Ten operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Sunday, stormed the head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ogun State, Punch Metro reports.

Their arrival might not be unconnected with the rumour being spread around that there were plans to compromise the results of the elections in the state.

The arrival of the EFCC officials at Magbon INEC Office, Abeokuta around 2pm reportedly caused confusion among the INEC officials.

Punch Metro reliably gathered that the presence of the EFCC officials at the INEC office was to prevent any sharp practice as the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections that were being collated.

The operatives, who were in crested jacket of the commission, were seen discussing with one another as they made their way towards the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Raji’s office.

When contacted, the head of Voter Education and Publicity of the commission in the state, Mrs Adenike Tadese, said their presence was in connection with the election results being collated.

Tadese said, “As I speak to you, we are about to start the collation of the Presidential election results. That is what we want to do and that is why you are seeing them.

“They are here like others. All the stakeholders are here for the collation of the presidential election results.”
