New Higher Institutions Won't Pose Threats For Ihedioha- OkorochaBy Mod - 27 minutes ago - [ Politics Education ]

 

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday said that the newly established twelve higher institutions of learning established by his administration will not pose any problem for the incoming government of Emeka Ihedioha.

Okorocha speaking to newsmen at Government House, Owerri, inaugurated a team headed by Professor Chima Iwuchukwu to work towards the take-off of the higher institutions within two weeks by getting the approval from the National Universities Commission, NUC.

He also promised a hitch-free transition, saying: “I will guarantee a hitch-free transition. I am still the governor till May 29. It is not what anybody should be afraid of. It will be done according to the constitution.”

Okorocha noted that part of the plan of his administration was to engage investors in the education sector under the Public Private Partnership, PPP, as backed by the law established by the Imo State House of Assembly.

He stated that investors in the education sector would partner with the government to ensure that the standard is maintained in the new higher institutions.

According to Okorocha, “With these institutions put in place, the dreams of our people would have been achieved. Education will remain the industry of Imo State. What we plan was to lure investors into Imo State. They will come and invest in our institutions, under the Public Private Partnership, PPP, arrangement to assist us in the full take-off of the universities.

“For those of you who are conversant with the history of Imo State, education is one of the viable industries in the state.

“When I came into office in 2011, I told IMO people that my top priority is education and I want to tell you that we have done a lot in this area.

“We have created six new universities, four polytechnics and two colleges of education. By the time they take off, this will accommodate thousands of our children who go outside the state in search of admission and in most cases, they do not get it. Now, the opportunity is here for them to take advantage of.

“We have set up a team headed by Prof Iwuchukwu. They have two weeks to meet with the NUC to get the approval for the tertiary institutions.”

Benue State police command has arrested a dismissed army sergeant, Terngu Ackaa and a member of his gang, Msugh Ako alias MC Dave, for the alleged kidnap of a Gboko based businesswoman from who they collected a ransom of N11million.

Also apprehended by the command was a middle man, Moses Iorha, a member of a robbery and kidnap gang, for alleged robbery and abduction of an eight-year-old girl in Makurdi.

Parading the suspects which included seven other suspected cult members and alleged robbery suspects yesterday in Makurdi, the State Police Commissioner, Mr Omololu Bishi, disclosed that the dismissed army personnel and his gang were arrested in Gboko while planning the kidnap of two relatives of an American based Surveyor.

“We deployed necessary intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspects who confessed to being members of a kidnap gang. Efforts are on top gear to arrest the other gang members,” Bishi said.

According to the Police Commissioner, Moses Iorha and his gang had last March broke into the home of their victim in Makurdi town, shot him on the leg, robbed him of his valuables and abducted his eight-year-old daughter.

“The gang of armed men broke into the house of the victim, robbed him of his Toyota Corolla car and some amount of money he could not specify. They also shot him on his right foot and abducted his eight-year-old daughter.

“During our investigation, Moses Iorha of Mase, Gwer Local Government Area was arrested in connection with the case. The suspect confessed to the crime and stated further that his gang also robbed one other in Ankpa Quarters area of Makurdi of his pump action gun and other valuables.

“One pump action gun, one locally made pistol, a Toyota Corolla car and seven life cartridges have been recovered from the suspect but our investigation is still in progress.”

An armed teenager whose threats forced the closure of 19 school districts in Colorado was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
Sol Pais, an 18-year-old from Florida, was "infatuated" with the Columbine shooting and made threats as she traveled to Colorado this week -- the same week as the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre, which left 13 people dead, authorities said.
Police began searching for Pais and found her dead Wednesday morning at the base of Mount Evans, Dean Phillips, the agent in charge of the FBI office in Denver, said at a news conference.
She apparently killed herself with a pump-action shotgun she purchased after arriving in Colorado, he said. Mount Evans, which is part of a national recreation area, is about 60 miles west of Denver.

Phillips and Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader said investigators don't think Pais got onto the grounds of Columbine High School in Littleton or any other school.
Pais had made "credible," but not specific, threats before and after traveling from Miami to Denver on Monday night, Phillips said.
She also raised suspicions by purchasing one-way plane tickets for April 15, 16 and 17, the agent said. Police in Florida contacted the Miami FBI office, which alerted the Denver office, Phillips said.

After Pais arrived in Colorado, she immediately went to a store in Littleton and bought the shotgun and ammunition, authorities said.

Pais was considered a threat to the community and schools, but there was no information on any specific threat to a particular place, Phillips said.

More than 2,000 miles away, in the Miami suburb of Surfside, police Chief Julio Yero broke the news of Pais' death to her relatives.
Despite their grief, "they are actually grateful that no one else is hurt," Yero told reporters outside the family's home.
"This family contributed greatly to this investigation from the very onset," the police chief said. "They provided us valuable information that led us to Colorado, and a lot of things that assisted in preventing maybe more loss of life."

A former Trump administration official who cooperated with Robert Mueller's probe is having serious second thoughts about talking to the special counsel's office, citing concerns about being named in the Justice Department's redacted version of the report.
This aide noted the White House requested that former senior officials cooperate with the Mueller probe, going as far as to hand over email addresses for those aides to investigators. That made it next to impossible to not cooperate, the aide said.
The former official scoffed at the notion that President Donald Trump would be mad at aides who talked to investigators, because Trump and his lawyers should have known that people scheduled to sit down with Mueller's team would have to tell all they know in their sessions with the special counsel's investigators.

The Trump legal team has openly discussed how cooperative they have been, even putting out a letter documenting the extent of cooperation. It's been the strategy all along to make it harder for Mueller to insist on an interview.

Now, this former official is nervously anticipating what will be in the redacted version of the Mueller report. This aide claims to have fully cooperated with the investigators, pointing out the indictments in other cases in which Trump associates had been accused of lying to the Mueller team.
Will this person's name be in the findings? This former official has no idea. The lesson learned for future probes of this kind, this source said, is not to cooperate.
"Don't cooperate," the former official said, arguing it would have been better to refuse to cooperate and be compelled to talk to the grand jury instead, and perhaps have some protection in terms of not being identified in the report.
Another former White House aide said the strategy to let witnesses talk to Mueller was good for Trump as it helped him avoid being interviewed, but may not have been so good for the more than two dozen current and former White House officials who met with Mueller's team.
"It's indicative of the 'live now, deal with it later' type of atmosphere in the White House," this ex-staffer said, adding "later has come."
Another source put it this way: "That decision was made a long time ago. Maybe they should have worried about it then what they're worried about now."
The sources said there's some hand-wringing going on with some -- but not all -- of the former aides, particularly among those whose businesses rely on having access to and gaining influence through their relationship with the White House.

The concern is that the Mueller report will potentially put them on the outs in Trump's orbit and hurt their bottom lines. Some of the former officials have been scrambling in recent days, reaching out to others who were interviewed asking if their names will be redacted in the report and expressing concern about what they may have told Mueller more than a year ago.
And a former high-ranking Justice Department official who's familiar with the investigation said there may well be embarrassing details in the report about Trump. This official said it's "possible," but noted the President "is impossible to embarrass."
The Trump campaign and legal team appears to have a public relations strategy in place for dealing with the fallout from the report: A Trump adviser said the first couple of days of responding to the release will be largely handled by the President's outside attorneys. That will drive the conversation before the political surrogates come in and respond more aggressively, the adviser said.
"On the scale of things, this is already an old, boring story," the adviser said, dismissing the possibility that the President will be damaged. "We're bored."
The expectation among some former officials is that the Mueller report could have a chronological narrative of events that could be construed as the President trying to steer the investigation but not doing anything that crosses the legal line.
The former officials expect several examples could be laid out where aides saved Trump from himself, which the President will undoubtedly not like, one of the sources said.
"A lot of what people have said will be embarrassing and may not reflect well on the President and the administration," another source said.

One area of concern for current and former officials is not just what former White House counsel Don McGahn may have told Mueller, but also what his deputies, Ann Donaldson and Uttam Dhillon said.
The New York Times previously reported Dhillon, now the acting Drug Enforcement Administration chief, misled the President about whether he could fire then-FBI Director James Comey without cause because he was concerned his firing would lead to an obstruction probe which ultimately happened.

While that may be a testament to a woman's praiseworthy character, I am of the opinion that such women still fall short, in the sense that they only stick to a man while he grows his financial IQ, without them growing theirs too.

A poorly resourceful but endearing woman may mean the world to a struggling man. But the moment he mounts financial heights, his once endearing but financially uneducated partner may become a liability.

Mounting financial heights is a function of FINANCIAL EDUCATION, and financial education promotes ASSETS but frowns at LIABILITIES. As you know, assets put money in your pocket while liabilities take money out of your pocket.

A poorly resourceful woman may be an asset to a struggling man because she supplies his emotional needs despite his low financial state. But when he grows his IQ and gets rich, he'll most likely require more than emotional satisfaction from her.

If she had failed to grow her financial IQ along with him, she will depend on him to supply her financial/material needs just as she supplied and still supplies his emotional needs. At this point, the woman may become less attractive to the man.

Any woman can supply emotional needs. And when it comes to supplying emotional needs, it's a two-way traffic. But if she had grown her financial IQ along with him, she would easily flow in the same frequency with him, both emotionally and financially.

That way, their attraction to each other endures and their love blossoms. Between a financially educated partner and a financially uneducated partner, there will be arguments and fights over money, and most of the time, if not all the time, the root of the problem can be traced to the partner with low or no financial education.

That is why one partner eventually walks away. Even the Bible says; "Can two work together except they be agreed?" In most cases, the partner who walks away is the one with more financial education, which in the context of the write-up, is the man.

We may call him a monster, an ingrate, or Lucifer, as the case may be. But if you take a quick run through history, you'll find that many financially educated women had to dump their financially uneducated male partners when they could no longer agree on certain money-related matters. It is not a GENDER THING. It is a GROWTH THING.

Here are highlights of the police reform bill:

Clause 4 (c) says the president shall appoint the inspector-general of police from the recommended applicants subject to the confirmation of senate.

Clause 6 (a) says the president shall remove the inspector-general from office for his inability to effectively perform the functions of his office. (b) for gross misconduct. (c) where the president is satisfied that is in no longer in the interest of the police force or public for inspector-general to continue in office.

Clause 23 provides for the establishment of a police fund.

Clause 96 provides that anyone who assaults a police officer, obstructs or resists a police officer is liable to a fine of N100,000 or six months imprisonment.

Clause 98 prohibits the taking of liquor or intoxicating substance while on duty. Punishment prescribed for such offence is a fine of N20,000 or three months imprisonment.

Clause 99 prohibits the impersonation of police officers. Punishment prescribed for such offence under this clause is a fine of N300,000 or three years imprisonment or both.

Clause 100 prohibits the entry of the police force with forged certificate. Punishment prescribed for the offence is a fine of N500,000 or three months imprisonment.

Clause 103 provides for the establishment of community police forum.

Raheem Sterling was denied by VAR in injury time as Manchester City's quadruple hopes came to an end in the most dramatic of circumstances against Tottenham in a classic Champions League quarter-final tie.

The England international thought he had a hat-trick at the death at the Etihad Stadium, but a review showed Sergio Aguero was offside in the build-up as Tottenham progressed via the away goals rule despite losing 4-3 on the night.

Spurs had already been assisted by VAR when Fernando Llorente bundled in from close range 17 minutes from time, which made it 4-4 on aggregate and ultimately booked a semi-final date with Ajax.

A chaotic first half had City 3-2 up at the break, as Sterling wiped out Son Heung-min's brace then scored the hosts' third following a fortunate Bernardo Silva equaliser.

Aguero's brilliant strike had seemingly put City into the semis before VAR deemed Llorente's apparent handball to be accidental and Pep Guardiola's men saw wild celebrations for Sterling's last-gasp effort curtailed in sensational scenes.

So much of the talk around City in recent weeks has revolved around a potential quadruple, with Guardiola's men previously looking almost unbeatable in every competition.

Nigeria’s 59-year history has just got an additional colour as Priscilla Ekwere Eleje, becomes the first woman to have her signature impended in the Naira note, thus, just above the director of currency space of the one thousand naira note is her signature.

NNU gathered that, Eleje who has been acting director of currency and operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been confirmed, substantive director of the apex bank.

She is the first female director of currency in the history of the bank, and her signature has been appended on the naira, thus breaking another glass ceiling.

Ladi Kwali, Nigeria’s foremost potter, is the only woman on the naira, taking a spot at the back of the N20 note.

As apparent, every naira note in the country’s history — save the N20 note — has had the face, name, and signature of a man, up until now.

Insiders at CBN told news men that the Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the bank, has been working to ensure more women come to the table at the bank.

NNU also gathered that she was confirmed on August 30, 2018, and currencies printed afterwards would carry her signature.

Sarah Alade has been the closest woman to this feat, rising to become the deputy governor of the CBN after as she was appointed the head, fiscal analysis division of the CBN at the turn of the millenium.

Alade, who — though in acting capacity — became the very first female governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), retired on March 22, 2017, after leading at the bank in various capacities.

Aishah Ahmed was appointed to replace Alade in 2018.

Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.

This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, 'OK, dad, I'm ready.'

His Pastor dad asked, 'Ready for what?'

'Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out.'

Dad responds, 'Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring rain.'

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, 'But Dad, aren't people still going to Hell, even though it's raining?'

Dad answers, 'Son, I am not going out in this weather.'

Despondently, the boy asks, 'Dad, can I go? Please?'

His father hesitated for a moment then said, 'Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son..'

'Thanks Dad!'

And with that, he was off and out into the rain.. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract .

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted. Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered.

He rang it again and again, but still no one answered.. He waited but still no answer.

Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him.

Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch!

He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.

Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, 'What can I do for you, son?' With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, 'Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that * JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU * and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.'

With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave.

She called to him as he departed. 'Thank you, son! And God Bless You!'

Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, 'Does anybody have testimony or want to say anything?'

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet.

As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face, 'No one in this church knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and broken-hearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, 'I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away.'

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly...

I thought to myself again, 'Who on earth could this be?

Nobody ever

rings my bell or comes to see me.' I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you!

The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, 'Ma'am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU .'

Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand..

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn't be needing them any more.

You see-- -I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell..'

There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated....

He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son.... Except for One.
