The Five Players That Could Tempt Arsenal, Chelsea And Spurs Into A Last-gasp Deadline Day Deal by Glory2019: 03:17 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The end of the January transfer window is now
just around the corner, yet there are still
several players of great repute that are yet to
get their moves - despite heavy rumours.
As always, we can expect a busy period
towards that 11pm transfer deadline as clubs
scramble to get their last minute business over
the line.
Here’s a list of potential players you may see
move before the window shuts.
Youri Tielemans
Club: Monaco
Age: 21
Once regarded as one of one of Europe's
brightest stars, Tielemans has yet to hit the
heights expected of him.
Still only 21, as a traditional ‘number 8’, he is
brave from midfield, averaging 17 forward
passes per 90 minutes with a success rate of
76.7% against just 6.6 backwards passes per
90 minutes. He is also a strong aerial presence,
winning 58.2% of his aerial duels per 90
minutes.
Despite heavy links with Leicester and
Tottenham, the Belgium international remains a
Monaco player. However, the return of former
coach Leonardo Jardim will surely bring an end
to his time at the Stade Louis II, with the pair
having a fractured relationship previously.
Abdülkadir Ömür
Club: Trabzonspor
Age: 19
The 19-year-old made an impressive 32
appearances for Trabzonspor last season,
scoring three goals and assisting six. He has
continued that rich vein of form this season
and has directly been involved in seven goals
over his 20 appearances so far.
Somewhat crudely nicknamed the ‘Turkish
Messi’, the left-footed player features
predominantly on the right-side of his sides
attack and has built up a reputation as being a
skilled dribbler. His is currently averaging 4.62
dribbles per 90 minutes with a decent success
rate of 66.2%.
Ömür has been talking up a move to Liverpool -
however it is unlikely any deal with any Premier
League side will be struck in this window.
However, he is certainly one to watch - and is
clearly angling for a move to finish off the
month.
Adrien Rabiot
Club: PSG
Age: 23
Recently linked with a move to Tottenham,
Rabiot is an all-action midfielder with an
impressive skill set.
He is a graceful ball-player, averaging 72.21
passes per 90 minutes this season with an
impressive success rate of 92.3%. He is also
strong going forward, averaging 7.37 offensive
duels per 90 minutes with a success rate of
52.2%.
With less minutes than he would have liked for
PSG this season, rumours of an imminent
departure may be true - however he is out of
contract in the summer, meaning any potential
suitors may opt to wait until then.
There is the option to send a tempting bid to
the Ligue 1 leaders before they lose him for
nothing this summer.
Yacine Brahimi
Club: Porto
Age: 28
His current deal expires at the end of the
season, and rumours are that Porto are looking
to flog him for a fee this January rather than
lose the 28-year-old for nothing in the summer.
Brahimi has the ability to dance through many
a defence and often has the final ball to match.
But his greatest attribute is of course that
dribbling skill. This season he has averaged
9.36 dribbles per 90 minutes with an impressive
72.8% success rate. He favours the left flank
but has the versatility to play centrally or on
the right.
If he can put his troubles and inconsistencies
behind him, he is bound to continue to attract
some big interest.
Alfredo Morelos
Club: Rangers
Age: 22
The 22-year-old has been in sensational form
for Rangers this season, scoring 21 goals in 36
league and cup encounters.
Despite the striker still having three and a half
years left on his Ibrox contract, he has been
linked with a move down south to the English
Premier League.
He is averaging 3.41 shots per 90 minutes this
season with a decent accuracy rate of 38.4%.
He can also boast an impressive xG average of
0.43, suggesting his is likely to score with over
40% of his shots on goal, therefore it is no
surprise he is generating a lot on interest.
With the striker himself expressing his desire to
fulfill his English Premier League dream, it
seems only a matter of time before he makes a
switch. Any side with aspirations of
strengthening their forward line should consider
him.
