If you are waiting for Mariah Carey to hop on the #10YearsChallenge, you may have to wait a little while longer because she is not here for it.

The music diva made a hilarious point about the #10YearsChallenge in an Instagram post and understandably so.

The #10YearsChalenge requires social media users to share before and after photos from 2009 and 2018 but Carey who has been serving consistent good looks isn’t about to post any “glow-up” or “glow-down” photos.

According to her, she’s not even keeping track of time. She wrote,

“I don’t get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge. 🤷‍♀️,” she posted to Instagram on January 16, along with a “before and after”…of the same picture. “*Picture taken at some point prior to today.”

Interestingly, Carey is not the only one to have poked some fun with the “10-Year Challenge,” which started with a Facebook meme that went viral in January 2019. Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Chrissy Teigen have also had some fun with it.

Chinese Super League side, Guangzhou R&F have completed the signing of Tottenham midfielder, Mousa Dembele.

Tottenham took to their official Twitter page, @SpursOfficial, on Thursday to make the announcement.

“We have reached an agreement with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F for the transfer of @mousadembele, subject to international clearance.” Tottenham twitted.

Spurs made the decision to allow Dembele to leave the club now so they receive a transfer fee, with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Dembele had not played for Tottenham since November due to an ankle injury on his right leg.

Jose Mourinho has pledged to return to football at a “top level” a month on from being sacked by Manchester United.

“I want to coach,” Mourinho told BeIN SPORTS. “I am too young, I am in football for a long, long time, but I will be 56 in a couple of weeks and am really too young.

“Where I am going to stay is where I belong, I belong to top football. I belong to top-level football and (that) is where I am going to be.”

The English giants have thrived since the Portuguese’s departure, winning all six of their games under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That is in start contrast to the form under Mourinho that saw United fall 19 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after just 19 games before he was let go after two-and-a-half years in charge.

Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford was riddled with clashes with key players, most notably Paul Pogba.

The French World Cup winner was one of United’s first signings after Mourinho was appointed for a then world-record £89 million in 2016.

But Pogba was dropped for Mourinho’s final three Premier League games in charge.

“The phrase I kept with me from (former United manager) Sir Alex Ferguson was, ‘the day a player is more important than the club, goodbye’. Not anymore,” added Mourinho.

“The manager is there to coach them, the manager is not there to keep the discipline at any cost.

“The structure must be made, the structure must be there to protect the manager and for the players to feel that everything is in place and that they are not going to arrive into a situation where they feel more powerful than they used to be.”

Not only have United’s results picked up under Solskjaer, but the attacking brand of football employed by the Norwegian is an embodiment of that he knew as a player at Old Trafford for 11 years under Ferguson.

The Red Devils have scored 17 goals in the last six games.

However, Mourinho also turned on those who have criticised his far more cautious approach, claiming he deserved to be respected like Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti for his success in a glittering coaching career.

“It is very easy to play well and not win, it is very easy to be behind a certain idea of a certain football without results.

“The people that win and the people that win consistently — because you can win isolated and then disappear — has obviously a different idea about that.

“If you speak about Guardiola, Ancelotti, about one where obviously I belong, that have a career of victories for a long, long period, where are the young ones with a real impact in terms of results? Where are they?”

An Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to show cause the continued detention of Senator Dino Melaye who has been in police custody since January 4, 2019.

Justice Yusuf Halilu gave the order after the counsel representing Senator Melaye, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) informed the court that his client has been in custody beyond the number of days stipulated by the law.

Lawyer to the police, Mr Simon Lough, in his response claims that he is not aware of the order to show cause as he only received the motion on notice on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, and therefore needed five days to respond.

He argued that although Senator Melaye is in police custody, he as the counsel lacks the power to fast track his investigation which is currently on-going preparatory to charging him to court.

Justice Halilu, however, insists that the police was put on notice to come and show cause why the detained Senator should not be released on bail.

He, therefore, adjourned the hearing of the suit to January 18, 2019, to enable the respondent to file his reply.

Trump insists he won’t agree to open the government until Congress signs off on his demand for $5.7 billion to build a wall along the border with Mexico, which he argues is needed to prevent illegal immigration.

“This is crazy,” said Cardi B, who was born to a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother. “I feel like we need to take some action.”

The EU is to slap sanctions on two suspected Russian agents accused of carrying out a deadly nerve agent attack in the British city of Salisbury, officials told AFP Thursday.

Foreign ministers from the bloc will formally sign off on restrictive measures against nine individuals and one entity at a meeting on Monday, as part of the EU’s new sanctions regime aimed at punishing those who use chemical weapons in breach of international treaties.

Several diplomatic sources confirmed to AFP that the nine will include the two men blamed for the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the English city in March last year using the Soviet-developed nerve agent Novichok.

The two men, who claimed to be tourists but have been identified by the Bellingcat investigative group as decorated agents for Russia’s GRU military intelligence called Alexander Mishkin and Anatoly Chepiga, were hit with sanctions by the US in December.

The EU is to sanction two more Russians as well, along with five Syrians, in the first listings made under the new mechanism, which was introduced in October following the Skripal attack.

“It will be the first time there is a listing related to violations of international obligations under the OPCW and that will involve listing nine persons and one entity,” a senior EU official said, adding “they are obviously very naughty people”.

The Salisbury attack, the first offensive use of chemical weapons in Europe since World War II, caused an international outcry and prompted a mass expulsion of Russian diplomats by Western nations.

The Skripals survived the attack but a woman died in June after her partner picked up a discarded perfume bottle that British investigators believe was used to carry the Novichok.

Moscow denies involvement in the poisoning and has offered numerous and varied alternative explanations and counter-accusations.

Buhari is weak mentally, physically – Eedris Abdulkareem


Nigerian singer, Eedris Abdulkareem has opined that President Muhammadu Buhari is weak mentally and physically.

The controversial rapper was reacting to the President’s performance at a town hall meeting organised by the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and Daria Media with support from the MacArthur Foundation in Abuja on Wednesday.

Buhari had while responding to a question about the disability bill, called on the press and the elite to monitor the progress of the Disability Bill 2018.

He had said,“I cannot honestly remember the plan being taken to the National Assembly and how much they have done on it and sent it back to the centre. It is the same with the Disability Bill. There are so many (bills) with the National Assembly and unfortunately, I expect the elite through the press to keep an eye on the activities of the bills between the executive and National Assembly.

“If the executive sends a bill, they can hardly put it in the budget except it is returned to the National Assembly with their comments and recommendations.”

But, reacting, Eedris on his official Instagram page, said that he was surprised Buhari denied that the disability bill has been transmitted to him.

He said, “Fact Check Buhari is weak mentally and physically. Buhari denied that the disability bill has been transmitted to him. Link 1: in October, after BUHARI declined assent to the Bill, NASS worked to address the concerns he raised.

”The Senate referred the Disability Bill 2018 back to the conference committee of both chambers of the National Assembly for a review. Abuja court reaffirms Emenike as Abia APC candidate

UMUAHIA – A Federal Capital High, FCT, sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, presided by Justice K. N. Ogbonnaya has reaffirmed his order that Chief Ikechi Emenike is the authentic Abia State candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.



Justice Ogbonnaya had on November 29th 2018 given the order that Emenike is the candidate of the party and directed INEC to publish his name as the candidate, which the commission failed to obey.
But Mr. Uche Ogar who was picked by the other faction of the party and the party, APC, approached the court and filed a motion praying the court for a stay of execution of the order and for the order to be vacated.

However ruling on the motion, Justice Ogbonnaya refused to grant the stay of execution motion and also refused to vacate the order reaffirming but rather reaffirmed her order as valid until it is set aside.

The issue of who is the authentic candidate of the party in the State has been lingering for long following an order secured from an Abia State High Court sitting at Okpuala Ngwa which recognized the state’s party exco that produced Emenike.

But the Oshiomaole led National exco recognized Chief Uche Ogar produced by the faction not favoured by the court order.

In her ruling, Justice Ogbonnaya refused to grant the request of both APC and Ogah’s motion for stay of execution of her earlier judgment which was in favor of the Emma Ndukwe led factional exco which produced Emenike as the governorship candidate of APC in Abia State.

Justice Ogbonnaya described the motion filed by Ogah and APC as “a clear abuse of judicial process, unmeritorious and un-grantable” and reaffirmed her judgment of 29th November 2018 as being valid until set aside.

Justice Ogbonnaya also condemned the action of APC and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for not forwarding Emenike’s name as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the State.

Justice Ogbonnaya further ruled that the 1st defendant [APC] has no discretion to refuse, reject and/or neglect to act on the list of candidates forwarded to it for onward transmission to the 2nd defendant (INEC).

She also ruled that the court which she presides has the territorial jurisdiction to entertain the matter that was brought before her.

The leadership the Emmanuel Ndukwe’s exco which produced has in the suit sought for the following reliefs from the FCT high court, to declare and reaffirm the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe as the authentic one in Abia state as ordered by Justice Collington Okoroafor.

*An order compelling the 1st defendant to forward the name of the plaintiff being the winner of the primary election as the governorship candidate of the APC in Abia state.

*An order compelling INEC to accept and list the name of the plaintiff being the winner of the governorship primaries conducted by the party on the 30th September, 2018 as the Abia state candidate of APC in the forth-coming governorship elections.

The party also sought an injunction restraining the defendants from through their officials, agents or servants from omitting, removing, swapping the name of the plaintiff.

Reacting to the judgment, Emenike commended the courage of the judgment in upholding the truth, saying that “it is the way it should go, as justice should be served, as the action of Adams Oshiomole the national chairman of APC is very condemnable”.

He said that he does not want to join issues with Oshiomole, as according “this is a man who is a beneficiary of the judiciary but like I said earlier I don’t want to join issues with him as I have respect for the office he occupies”.

Senate confirms INEC REC, ICRC chief

The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Monday Udo Tom as Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appointment was confirmed at Thursday plenary after consideration of a report by the Senate committee on INEC.

The Chairman of the committee, Suleiman Nazif, said even though the committee received a petition against the nominee, none of the petitioners showed up when invited and there was no evidence to back up claims in the petition.

The lawmakers adopted the committee’s recommendation of confirming the appointment after a voice vote.

Similarly, the Senate confirmed the appointment of Chidi Izuwah as Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

The Chairman of the Senate committee on works, Kabiru g*ya, said the three senators from Abia, the nominee’s state, endorsed his nomination.

Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates eligible to participate in the forthcoming general elections.

The list contains the names of candidates for the presidential, national and state assemblies.

The final list of eligible presidential and vice presidential candidates that was released by INEC had 144 names.

The Social Democratic Party is yet to present its presidential candidate or running mate for the election which might be due to the controversy that marred the party’s primary.

A former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke was declared as the party’s flag bearer and was ousted out by a court in December.

A former minister of information, Jerry Gana was recognised by the court, but was not accepted by his party.

However, there were total of 28 women on the list as either presidential and vice presidential candidate.

A total of 72 Presidential candidates and another 72 Vice-Presidential candidates are expected to be voted for during the February election.

Arsenal have finally struck an agreement with Barcelona to sign midfielder, Denis Suarez in this January transfer window.

According to Mirror UK, Arsenal will take Suarez on loan until the summer, before handing over around £18million to Barca to make the deal permanent ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Suarez has found himself unfavored by Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde’s pecking order this season, having only featured three times this campaign and not once in La Liga or the Champions League.

The 25-year-old has been told by Valverde that he was not in his plans this season at Camp Nou.

Suarez, who played under Arsenal manager, Unai Emery during their time at Sevilla, has been one of Gunners’ top January transfer targets this month.

The midfielder played a key role in Sevilla’s Europa League success back in 2015.

Into Paying N12 Million For Job At Aso Rock Clinic



According to a News Agency of Nigeria report, two individuals have allegedly fraudulently obtained N12m from one Oniye Wunmi on the pretext that they wanted to help him secure employment in State House Clinic, Abuja.

Consequently, the Police on Thursday arraigned one Ogugua Christian in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over the allegation.

The defendant, who lives on Arab Road, Abuja, is being tried on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, misappropriation, cheating and impersonation.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Oniye Wunmi, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on December 8.

He alleged that the defendant and one Anthony Esther (now at large), fraudulently obtained N12m from the complainant under the pretext that they would secure job for him at the State House Clinic, Abuja.

He told the court that rather than fulfill their promise, the defendant misappropriated and converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecutor alleged that Esther, the defendant’s accomplice, who had posed as a doctor, was now at large.

He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 322, 309, 322 and 179 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2m, with two sureties, one of whom must be a senior civil servant.

Balarabe said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until February 25 for hearing.

Bukola Saraki and Atiku Abubakar in America on Thursday.


The opposition People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar on Thursday arrived to the United States of America.
In footage seen by The Guardian, the presidential candidate was seen at the Washington Dulles International Airport alongside Senate President Bukola Saraki.

“Just arrived Washington D.C for meeting with US government officials, Nigerians living in D.C metropolis and the business community,” Abubakar tweeted on Thursday evening.

He is expected to speak at the United States Chamber of Commerce in DC on Friday.

Abubakar has not visited the country for a few years.

He and his fourth wife Jennifer Douglas, an American citizen, were allegedly indicted in 2010in a 328-page American Senate committee report for transferring over $40 million “suspect funds” to America from offshore accounts between 2002 and 2008.

Abubakar served as Nigerian vice president between 199 and 2007.

“Ms Douglas helped her husband bring over $40 million in suspect funds into the United States, including at least $1.7 million in bribe payments from Siemens AG, a German corporation, and over $38 million from little known offshore corporations, primarily LetsGo Ltd. Inc., Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., and Sima Holding Ltd,” the Carl Levin-led Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation said on page 173 of its report.

Although Abubakar has not visited the United States since he was indicted, he has maintained that he did nothing wrong.

He insisted he can be Nigerian president without visiting America, one of Nigeria’s most important allies.

In November, the Director General of the Atiku campaign organisation, Gbenga Daniel, says officials of the United States have hinted that Abubakar would get a U.S. visa if he applies for one.

“I can also confirm to you that in last few days that there have been signals from the American officials that he (Atiku) should indeed come forward so he can be granted a visa. So between you and I, all the issues are perception,” Daniel said in an interview on Channels Television programme, Politics Today.

The Federal Government has announced plans to begin local production of e-passports to conserve foreign exchange.

Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau said this at an event to mark his three years in office.

He said producing the passport in the country would also help in job creation and build Nigeria’s capacity in passport production, NAN reports.

“Currently, our passports are being produced outside the country; not too long, we will start the production of passports which is under the Private-Public Partnership (PPP).

“Within the period under review, the ministry was able to review agreement under PPP, to ensure that the quality of services are improved and the government’s share of revenue is increased.”

He said part of the roles the ministry played was ensuring the issuance of Visa-on-Arrival at various international airports which was done to attract and ease movement of genuine investors.

The minister said that through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the ministry launched the Harmonised Arrival/Departure Cards which ended the era where international travelers were required to fill multiple cards issued by various agencies at the ports.

“The introduction of the cards has created a platform for enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria as specific migration entry and departure encumbrances, as well as cumbersome clearing processes, have been reduced,” he said.

Yes. The bailout funds for states when he resumed office were a major stroke for this administration. When this government came on board, there was confusion everywhere because of salary problem in the states. In fact, we were recording suicides everywhere. For instance, some states in Niger Delta were owing five months salaries.

Also, the issue of pensioners dying without 10 months pension was daily news. You see them crying like children in a civil war situation. But the move by the President and the firm decision to release bail-out funds to assist all the states without discriminating against any state deserves commendation. The bailout fund stabilised the nation.

How do you see INEC preparation for the forthcoming election?

INEC is not showing us enough evidence that they are prepared for this election. And the international community is not showing us enough evidence that they are ready for our elections. I expected the current INEC chairman to go back to history on Nigeria’s elections. Yes, it is true he has conducted some elections in some states, but we are talking about presidential election and nationwide elections in various states the same time. He is only addressing press conferences. For instance, even voters education is lacking. There is no evidence to show how the voters need to go about the elections. So, if the commission is lacking anything a month to the election, he should tell the whole world his problems. We are all expecting peaceful elections.

There appears to be no news from the Ogoni Clean-up?

Our people are not happy with the slow move in this clean-up matter. I have raised the alarm several times on television; radio and even in print media that the oil companies like Shell, Chevron, Agip, etc have continued to play politics with this clean-up. The delay we are experiencing is caused by the oil companies. They manipulate everything to their advantage and the Federal Government cannot punish them for causing confusion with the international partners responsible for the clean-up. The Federal Government has announced the take-off date for the clean-up. But announcement is not the issue. The politics of the oil companies in frustrating anything Niger Delta is the issue.

Does it mean Ogoni clean-up matter is now dead issue?

No way. We cannot allow it to die. We are still putting up pressure on government. We are holding government to its pronouncement on the matter and our elected representatives. We are not talking about only Ogoni clean-up. We are talking about the whole Niger Delta clean-up. That was the demand of PANDEF. That is the demand of the whole region.

Some lawmakers are proposing a bill to return the country to parliamentary system. What is your opinion?

I totally support them. We are just wasting our resources on this presidential system. We have practiced the two systems of government, and we can now make a choice. The difference is very clear. All lovers of this country’s future will support the idea. It surprises me because I do not know how God gave them the courage to come out to make this demand, because the same people are the ones benefiting from this waste. I hear some people argue that the system is not the problem but the operators. That is a senseless argument. What empowered the operators to become the problem? The operators become the problem because there are opportunities available in the system for the operators to cause the waste we are experiencing.That is one of the evils of the presidential system of government. Nigeria cannot move forward with this system. We are doomed and we better change the situation. If not, we are bringing the future generation to suffer under this abnormal system we have operated for years. The Presidential system is like a free-for-all fight in mega super market. You have free space like the open air to do as you like lawlessly and you just give any excuse and move on. It is so sad.

There are strong indications that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will land in Washington DC, USA today.

A promotional material sighted by The Boss indicates that Atiku has been invited to speak in Washington by the US-Africa Chambers of Commerce on Friday and the event will hold from 2-4pm.


He is also billed to attend other high profile meetings in and around the US capital. A source close to the Atiku Campaign team also confirmed to a Tori News correspondent that Atiku left Nigeria last night.

President Donald Trump vowed Thursday to boost America’s missile defense systems, including by investing in technology to protect against the threat of sophisticated “hypersonic” weapons.

Speaking at the Pentagon, Trump unveiled the Missile Defense Review, a long-awaited analysis of the defensive network of US interceptors that are designed to shoot down an incoming ballistic missile.

Top among the concerns highlighted in the review is the speed at which rivals, particularly China and Russia, are pushing ahead with hypersonic missiles, which can thwart traditional defense systems.

“The US will now adjust its posture to defend against any missile strikes including cruise and hypersonic missiles,” Trump told the military audience.

“We will terminate any missile launches from hostile powers or even from powers that make a mistake. It won’t happen, regardless of the missile type or geographic origins of the attack.”

Flying at low altitude, many times the speed of sound, and able to change direction, hypersonic weapons don’t follow a ballistic arc so are much harder to track and cannot currently be intercepted.

As a result, the Pentagon is urgently looking at ways to enhance its ability to track hypersonic missiles, primarily by using existing sensors that are deployed in space.

“These new technologies produce new threats, and these threats are harder to see, harder to track and harder to defeat,” Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said.

“To our competitors: we see what you are doing and we are taking action.”

Trump blasted Iran for developing missile technology but notably, he did not mention North Korea, which has developed a ballistic missile arsenal and has conducted several nuclear tests.

Trump ordered the missile defense review in 2017, amid heightened tensions with Pyongyang over its nuclear program — the first such review of America’s ballistic defenses since 2010.

But Trump has since met North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in a bid to end the crisis, and he was expected to welcome a top North Korean official in Washington on Friday.

Still, the review itself stresses that North Korea is “an extraordinary threat and the United States must remain vigilant.”

Missiles in space
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA), which conducted the review, said it would study the feasibility of creating a space-based interceptor system, in which an orbiting craft of some sort would be equipped with missiles that could destroy an incoming warhead while it was in space.

Another focus for the MDA will be developing ways to knock out a ballistic missile immediately after it has launched.

Currently, ground-based anti-missile technologies focus on intercepting warheads while they are in the “midcourse” phase, flying through space.

By attacking the missiles while they are still in their “boost phase” soon after launch, the MDA could add a layer of defense for America and its allies.

One way of doing this would be by adding a new type of missile to F-35 stealth fighters patrolling near a suspected launch site, such as in a hypothetical conflict with North Korea, the MDA said.

“Intercepting offensive missiles in their boost phase would increase the likelihood of successfully countering missile threats, complicate an aggressor’s attack calculus… and reduce the number of midcourse or terminal active defense interceptors needed to destroy the adversary’s remaining offensive missiles,” the MDA said.

The MDA is also looking at ways of boosting its “directed energy” — or laser — capabilities to take out ballistic missiles.

The review was due to be released last year, but its publication saw repeated delays.
