Ahead of the February 16 presidential and
National Assembly election, the Accord
Party’s candidate for Abia North Senatorial
district, Chief Kachi Iheme, has dumped his
party, AP for the All Progressives Congress
(APC) in Abia state.
He equally announced his withdrawal from
the Abia North Senatorial race.
Speaking while formally declaring for the
party (APC), at a ceremony held in Acha
Ovim in Isuakwato local government areas,
on Thursday, Iheme explained that he
decided to join the APC to ensure that Abia
people enjoy dividends of democracy which
he said, had eluded them as occasioned by
the twenty years of the Peoples
Democratic Party’s misrule in the state.
The candidate disclosed that he cross-
carpeted with thirty-four thousands of his
supporters under his coalition, including
Accord Party members in all the seventeen
Local Government Areas of Abia.
His words, “I have formally expressed my
intention and desire to be where my people
are, and that is APC. Why I joined APC, is
because of the same thing that made me
to go to Accord Party to contest the
election, is the same thing that I have also
seen that APC is pursuing.
“So, like you know, working together is
winning together. So, looking around and
seeing people I worked with, they are
credible people, people that I know, that
feel what we feel. There is no point in
isolating myself.
“We have to come together and take this
power out from incompetent people. In just
Abia coalition Movement alone, the main
proprietors of the Accord Party in Abia
state, we have 34,000 members from all
the seventeen local government areas of
the state.
“34,000 are members of the Abia Coalition
Movements that are funding Accord Party,
they are the same people we are putting
into this platform.
†We have sat down, we have agreed and
decided that there is no point in splitting
this votes. Let us give it to the people who
feel what we feel. We will work to ensure
Dr. Uche Ogah emerges Abia governor
come March 2019″.
