JAMES 3:1-12
Interpretative Lessons
-We should control our tongue, before you say anything put yourself in the person's shoe. Be mindful of what you say because it might make the person to commit or do sinful things thereby unconsciously bringing GOD'S punishment upon yourself (verse 5&6)
-Those that teach, discipline, advice will be judged with greater strictness than those that are being thought.(verse 1)Do you do what you teach or advice?
-Don't boast of the gift GOD has given you and don't feel perfect than others;don't criticize those that make mistake or commit sin, pray for them not to criticize, because it is the grace of GOD that made you not to be like them(verse 2)
-Don't curse your fellow humans because the power of tongue can't be tamed even when you are hurted or provoked, leave everything in GOD'S hands(verse 5&10).And don't take advantage of the fact that there is power in the tongue you use against people even when they did not do anything to you or commit grief offence(it doesn't work that way it will backfire at you)
-As REAL Christian we shouldn't curse. Only good things and blessings should come out of our mouth, don't miss it with curse, you can't miss good with evil(verse11&12)
In summary, don't allow your tongue to control you, learn to control your tongue. Always read the Bible so as to apply what you have read, learned and meditated to every situation be it temptation or trial you are facing. As you are rehearsing to deviate from your bad ways and please GOD so also the devil is rehearsing to stop it ,so be consistent and never give him a breathing space to stop you.
