about your coworkers or boss.
If you have legitimate complaints, address them directly with those involved.
17.Stay positive about the company. Even if you don’t agree with things that are happening within the company, or the direction that it’s going, don’t speak negatively about what is going on in the organization.[17]
Avoid making too many comparisons with your old job, and work to create positive change where you can.

7.Conduct an informational interview with your boss. Conducting an informational interview with your boss can help you develop your road map based on your boss’s vision for the company and your role.[5]
This will also go a long way towards developing a healthy professional relationship with your boss.
Your plans and goals will be accomplished in the best possible manner if you line them up well with his or her needs.
You can gain an edge by learning how you can help him or her succeed and how you can collaborate.
Get information about what they want, what their approach is towards routine work and assignments, and how you can go the extra mile to exceed expectations.
8.
Draft a 30/60/90 day plan to map out your success. Your early conversations with your manager should focus on creating a plan for your first 90 days at work, and track those goals on a monthly basis.[6][7]
You should clearly state what you intend to accomplish in those first three months.
Your plan should also reflect your interactions with your teammates.
For example, you should include a goal of maintaining focused listening to earn your coworkers’ trust and demonstrate that you are a 100% committed team player.
This will ensure that you are accepted gladly and warmly.
9.
Set realistic goals with your boss. Your career-related goals should be set in collaboration with your boss, so that you can find common ground with him or her.[8]
Get your goals reviewed by your boss so that you get their stamp of approval.
Your boss can also let you know which goals require slight modification in light of your job duties and the organization’s culture.
You should set a reasonable bar of accomplishment that is neither too high nor too low.
10.Expand your network and include your coworkers. Make sure to avoid limiting your communication to only your bosses, rather include everyone who has a good eye on the health of the company.[9][10]
Connect with people who can offer information and advice beyond the regular communication channels like company listserves.
Sometimes a job title might not clearly demonstrate the influence your colleague may have.
It’s your duty to gain a deeper understand of each person by digging deeper into your relationships with each individual.
11.Extend your assistance to those who need it. If someone can benefit from your assistance or advice, help them out to gain their respect and trust.[11]
Go beyond your normal responsibilities and offer to help people with their projects, as long as your own work will not go unattended.
Go out of your way to tell people that you are willing to help, even if it demands some extra effort on your end.
12.Thank people for their help habitually. Irrespective of anyone’s job title, whenever someone extends a helping hand, make sure to return a thank you.[12]
You should show your colleagues the respect they deserve and indicate that you are grateful when they do something for you.

Business/Investments / Be A Successful At A New Job (chapter 1) by abshlugga: 08:58 pm On 1 Jan 2019
How to Be Successful at a New Job:
Once you have absorbed all the orientation material on the very first day of your job, it’s time to hit the road with a concrete plan of action. You shouldn’t undermine the significance of the first few days of your job, since this is the best time to create a solid first impression. If you come out of the gates strong, you will prompt your coworkers to collaborate with you and enable your success at work.
1.Understand your role thoroughly to gain a comprehensive vision. The most important thing for you to do at first is to understand your role from multiple perspectives.
This will allow you to develop a plan for what you intend to do over the course of your tenure with the company.
Your plan should not be limited to your job description, but should include a vision of how your work relates to other people within the organization.
For example, certain reports that you will create at the end of the month may be used by a team in another department.
Therefore, it’s imperative that your vision accounts for the impact of your work throughout the entire company.
2.
Learn about the business to see the big picture. Take time to learn about the business’s history and understand what the business stands for.[1]
You should know the details of the products and services that the company exists to deliver.
Learning about the business will give you a chance to understand how your role fits into the bigger picture.
3.Make one-on-one connections. Don’t just show up at work and sit in your cubicle all day long without talking to anyone.[2]
Though it’s important to do your work, you should also branch out and talk to your colleagues.
After you establish yourself as a reliable and hard-working employee, take some time to go out and interact with your coworkers in a non-professional setting.
Try inviting them out to lunch, or for drinks after work.
Getting to know them on a personal level will make sure they know who you are.
4.
Build relationships with people in key positions. Meeting and building relationships with the movers and shakers within the business is a great way to gain connections and business insight.[3]
Get to know the the people who run the show and have decision-making authority, to gain insight regarding how the business is run and decisions are made.
5.
Understand the expectations of your bosses. Although building relationships with your superiors is a great way to make connections, you should also spend time learning about what they expect from you.[4]
This can include the expectations listed in your job description, as well as expectations that are more informal, such as networking and offering your help.
If you can help your bosses achieve their goals, this will be a huge plus for you.
6.
Stay proactive to maximize your time on the job. You should start accomplishing your goals and making connections as soon as possible to get the greatest benefit from your position.
You have the first few days on the job to create a good impression and understand everything you need to be successful in the time ahead.

Education / Enhance Your Beuty And Looks (final Chapter) by abshlugga: 08:54 pm On 1 Jan 2019
6.Project your beauty. Feel good, feel pretty and that’s what the world will see. If you feel ugly, that’s what people will see. Try to look as good as you can. There are ways to live in beauty without being obsessive about it.
7.
Find supportive friends. What people say, whether intentional or not, make us feel good or bad about ourselves. Look for people who make you feel good when you’re down. This person will give you compliments. If you’ve done something different or if you’re wearing something new, they will notice it. Keep these compliments and they will build your self esteem.
8.
Listen to your inner voice. Each of us has a voice inside our head that will give us advice. This is like a therapist. It will guide us in the right direction. It will calm us down, cheer us up and even help us figure out why we’re overeating or not bothering to iron our clothes. The problem is that we often don’t take the time we need to hear this important information. Schedule some quiet time in a leisurely bath or walk, or even while putting on your make-up. Treat this intuition as an inner cheering section.
9.
Take a break! Relax. At least twice a day, set aside five minutes to recheck your make-up, hair, posture and clothing. No matter how impeccably you started out your day, a touch is both necessary and warranted. Take some deep breaths to renew and restore your appearance.
10.
Smile. When you smile you look confident and pretty. Take advantage of this!.
11.
Learn easy beauty tips yourself using things you have at home. (These are convenient, money saving and work!) Some good ones are; An egg. Which is brilliant as a facial- crack the egg in half and separate the egg whites and yolk. Roughly whisk the egg white in a bowl and apply to your face (leave on for approximately 5 minutes). Wash off with slightly warm water. Next apply the yolk (which is a great moisturizing ingredient) leave on for again 5 minutes then wash with lightly warm water. Another is a Tomato; wash your face with slightly warm water. Cut the tomato in half and rub gently around your full face (this can be done 2/3 per week a gentle exfoliator) leave on for 10 minutes to soak up the goodness and then lightly rinse face with warm water, then freezing cold (to close your beautiful pores!). Finish off with your favorite skin appropriate moisturizer. Learn more easy home-made beauty tips online.
12.
Tell yourself you’re beautiful. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Remember, you can’t please everyone nor should you try. No one else’s opinion of you matters but your own. You are beautiful just the way you are, so tell yourself that every chance you get until you believe it. Hope this helps, stay beautiful!.

Education / Enhance Your Beuty And Looks (chapter 1) by abshlugga: 08:49 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Ever wanted to see how beautiful you really are? Mukhtar will teach you ways to enhance your natural beauty; after all, the goal is generally not to construct a whole new face and look, but simply build on what you already have going for you. By establishing a hygiene/cosmetic routine and fostering confidence, you will be able to really accentuate your best physical features.
Below are the steps to be followed:
1.
Clear up your skin. Pick products made for your skin type (oily, dry, combination, normal) in order to achieve the best results. Wash your face no less than two times a day; in the morning and before you go to bed. Be gentle. If you scrub really hard you will only irritate your skin. Don’t ever sleep with your make-up on. Your pores will get clogged and you’ll start breaking out. After washing your face, use a good moisturizer that is made for your skin type. If you have blackheads or whiteheads, try using Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.
2.
Keep yourself properly groomed. Wash your hair as often as needed. Don’t let it get greasy. Use deodorant. Moisturize your skin daily. It’s best to do this after you shower because your skin is still damp and the lotion will soak in easily. Grooming your nails is also important. Keep them cut short and buff them once every couple of weeks to keep them smooth and nice. Push back your cuticles to prevent hangnails. Don’t ever cut them! If you like nail polish, try using a sheer pink color or clear coat them. If you use a sheer pink color, use one coat so the natural color variations of your nails show through. It really does look nice.
3.
Fix up your hair. When getting your hair cut, make sure you know exactly what you want. If you’re not sure then ask your hairdresser for a cut that will go with your face shape. Don’t dye your hair; keep it natural. If you must, find a color that’s close to your natural color, only better. Try not to use heat devices to style your hair. You can look up tutorials on curling or straightening your hair without heat on YouTube. Don’t spend a ton of time styling your hair. The whole point is to bring out your natural beauty. Find a way to rock your natural style.
4.Compliment yourself with make-up. Find your favorite facial feature and capitalize on it. Don’t overdo it; if you go one day without all the makeup, everybody will notice and their thoughts won’t be very good. If your teeth aren’t as white as they could be, don’t wear bright lipstick. This will draw attention to the contrast. Instead, for example, wear a dark mascara. This will bring out the intensity/ beauty of your eyes.
5.
Do one thing for yourself everyday! Make yourself do it. It’s the ultimate act of self-respect. Soak in the bubble bath or read an inspiring book. These little pleasures allow you to feel special. You can fake it if you need to until you actually feel deserving of it. Whatever you choose, follow the action by writing down what you did and how it made you feel. Make it your own “attitude file”. Include stories, quotes from friends and photographs that have made you feel good about yourself.

Weird News / How My Family Crashed My Marriage – Victim Shares Touching Story Every Woman Mus by abshlugga: 08:28 pm On 1 Jan 2019
This is a true life story of a woman who is lamenting her ordeal after getting divorced by her husband due to her ego and bad advice from people around her.

Read her story as shared on Kfb below:

I am 32 years old. Me and my ex hubby dated for six years, I started dating him whilst I was in grade 12, I was 19 years old. We were best of friends, I waited until he completed college and started work, my family and his family then met, we got married and had a son (7 years old now).

My husband was short tempered at times, but our problems started when I wanted to make him feel he can’t control me. Every time we argue, I would pack my bags, go to my family and explain.

My sisters would phone my husband and ridicule. If he talks I would always dare him that if you wish divorce me – I never wanted divorce, I just had pride and I never wanted to look a lose in his eyes.

One day I pushed him so had that for the first time he beat me and lock me out side, I went to my family, my family took him to police, every time I pretend like I am being abused! But to be honest, I used to abuse my husband emotionally.

He was arrested and detained. I was asked by his family to withdraw the case, I felt that what I was doing is wrong. My husband was never a violent man, he did what he did because I pushed him too much too hard. I withdrew the charge, and we reconciled.

After three months, I packed my bags after a small issue, and he remained alone. After two days I received a call that he is in hospital, [but] my family told me that I shouldn’t go there because it will look like am begging him, and my sisters claimed he is faking the illness even without seeing him.

All this time, people felt sorry for me like I was the one being abused. He spent a week in hospital, after he came out, I just received a divorce summon. I wanted to say no to divorce, but because I felt this pride, I wanted him to change his mind and beg me, I called him and say he will get the divorce, I pretend like am in hell in his house.

When we went to court, I wanted to make him pay, so I told the court that I needed his properties to be shared. To my surprise he openly told the court that whatever he and me acquired together should be given to me, all he wanted was divorce.

We got divorced in 2009 July. Now, this Saturday (July 16) my husband is getting married again, whilst I am here “wasted”! My family are gossiping about me, I depend on what my ex gives to my son for survival. I know I wasted my marriage. I am here telling all wives to be careful how you get advise. Don’t be deceived by those close to you. Even my young sisters are much more respected than me. Those who encouraged me to divorce my husband are always bad mouthing me now.

There is no benefit in Pride and Ego for a woman in marriage. I learnt my lessons a bit late!

Sports / Egypt To Build Museum In Honour Of Mohamed Salah! by abshlugga: 08:18 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will have a museum build in his honour in Egypt.
The 27-year-old picked up his second consecutive African Player of the Year award last week after his stunning performances in 2018.
Salah scored 32 goals in the Premier League last season – a record for a 38-game season.
However, Egpyt Sports Minister Ashram Sobhy says Salah deserves the honour because everybody in his home country is proud of his footballing exploits.
“The surprise that I was preparing for Salah is the construction of a museum bearing his name at the Gezira Youth Centre in Cairo,” he said.
“Salah is delivering outstanding performances with both Liverpool and the national team.
“All Egyptians are proud of his achievements.
“I hope that winning this year’s title [of Africa’s best player] will be a big boost for him to continue his achievements, and to deliver more outstanding performances at club level – as well as with the national team in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt next June.”
MySportDab report Salah secured a place for Egypt in their first World Cup since 1990 when his late penalty saw them beat Congo 2-1 in qualifying in October 2017.

Also, the women’s team of Sporting Club started their return to the first division on a good note by claiming the Portuguese Cup at the expense of GD Toledos in the finals played at the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Póvoa de Varzim.

The 2018 semifinalist in the ETTU Champions League were in fine form against GDCS Juncal with Nigerian superstar – Aruna Quadri championing the onslaught against their opponent.
Playing the first game against Russian Andrei Bukin, Aruna Quadri wasted no time to dismiss the Russian with a 3-0 (11-5, 11-2, 11-6) bashing.
But it was not same story for Diogo Carvalho who had to dig deep to defeat Romanian Mihai Sargu 3-2 (11-4, 8-11, 11-2, 11-13, 11-7).
The partnership of Bode Abiodun and Diogo Carvalho completed the rout for Sporting when they overcame the duo of David Bessa and Andrei Bukin 3-0 (11-2, 11-4, 11-9) to lift the trophy for the fifth time in a row.

From 1992-1993 the team “leonina” did not win the Cup.
The coach of Sporting women’s team Marco Rodrigues said: “It is very good to win again the Portuguese Cup for Sporting Clube de Portugal, after so many years of interruption.”
Sporting Director, Miguel Almeida added: “These two titles are very important, because they were a goal of the section and the club, which enters to win in all the races in which it participates. In the female case it was even more important because it is the first year in which, after we were absent from the 1st division, we returned victoriously. We are working to win the remaining titles until the end of the season.”

10 Amazing Facts You Probably Don’t Know About Nigeria

Nigeria is a great nation with great people and amazing cultures. But there are so many things you don’t know about Nigeria and that is why I will share with you these facts about nigeria.

1) Nigeria has upto seven percent (7%) of the total languages spoken on earth. Taraba state alone has more languages than 30 African countries.

2) Yoruba has the highest rate of twin births in the world. Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births.

3) Anambra Waxbill | Birding Buddies: The Anambra waxbill, a small bird of many beautiful colours, is found only in Southern Nigeria and nowhere else on earth.

4) Sarki Muhammad Kanta The Great of Kebbi, was the only ruler who resisted control by Songhai, West Africa’s greatest empire at that time. He founded and ruled the Hausa city-state of Kebbi around 1600 A.D and built Surame its capital, a planned city which was almost impossible to penetrate during war. In fact UNESCO describes Surame as “one of the wonders of human history, creativity and ingenuity”, and probably the most massive stone-walled constructions in West Africa. He is listed in Robin Walker’s 50 Greatest Africans.

5) The Jos Plateau Indigobird, a small reddish-brown bird, is found nowhere else on the planet but Plateau state, Nigeria.

6) The Niger Delta (which is the second largest delta on the planet), has the highest concentration of monotypic fish families in the world, and is also home to sixty percent of Nigeria’s mangrove forests. You should know too that Nigeria’s mangrove forests are the largest in Africa and third largest on earth.

7) According to the World Resources Institute, Nigeria is home to 4,715 different types of plant species, and over 550 species of breeding birds and mammals, making it one of the most ecologically vibrant places of the planet.

8) Ile-Ife, in present day Osun State, was paved as early as 1000AD, with decorations that originated from Ancient America suggesting there might have been contact between the Yorubas and the Ancient Americans half a millenium before Columbus ‘discovered’ America.

9) Sungbo’s Eredo, a 160 km rampart equipped with guard houses and moats, is reputed to be the largest single pre-colonial monument (or ancient fortification if you like) in Africa. It is located in present-day Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and when it was built a millennium ago, it required more earth to be moved during construction than that used for building the Great Pyramid of Giza (one of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World). The most astonishing thing is that Sungbo’s Eredo was the biggest city in the world (bigger than Rome and Cairo) during the Middle Ages when it was built!

10) The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD) in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long.

Business/Investments / Read Business Lessons From Jeff Bezos Recent News As The World’s Richest Man. by abshlugga: 07:46 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Even if it was for a day, or less he made history by upstaging Bill Gates as the world’s richest man. That was at the tail end of July, 2017. Indeed, when he clinched the prestigious TIME Magazine’s Man-of-the Year award at the turn of the century, back in December, 1999, Jeffery Preston Bezos was worth a hundred million dollars ($100m). But now his net worth is a whopping $86.7 billion!

Also noteworthy is the fact that as at 1999, Bezos was 35 and ranked as the fourth youngest individual, behind Charles Lindberg(25), Queen Elizabeth 11 (26), Martin Luther King Jnr.(34), to be so honoured. Described as “the king of cyber commerce”, what matters to us are the lasting lessons to glean from his phenomenal rise to the top rung of the global corporate ladder with a short span of 18 years. Just how did it begin to roll, for Bezos?

As typical of most successful entrepreneurs over the decades, it all started with a flicker of the light of an IDEA in the dark. Yes, a veritable idea many would have glossed over. It was on a summer day in 1994 that the young Bezos decided to quit his, otherwise, lucrative job at a New York investment firm, packed up his belongings and with his wife, Mac Kenzie driving, headed to Seattle buoyed with the idea to sell books, music CDs and videos over the internet.

Let us recall that smart business men such as Bill Gates and Mac Zukerberg, whose companies are currently breathing down the neck of Bezos’ Amazon.com, similarly took the decision to leave either school or their businesses to start off on their own. What does that teach us all? The COURAGE TO START the business always does it. Winners do not wait for conditions to be perfect before delving into the murky waters of business.

As usual too, other investors who heard about selling products over the internet thought Bezos must be crazy! Long before him, Edwin Land was told by his friends that the idea of creating an instant Polaroid camera was off the mark. But he did not listen to them. Only some six months after they tried to discourage him he showed them the product of his fecund imagination. His Polaroid instant camera went on sale in late 1948 and made it possible for a picture to be taken and developed in 60 seconds or less. Entrepreneurs who would succeed are NOT EASILY DISCOURAGED.

Unknown to the naysayers, Bezos had peered into the intricate maze of the World Wide Web and saw the future of retailing literally exploding right before him. It was similar to far-sighted minds before him, much like Cornelius Vanderbilt saw the railroads coming up or Thomas Watson saw the huge potentials in computers adorning offices and homes. Mark you, that Bezos was not the only man to see the vast opportunities inherent in e-commerce, or what TIME magazine dubbed ‘the power of electrified commerce’. No. Pierre Omidyar of e-Baynoticed it too. But it was Bezos who took up the gauntlet and went for the kill. He did not wait or dither to SEIZE THE MOMENT.

That is another hallmark of successful men such as Conrad Hilton who wasted no time after enjoying his stay in a cozy hotel to diversify his business to the hospitality industry.

That year alone (1999), Americans spent $15 billion buying consumer goods online. US businesses jerked up by $109 billion and boasted a retail market worth a staggering $2.7trillion! As Americans spend $5 billion online exchanging Christmas gifts, Bezos known for his characteristic, explosive laughter smiled all the way to the bank, as his Amazon.com stock price soared to$94.

In fact, critical observers agreed that part of Bezos’ instant success in e-commerce was because he got his company starting up on a sound footing with a thorough thinking through. “His online retailing universe was so complete, so elegant and appealing, that it became, from Day One, the point of reference for everyone who has anything to sell online”. Like Steve Jobs (of blessed memory) would enthuse, it always pays to GET ONE’S BUSINESS RIGHT FROM THE OUTSET.

Another salient factor that defines the ship of a successful business is for the pilot not to be confounded or overwhelmed by the storms that would naturally escalate along the course of the journey. There may be hurdles along the path of growing one’s business. For instance, experts on the US economy told Bezos that he could lose as much as $350 billion in the first year alone but he was unfazed by it all.

He told them instead that he foresaw the profitability of selling books, CDs and videos and just one year after, in 2000, he was proved right. As John Harold Johnson, the late publisher of Ebony magazine has rightly noted: “The higher the obstacles we overcome, the greater the glory”. How true.

As the company grew Bezos PREPARED FOR COMPETITION from others, such as Adornis.co, that sold luxury items, Buy.com, Shopnow.com, Home Groceries.com and Della.com that sold wedding materials. By lowering the prices of products just like Sam Walton did he drove more customers to Amazon.com. And to cut off completion from those who would sell lower he formed ‘Marketing Clubs’ for which each member pays $30 a year, providing more access to the site’s rich data and technology. That is INNOVATION.

With his EYES FIXED ON THE FUTURE, Bezos meticulously planned for expansion to include other items. These are cars, washing machines, model airplanes and rubber gaskets, except firearms and some live animals. Beyond products Amazon delved into services such as banking, insurance and travels.

Now, the king of cyber commerce is laughing all the way to the bank. You must have learnt a lesson or two from him; haven’t you?
