Bernadette Konjalo, a true definition of beauty with brains had her colourful career in the hospitality industry brought to a sudden end when terrorists shot right through her hands into her face.

"Words will never be enough, you were one resilient lady I ever knew," wrote one of her friends.

When everyone was running to safety amidst gunshots and confusion, Konjalo put the lives of her colleagues and guests first. The Gatanga Girls' High School alumni met her untimely death while directing her colleagues and guests to safety zones via designated exit zones.


Born in a family of four siblings hailing from Dondi village Siaya county in Kenya , Konjalo was the last born and a darling to many owing to her kindness and generosity.

Konjalo was not only a darling to her workmates and family, but also her former school mates who have seemingly been shocked by her sudden death. Having shown leadership skills from a tender age, Konjalo was assigned dinning hall prefect at Gatanga Girls' High School.

According to her former school mates, she was the most loved among the prefects and easy to go to person. The ever-smiling girl worked at Tribe Hotel for six years before moving to dusitD2 Hotel in March, 2014.

While at dusitD2, she slowly rose up the ranks from the position of assistant front office manager to the director of revenue.

Serena Williams marched into the Australian Open last 16 Saturday and warned she was still improving after taking time out to console the latest victim of her quest for a record-equalling 24th major.
Williams swatted aside Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska 6-2, 6-1 in a Melbourne Park mauling that reduced the world number 57 to tears.

The 37-year-old, who is in the hunt for her first Grand Slam since having a baby, comforted the youngster at the net, telling her: “You did amazing, you’re gonna make it, don’t cry”.

But Williams, who is in ominous form and has dropped only nine games in her opening three matches, also had a message for her rivals, saying she was not yet at the top of her game.

“I think I’m getting there. I don’t feel like I’m there yet,” she said. “I feel like I’m still getting there.”

Williams will face either sister Venus, who is unseeded this year, or world number one Simona Halep in the next round.

The 37-year-old won her 23rd Grand Slam Down Under two years ago while two months pregnant and is the bookies’ favourite to claim an eighth Australian title, despite being seeded 16th.

Another major would match Margaret Court’s tally and Williams is focused as she chases down the Australian great’s record.

“I’m here, I’m playing as hard as I can and doing the best I can, which is really all I can do,” she said.

‘Broke my heart’
Yastremska was not even born when the American won her first major at Flushing Meadows in 1999.

Williams said she did not like to see an opponent so distressed but she appreciated that Yastremska cared so much about trying to win their match and “came out swinging”.

“I kind of liked that. It shows she wasn’t just there to play a good match, she was there to win,” the American said. “She wanted to win. That really broke my heart.”

Her compassion contrasted with Maria Sharapova’s attitude when she left Harriet Dart in tears after serving the Briton a 6-0, 6-0 “double bagel” in the first round.

“There’s no time for that, I’m sorry to say,” the Russian responded when asked if she had any sympathy for her opponent.

Yastremska’s only previous appearance at a Grand Slam was a first round exit at last year’s US Open and she looked like roadkill as soon as Williams raced to a 4-0 lead in the first set.

The Ukrainian managed to hold serve twice in the first set, prompting wild applause from the crowd but was powerless to stop Williams taking the first set 6-2 after 27 minutes.

Williams was equally relentless in the second, breaking Yastremska and allowing the teen to score only four points off her serve as she went up 4-1.

Yastremska had treatment on her right foot but it was only delaying the inevitable and Williams took just a few minutes to bring up match point after play resumed.She hit her first chance into the net but completed the win after Yastremska sent a return wide.

Ahead of 2019 general elections, Seun Kuti, son of Afro legend, Fela, has called out Nigerian parents over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Kuti, in a post on his Instagram page, lamented that a religious issue such as the hijab crisis that happened in Ibadan could cause outrage but the closure of universities for months has not yielded any protest by parents.

According to the singer, the parents should not be seen at the rallies when some of them have kids who are not in school.

Alongside an inscription that read “Your children aren’t attending school but you are attending political rally. Are you maaaaad? Kuti wrote: “Until we are ready to serve our children and not just raise them, we shall never understand national development.

“How hijab crisis in a secular school can create more outrage than the closure of our universities for months is the proof we need to know that we are willing to serve everything else, but our children.”

Recall that universities in Nigeria have been on strike since November 4, 2018 over failure of government to fulfil its promise in the 2009 agreement with ASUU.

Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil, has sent a clear message to manager Unai Emery ahead of Saturday’s must-win match against Chelsea, by declaring himself available for selection.

The 30-year-old was left out of the squad last weekend for tactical reasons, the third time he has missed a match on that basis this season.

Ozil also continues to struggle with various back and knee injuries.

Arsenal’s defeat at West Ham left them six points behind Chelsea in the race for fourth place and defeat at the Emirates would almost certainly signal the end of their challenge for Champions League qualification via the league.

Emery has reportedly told the former Germany international to seek a new club in the summer and according to Corriere dello Sport, Ozil has already been offered to Milan.

The former Real Madrid playmaker, meanwhile, has no intention of leaving Arsenal and is said to be working hard in the gym, in a bid to convince Emery he is worthy of a place in his starting XI.

On Friday, he tweeted: “Another week of full team training done. Feeling good & confident”.

Asked whether Ozil would feature this weekend, Emery said on Thursday: “He has injuries, where sometimes he is okay, sometimes not okay. I want every player to be okay for every match and he is the same.

“He didn’t play the last game but this Saturday he could possibly be with us. Now he is training consistently.

“I want every player to give consistency. This is not always easy. What is most important is how he can help us.”

Agricultural Investment Will Bring Nigeria Out Of Poverty, Says OsinbajoVice President Yemi Osinbajo addressing an audience in August 2018.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says there is a need to invest in agriculture to take the nation out of poverty.

He made the recommendation on Thursday in Abuja while launching the Green Imperative, a project of the Federal Government in collaboration with the Brazilian government.

“Frankly, we believe we cannot bring our nation out of poverty, especially the large numbers of the poor without significant investments in agriculture and, of course, mechanised agriculture,” the Vice President was quoted as saying in a statement by his media aide, Mr Laolu Akande.

He added, “But also because we know the sheer number of young people who are coming into our population in the next 10 – 15 years, will certainly not only need to be fed, but will also need to have jobs, and the sort of jobs that these young people will want will not be jobs requiring hoes and cutlasses.”

Professor Osinbajo noted that the young generation would need more dignified jobs while the government would be able to achieve more with mechanisation.

He stressed that the only way the nation can make the quantum leap required to advance its economy and provide the number of jobs needed was simply what the government was doing.

The Vice President highlighted the progress made so far, saying there would be a combination of service centres where technical capacity and training would take place.

According to him, the major dividends of all these are the hundreds of thousands of quality jobs that young men and women will be able to access.

“Today, we have made a significant difference in our journey, not just in self-sufficiency in food production, but also in creating the kinds of jobs that we could have from agriculture,” said Osinbajo.

“Also crucial is the fact that the private sector is an important component of this particular enterprise … we have ensured that this will be private sector driven and we have here today, both Nigerian and Brazilian investors committed to investing and working on this project.”

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s dream of self-sufficiency in food production has moved closer to realisation, as the nation would be able to produce food for its people in the next couple of years.

The Vice President was also hopeful that there would be employment not just in agriculture, but in all of the agro-allied value chain and manufacturing.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has registered over 300,000 candidates for its 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in one week.

The Board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known to Newsmen on Friday in Lagos.



CANDIDATES
Benjamin said that this was coming a week after the commencement of the registration exercise.

The board commenced registration of candidates for the 2019 all Computer Based Test (CBT) on Jan.10 and it would close on Feb. 21.

UTME: JAMB to commence 2019 registration in December

According to him, the registration so far has been seamless, and the board is happy with the development.

“We are happy with the way the process is going; we hope it will continue this way.

“So far, we have registered over 300,000 candidates as at Thursday.

“We are happy there have not been issues because so far, there is just a tiny gap between the number of candidates that have acquired the e-pin and that of those that have registered,” he said.

Meanwhile JAMB had insisted that all candidates with issues of biometrics must go over to Abuja for it to be rectified.

“I want to reiterate the fact that only the Registrar of the board has the sole right to attend to such issues.

“Any candidate who may have issues with the capturing of his or her finger prints at their respective points of registration will need to come down to our office in Abuja.

“This will require the Chief Executive to do it himself for the purpose of security,” Benjamin said.

This, however, was contrary to calls by some stakeholders urging the board to set up special centres in every state of the country to tackle issues.

The National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) had argued that asking candidates with biometric issues to travel all the way to Abuja to get such issues sorted out was too demanding, citing dangers of transportation, fares, among others.

Chief Adeolu Ogunbanjo, the second Deputy National President of the Association, said that most parents were barely struggling to get money to get their children and wards registered.

Ogunbanjo said that for those with such biometric issues, travelling to Abuja was an additional burden.

Rui Faria, an assistant to Jose Mourinho at a number of Europe’s biggest teams, has become head coach at Qatari league side Al Duhail, the club announced on Friday.

It is the 43-year-old’s first job since leaving Manchester United, as Mourinho’s number two, last year.

Duhail said it made an agreement with Faria “to be the coach of the team in the upcoming period”.

“The club will present its new coach to the media in a major press conference that will be announced in the upcoming two days,” the club said on its website.

Faria has been assistant for Mourinho — who is alo in Qatar at the moment working as a pundit for beIN Sports — at a host of top clubs including Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United spanning 17 years.

He surprisingly called time on their partnership last year at Old Trafford after working with Mourinho.

At the time he said he wanted to “spend much more quality time” with his family before taking a new job.

Mourinho’s troubled spell as Manchester United boss ended last month.

It is the second noticeable coach appointment made by a Qatari club in recent weeks, after former Iceland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson was unveiled as Al-Arabi’s boss in December.

Duhail currently stand second in the Qatar Stars League, behind Al Sadd, who could be coached by Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez from next season.

They are the current Qatari league champions and Faria will replace Nabil Maaloul, who was the coach of the Tunisian national side at the World Cup last year in Russia.

Romelu Lukaku’s Manchester United future is in the spotlight as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plots to maintain his 100 percent winning record against Brighton on Saturday.

Solskjaer is the first manager in the club’s history to begin his career with six straight victories and the feel-good factor is back at Old Trafford after a miserable spell under Jose Mourinho.

A former super-sub himself, Solskjaer warned his players when he took over from Mourinho that some would have to take the opportunities given to them from the bench, and Belgium striker Lukaku has been one of the losers from the switch in tactics and positive vibes that have arrived under the Norwegian interim boss.

Mourinho stood loyally by the 25-year-old despite a drop in form and productivity during a season that eventually cost the manager his job.

Solskjaer’s own decision about the forward positions was made for him when he took over at Old Trafford before Christmas, with Lukaku on leave from the club for personal reasons.

That meant the Norwegian was able to play with a more dynamic, versatile and speedy forward line for his debut game at Cardiff, and he has not looked back since that 5-1 victory.

Marcus Rashford has been the main beneficiary, starting all five league games under Solskjaer and scoring four goals while operating as the focal point of the United attack.

Behind him, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard have also made telling contributions, with French international Martial, in particular, appearing to benefit from an end to his fraught relationship with Mourinho.

As part of that tactical reshuffle, Solskjaer has also been able to get more out of Martial’s compatriot Paul Pogba by pushing him into a more advanced midfield position.

It has left a question mark over Lukaku’s role in this new attacking set-up.

Substitute role
Lukaku has played just 64 league minutes since Solskjaer’s arrival, although the striker has managed to score twice in that time and bag a goal in his only start to date under the Norwegian, the 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading.

Lukaku has been making his mark as an impact substitute but that is not the usual role of a player bought for £75 million ($97 million), plus add-ons.

Alexis Sanchez will also present Solskjaer with an issue when he is finally fully fit from hamstring troubles that have limited him to just one start in the past two months.

Chilean Sanchez is unavailable for Saturday’s visit of Brighton alongside defenders Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo.

The 30-year-old was sidelined when Solskjaer took over but played his way back to fitness, playing 27 minutes in the 2-0 win at Newcastle at the start of the month.

A recurrence of his hamstring injury, in the win over Reading a few days later, once again sent him to the treatment room, although he could be back for United’s visit his former club Arsenal in the next round of the cup.

Despite his recent lack of playing time, Sanchez would appear to be a better fit for Solskjaer’s preferred style of play than Lukaku, with his versatility and mobility meaning he can fill a variety of attacking roles.

Barcelona overturned a first leg defeat to beat Levante in the Copa del Rey on Thursday but could yet be thrown out of the competition after being accused of fielding an ineligible player.
Barca won 3-0 at the Camp Nou, with Lionel Messi setting up two Ousmane Dembele goals and then scoring himself to seal a 4-2 victory on aggregate.

Their place in the quarter-finals, however, is under threat after Levante president Francisco Javier Catalan confirmed shortly before kick-off that the club would lodge a complaint to the Spanish Football Federation on Friday.

Levante claim Barcelona defender Juan Brandariz ‘Chumi’ played illegally in the first leg as he should have been serving a suspension.

“Whatever happens on the field of play today, Levante are going to take this situation to the Federation tomorrow,” Catalan said earlier on Thursday.

“We feel that there is a solid enough precedent to back up the club’s decision to do so.”

Chumi was banned after he received a yellow card playing for Barcelona’s B team in the Segunda B division.

Barcelona, however, insist a change in the rules in November means the suspension does not carry over into the Copa del Rey.

“There were never any doubts about Chumi, none,” Barca coach Ernesto Valverde said. “We did everything right. Tomorrow we will be in the draw, we have no doubts, not before and not now.”

Levante may feel precedent is on their side after Real Madrid were disqualified from the Copa del Rey in 2015 for fielding Denis Cheryshev, despite the player being suspended.

Madrid had overlooked Cheryshev receiving three yellow cards while playing for Villarreal in the competition the previous season.

“I tried to focus on the game,” Levante coach Paco Lopez said. “I understand that the club does what it thinks is right. There are rules we all have to follow.”

Barcelona were certainly worthy winners on the pitch at the Camp Nou and, as it stands, will join Real Madrid, Sevilla, Real Betis, Valencia, Girona, Getafe and Espanyol in the last eight of a tournament they won, as well as La Liga, last year.

That domestic double arguably took its toll in Europe, however, and Valverde has been under pressure to afford his key players more rest this season. Barca play Lyon in the Champions League last 16 next month.

Messi started, along with fellow regulars like Jordi Alba, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur. Luis Suarez, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Marc Andre ter Stegen all began on the bench.

Barcelona were dominant from the outset, as a curling Messi free-kick was pushed wide and Philippe Coutinho, excellent again, shot over.

Messi and Arturo Vidal both went close and finally in the 30th minute, Dembele made the breakthrough, latching onto Messi’s pass before bundling the ball into the net.

A minute later, the Frenchman had a second. Coutinho found Messi on the break and he slipped free the sprinting Dembele, who ran round Aitor Fernandez and scuffed the ball home off the goalkeeper’s outstretched leg.

Levante were still only a goal away from extra-time but Messi ended any hopes of a comeback. Dembele freed Nelson Semedo down the right and he found the Argentinian in the middle. A chipped finish was all it needed.

AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso was on Thursday handed a one-game touchline ban for angrily confronting the referee after his side’s Italian Super Cup final defeat to Juventus in Saudi Arabia midweek.
Gattuso, 41, angrily confronted officials for not awarding a penalty for a foul by Juventus’s German midfielder Emre Can on Andrea Conti late in his side’s 1-0 defeat in Jeddah.

The Lega Serie A on Thursday banned the former AC Milan and Italian international midfielder and imposed a 15,000 euros ($17,000) fine.

Gattuso was punished for “shouting at the referee in a threatening manner and challenging his decisions, as well as having subsequently, while waiting for the prize-giving ceremony, addressed further offensive words and insinuations towards the referee”.

AC Milan club doctor Mario Brozzi has also been banned until February 4 for making “seriously insulting, offensive remarks in an arrogant, derogatory manner towards one of his own players,” which referee Luca Banti noted in his match report.

Gattuso will miss AC Milan’s Serie A trip to Genoa on Monday as the Italian league returns after a three-week break.

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie will also miss that game after his red card awarded after consultation with VAR, along with teammates Alessio Romagnoli and Davide Calabria for yellow-card accumulations.

Juventus’s Miralem Pjanic will also be suspended for his team’s visit by Chievo.

A female German coach who made history in December by becoming the first woman to manage in Germany’s fifth tier after taking over at BV Cloppenburg is making headline over her withering response to a journalist.

Speaking with German national daily newspaper, Welt, the 30-year-old revealed how she replied a journalist who had asked her whether she warned her male players to always have their pants on before she enters the dressing room.

A pro-Democracy and Non-Governmental Organization, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has assured people of the South East that the launch of Operation Python Dance III was in their interest.

Against this backdrop, the right group urged people of the region to “partner with the Armed Forces to build a better society that will ensure peace and stability which are necessary for economic growth of the society and progressive advancement of fundamental human rights of the citizenry.”

HURIWA, however, urged the Nigerian Army to “maintain the cordial relationship it is enjoying amongst the people of South East of Nigeria.”

The National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko said this in Owerri, Imo State while leading a three-member investigative team on the assessment visit to the South East, ahead of the start of the military operation.

HURIWA’s investigative team visited Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Abia and Ebonyi States to assess the mood of the people of South East towards the recently inaugurated Operation Python Dance three and also to encourage them to participate massively in the February and March 2019 General elections, so as to elect only credible political office seekers who will abide by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1999 (as amended) and fundamentally rebuild the South East of Nigeria into an Economic and industrial hub.

According to Onwubiko, “The general impressions the team got from a lot of residents of the South East Geopolitical zone of the Country is that this third phase of the military training operation by the Nigerian Army is geared towards assisting the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant law enforcement agencies to sweep off armed gangs and organized criminals terrorizing millions of law abiding citizens of the South East of Nigeria even as the national scope of the military exercise launched on Monday in Lagos by the Chief of Army staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai remains the trigger that comprehensively convinced the people of South East of Nigeria that the operation was not an isolated operation that is to target certain persons or groups of agitators in the South East of Nigeria.

‘The findings from the team which also co-opted leaders of some Community based organizations in the South East of Nigeria show that unlike the previous OPERATION EGWU EKE 11 which specifically was perceived as an isolated operation that targeted sympathizers and perceived members of the pro-Self Determination campaigners of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and witnessed several conflicts between members and sympathizers of IPOB and the armed forces of Nigeria leading to fatalities, most people who spoke with HURIWA said the current OPERATION PYTHON DANCE 3 is acceptable provided the armed operatives will stay off unnecessary confrontations with unarmed persons and also not be deployed to manipulate the forthcoming elections. The people of the South East of Nigeria are ready and determined to actively participate in the elections which they see as the last opportunity to elect persons that will guarantee good governance in the zone.

“Although as a platform that campaigns for constitutional democracy we had initially canvassed that the Nigerian Army should focus on battling the armed terrorists of Boko Haram in the North-East of Nigeria and ensure that Boko Haram terrorists are significantly degraded, decimated and destroyed, but most people interviewed in the South East of Nigeria said the military training that is code named OPERATION EGWU EKE 3 is not a threat to the enjoyment of the fundamental human rights as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and a plethora of International and continental human rights and humanitarian treaties, covenants, conventions, laws and agreements provided the armed operatives adhered strictly to the global best practices, stick to their rules of engagement and stay off the polling and collation centers during the forthcoming elections because the people believe that the Nigerian Army as a professional institution created by the constitution in section 217(1) ought not to be used by politicians to deprive the people of their civil liberties and the fundamental human rights recognized and guaranteed by the Constitution and many other internationally binding laws.

“We were told by the people that they are prepared to work and partner with the Nigerian Army to eradicate criminality and criminals who are creating insecurity in many towns and communities in the South East of Nigeria and discourage investors from locating their investments and businesses in the South East of Nigeria. These people living and doing legitimate businesses in the South East of Nigeria told us that their wish is that the South East of Nigeria will become a viable commercial and industrial zone so millions of graduates and school leavers who are now without jobs can be gainfully employed and they said if the military operations can guarantee security of life and property it therefore means that the States of the North East of Nigeria will in no time be rapidly developed so the youth can be productively engaged and become constructive creators of legitimate wealth to turn around the area and minimize the consequences of mass poverty and declining standards of living”.

Specifically section 217 of the constitution states thus: “There shall be an armed forces for the Federation which shall consist of an army, a navy, an Air Force and such other branches of the armed forces of the Federation as may be established by an Act of the National Assembly; (2) The Federation shall, subject to an Act of the National Assembly made in that behalf, equip and maintain the armed forces as may be considered adequate and effective for the purpose of -: defending Nigeria from external aggression; maintaining its territorial integrity and securing its borders from violation on land, sea, or air; suppressing insurrection and acting in aid of civil authorities to restore order when called upon to do so by the President, but subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly; and performance such other functions as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly. (3) The composition of the officer corps another ranks of the armed forces of the Federation shall reflect the federal character of Nigeria.”

HURIWA also expressed optimism that the armed operatives taking part in the Operation Python Dance III will absolutely abide by the rules of engagement and not violate the human rights of the citizens.

The body, however, promised to “monitor the implementation of the operation python dance 3 to ensure compliance to the constitutional rights of citizens.”

Cardiff City have bolstered their striking options in a bid to remain in the Premier League with the signing of Everton striker Oumar Niasse on loan for the rest of the season.

The Senegalese striker could soon be followed by the signing of Nantes forward Emiliano Sala, who is expected to undergo a medical on Friday, for a club record fee.

Niasse, 28, has had a bit-part role at Goodison Park since arriving in a £14 million ($18 million) deal from Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2016, going out on loan to Hull two years ago under current Everton boss Marco Silva.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock revealed that Everton defender Phil Jagielka, who played for Warnock at Sheffield United, had spoken highly to him of Niasse.

“Jagielka said he’d be my type of player and do well for us,” Warnock said.

“When I look at the squad there’s not many players on loan who are like Niasse.

“I wanted (Liverpool defender Nathaniel) Clyne but that meant I wouldn’t have been able to get Niasse because of the loan rules.

“So it could be fate and now he’s got this opportunity to put himself in the shop window.”

Warnock will be able to call on Niasse for Saturday’s crucial visit to Newcastle in the battle for survival.

However, Sala’s move is unlikely to be completed in time for him to feature this weekend.

“It’s around £15 million, but that’s what strikers cost. I like him, he’s a hard worker,” said Warnock on Sala.

Cardiff sit 17th in the Premier League, one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Cesc Fabregas got his first taste of the unusual experience of a matchday in Monaco in midweek, but the Spain star had to watch from the stands as Thierry Henry’s side drew 1-1 with Nice, coached by another former Arsenal star in Patrick Vieira.

Signed from Chelsea last week, Fabregas impressed on his debut in a 1-1 draw at Marseille, but the 31-year-old was ineligible against Nice, a match that was originally due to be played in December before being postponed.

Just hours after admitting to journalists it had been a wrench to leave the Premier League, Fabregas sat next to fellow new signings Naldo, Fode Ballo-Toure and William Vainqueur to watch the Cote d’Azur derby.

PSG have spent the week in Qatar, the land of their owners, a trip set up primarily to keep sponsors happy.

The derby between Saint-Etienne and Lyon is the most authentic in the French game, and can be one of the most fiery anywhere in Europe.

When Lyon won 5-0 in Saint-Etienne last season, a pitch invasion by angry home fans caused a lengthy stoppage before the final five minutes were played out in an almost empty stadium.

A repeat of that scoreline seems unlikely this time, but the stakes are high. Les Verts are still unbeaten at home this season and lie third in the table, two points better off than Lyon, who needed a late Nabil Fekir free-kick to draw in Toulouse in midweek.

Can Garcia survive at Marseille?
It has turned into a wretched season for Marseille, last year’s Europa League runners-up.

The southern giants have already been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions and the Europa League, and slumped down into mid-table on a nine-match winless run.

The latest setback came in a 2-1 defeat at Saint-Etienne on Wednesday, when Dimitri Payet was left on the bench for the whole 90 minutes.

The pressure on coach Rudi Garcia continues to increase ahead of Sunday’s game at Caen.

La Liga and China’s Super League on Friday signed an accord to “make Chinese football grow throughout the world.”

“We are going to learn from La Liga as much about developing young players as about promoting our brand,” Dong Zheng, the general secretary of the Chinese league told a press conference in Madrid.

“I hope that with the help of La Liga, the Chinese Super League can become a premier league at the Asian and even the World level,” said Zheng.

The agreement is for four years and covers the sport as well as organisation and financial controls.

Chinese professional football said Javier Tebas, the Liga president, “is looking to organise as we do in the biggest leagues in the world.”

“We will work together on strategies of financial oversight, one of the concerns of Chinese football with the increasing influx of a lot of private investment,” Tebas added.

In the last five years, La Liga has applied rigorous economic controls including, cleaning up club accounting and centralising the sale of TV rights.

The agreement also includes collaboration in marketing and digital development, in which “we will try to share experiences and make Chinese football grow all over the world,” Tebas said, who added that the project could help fulfil the ambitions of Chinese president, Xi Jinping, who once said he wants to see China win the World Cup.

“If we work in Chinese professional soccer, in a strong Chinese league, we contribute to the dreams of the Chinese president of being able to organise a World Cup in China, qualify for a World Cup and, one day, win the World Cup,” said Tebas.

Queen Elizabeth II’s 97-year-old husband Prince Philip emerged “shocked and shaken” but unhurt from a car crash that flipped his Land Rover on its side and stirred up a UK debate on Friday about old age and driving.
A nine-month-old baby who was in the back seat of the Kia hatchback involved was uninjured, while one of the two women inside hurt her wrist, local police said.

“We are aware of the public interest in this case, however, as with any other investigation it would be inappropriate to speculate on the causes of the collision until an investigation is carried out,” the police said in a statement.

Images published by UK media showed a dark Land Rover standing on its side by the curb, driver’s side down, its windscreen smashed, glass and metal debris scattered across a road running by a leafy park.

“I was driving home and I saw a car, a black (Land) Rover come out from a side road and it rolled,” witness Roy Warne told BBC Radio on Friday.

“There was a huge collision with another car. I went to the other car and there was a baby in the back” in a harness.

Warne said one of the two other women in the Kia “was the mother of the child and she was quite upset”.

Philip and the other driver were given breath tests, which is standard police procedure. No alcohol was detected.

The accident created banner headlines in most British papers, which cover the royals’ every move, and a robust media debate about the wisdom of driving at Philip’s age.

“MY LEGS! MY LEGS!” The Sun tabloid splashed on its front page — reportedly the phrase Prince Philip “yelled” as he was pulled from the wreckage.

It quoted him as saying: “I was blinded by the sun.”

Love for speed
Philip, known for his forthright manner and off-colour jokes, retired from public life in 2017 and underwent a hip replacement operation last April.

Tall, slim and built like a retired soldier, the former air force pilot spends most of his time driving, gardening and enjoying family life at royal estates, according to Buckingham Palace.

He was last seen in public with the queen at Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October.

But he missed the royal family’s annual Christmas Day church service gathering.

Known as the Duke of Edinburgh in Britain, Philip is also famous for his love for speed.

The royal family website says the duke “learned to fly all type of aircraft”, passing a Royal Air Force test in 1953.

In 2016, alongside the queen, he drove former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle around Windsor Castle after they landed nearby in the presidential helicopter.

‘Age old debate’
The accident stirred up what The Sun described as Britain’s “age old debate” about whether and when the elderly should give up driving.

The issue is especially sensitive in the case of the royals, with the Daily Mail noting: “There’s only one person who can tell him to stop driving. But will she dare?”

The queen was reportedly at the duke’s side when he checked in for a brief hospital visit, but has issued no public comment.

Official figures cited by UK media show more than 100,000 drivers in the UK over the age of 90.

In Britain, licenses expire when a person turns 70 and are renewed through a simple self-assessment test.

“There will be some surprise that the duke still drives himself on public roads,” BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond wrote in a commentary.

“But he has always been fiercely independent, and would have resisted any suggestion that he be denied the right to drive himself.”

The Daily Mail asked whether the duke would now “sacrifice one of his last indulgences”.

The BBC’s Dymond suggested that he might.

“It might be that the duke is about to be persuaded to give up the wheel.”

Last year’s finalist Marin Cilic survived a huge scare in the Australian Open third round Friday, surviving two match points before beating Fernando Verdasco 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10/8), 6-3.

The big-serving Croatian sixth seed was in danger of departing when he lost the first two sets against the 35-year-old Spaniard.

He ripped back 6-1 in the third and saved a first match point on his own serve during an edge-of-the-seat fourth set tiebreaker as the clock struck midnight.

Verdasco earned a second match point on his own delivery and then double-faulted to leave him tearing his hair out.

Cilic took it to a fifth and the still shellshocked 26th seed Verdasco dropped his serve straight away.

Cilic dug deep one last time at 4-2, 0-40, saving three break points and eventually secured the marathon come-from-behind victory in 4hr 18min just before 1:00 am.

“It was a tough match. The emotions were up and down,” said Cilic, who is into the fourth round at Melbourne for the sixth time.

“At two sets down it was a big hill to climb.”

Cilic lost a five-set thriller in last year’s final to Roger Federer and will face another Spaniard, 22nd seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the last 16.

The scene of the accident

It has been reported that two students of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, identified as Nash and Elijah, have died.

The two young men reportedly died when they got involved in a really horrific lone accident in Akure, Ondo State in the wee hours of the morning.

Local reports show that the fatal accident occurred around 4:30 today while the duo were returning from a nightclub in the town.

They were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital where they were confirmed dead.

Five suspects, including a Canadian citizen, appeared in a Kenyan court Friday in connection with an Islamist attack on a Nairobi hotel complex that left 21 dead.

A magistrate granted a request from the prosecution to detain the four men and one woman for 30 days while investigations continue.

The suspects are accused of “possible involvement in the almost 20-hour siege of the DusitD2 hotel and office complex by a suicide bomber and four gunmen who were all killed by security forces, a court document said.

“The investigations into this matter are complex and transnational and would, therefore, require sufficient time and resources to uncover the entire criminal syndicate,” a statement from Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji said.

A total of 11 suspects were arrested after Tuesday’s attack, however, investigations into the others were still ongoing.

Those who appeared in court include Joel Ng’ang’a Wainaina, a taxi driver who ferried the attackers around on several occasions, and Oliver Kanyango Muthee, a taxi driver who drove one of the assailants to the scene of the attack.

Gladys Kaari Justus is being investigated over the transfer of money while Guleid Abdihakim — who holds Canadian citizenship — is being probed over suspicious communication.

The other suspect Osman Ibrahim is alleged to have met with one of the attackers on January 8.

Two suspects yet to appear in court, Ali Salim Gichunge and Violet Kemunto Omwoyo possessed SIM cards that were in “constant communication” with numbers in Somalia, court documents revealed.

The attack was claimed by Somali Islamist group Al-Shabaab, an affiliate of Al-Qaeda which has repeatedly targeted Kenya over the presence of its troops in Somalia.

In 2013 an attack on the Westgate mall in Nairobi left 67 dead, while in 2015 Shabaab killed 148 people at a university in Garissa, eastern Kenya.

Barcelona could be thrown out of the Copa del Rey, after Levante’s president confirmed they will complain that the Catalan club fielded an ineligible player, in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Levante won the opening match 2-1 last week and believe Barca defender Juan Brandariz ‘Chumi’ played illegally, as he should have been serving a suspension.

Chumi was given a ban after receiving a yellow card, while playing for Barcelona’s B team in the Segunda B division.

Barcelona insist a change in the rules, made in November, means the suspension does not carry over into the Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid were disqualified from the Copa del Rey in 2015 for fielding Denis Cheryshev, despite the player being suspended.

Cheryshev had received three yellow cards, while playing for Villarreal in the competition in the previous season.

A bitterly disappointed Caroline Wozniacki said she was leaving Melbourne Park with her head held high Friday, despite arch-rival Maria Sharapova ending her dream of defending the Australian Open title.

Sharapova upset her in a three-set thriller to reach the last 16 at Dane’s expense 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

World number three Wozniacki spent more than a decade chasing her maiden Grand Slam and said it was tough to accept she was now out of the running to retain the trophy.

“I’m a competitor, I love to win, I hate to lose — I hate losing more than I love winning,” she said.

But the 28-year-old refused to beat herself up about the loss, saying she had left everything on the court in her third round clash against the Russian.

“Some days you lose,” she said. “As long as you give it your all, as long as I fought for every point and was really trying to do everything in my power to win, I can’t really blame myself.

“Of course, I’m disappointed that I’m not through to the fourth round… I did all I could and just came up short.”

Wozniacki refused to blame the loss on the rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis she revealed during the off season, which sometimes leaves her so exhausted it is hard to move.

She said that was not the case when facing Sharapova and she felt fine on court.

The former world number one also dismissed suggestions that the pressure of entering the tournament as defending champion had weighed on her, insisting she had enjoyed the experience.

“I actually didn’t find it hard at all. I find it kind of pleasurable. It was nice and exciting,” she said.

“It’s a luxury for me to have achieved winning a slam and being number one and winning a lot of other tournaments.”

While Wozniacki was philosophical about the loss, it was clear she has little time for Sharapova, with whom she exchanged barbs after the Russian returned from a drugs ban in 2017.

“Our terms are the same as they have always been,” she said.

“She doesn’t really talk to anybody and just has her team, has her own thing. And that’s that.”

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini says the club are open to selling star forward Marko Arnautovic this month, but only if the price is right.

Arnautovic was the subject of a reported £35 million ($45 million) bid from an unnamed Chinese Super League club last week, an offer his brother and agent Danijel Arnautovic pleaded with West Ham to accept.

Shanghai SIPG are the side said to be interested and have reportedly offered Arnautovic a wage packet of £200,000 per week for a four-year deal.

West Ham have so far refused to accept any bids and urged Arnautovic to honour the contract he signed when joining the club from Stoke in 2017.

However, Pellegrini admitted that stance could change with an increased offer that would benefit both the club and the player, 29.

“They are not forcing me to sell Marko Arnautovic but I think as a manager the best thing is to take the solution that is best for the player and the club, both together,” said Pellegrini.

“If they agree, we don’t have any problem to change. I am not telling the club about it. If it’s a good deal for both parties we will arrange to be without Marko. But the club doesn’t want to sell him.”

Despite the speculation, Arnautovic started last weekend’s 1-0 win over Arsenal that lifted West Ham up to ninth in the Premier League.

However, the Austrian appeared to wave goodbye to the home fans as he was substituted 19 minutes from time.

Pellegrini, though, does not expect Arnautovic to refuse to play for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

“When you have such a high offer, everyone wants to leave but he has a contract here and we will know what will happen about it in the coming days.

“Of course you can’t blame him, he knows what is the best option for him and now we will see what happens between the clubs. I don’t think that the player will refuse to play.”

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a “parody of the 21st century” following his performance at Wednesday night’s town hall meeting in Abuja.

In a statement on Thursday, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shuaibu, said the town hall meeting had exposed Buhari as a man unprepared to lead a modern nation.

According to him, the meeting made it obvious that the President possessed minimal capacity to hold the office of Head-of-State and also lacked knowledge of the goings on in his administration as well as the policy direction of his government.



The statement reads,

“The town hall meeting neither added value nor content to public discuss.

“Clearly, it exposed the fact that the incumbent is neither prepared to rule for another four years, nor does he have a reason to seek a second term.

“The President’s responses to questions border more on classic dementia than reason. It was practically a display of wretched illiteracy.

“It is a shame that this is the best that a supposed ruling party can produce in the 21st century: a man lacking in vision, elementary knowledge and depth. Buhari is a joke, a parody of the 21st century.



“This man has shown that he is unfit to be an administrator of a WhatsApp group, let alone being President of Nigeria. He is not fit, neither should he be allowed to lead the over 200 million Nigerians in the 21st century.

“Of a truth, President Buhari is a man to be pitied because it is apparent he cannot help himself.

“It is now left for Nigerians who are desirous of charting a new course for their country to salvage it by voting Atiku Abubakar on February 16, 2019.”

Some journalists were on Thursday attacked by eight people condemned to death by hanging by a Yola High Cour.

The convicts, who were arraigned in 2015 for armed robbery, went berserk after their judgement was pronounced, pouncing on the nearest journalists, despite the restrictions of handcuffs and prison officials who took them to the court.

The affected journalists included one from the state television house, Adamawa Television (ATV) and one from the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

The presiding judge of the state High Court 3 where the eight robbery suspects were tried, Justice Abdulaziz Waziri, said the convicted persons were found guilty on nine counts, and that the judgement followed a thorough review of the statements of both the prosecuting and defense counsels.

“The presentations of the counsels and those of witnesses proved beyond all reasonable doubts that the suspects were guilty of the charges against them,” the judge said.

He therefore pronounced death by hanging against them but stipulated that they had 90 days to appeal the judgement.

The convicted eight were; Aliyu Ardo, Sadiq Mijinyawa, Shaibu Abubakar, Sani Musa, Kabiru Abdullahi, Saidu Abubakar, Umar Mohammed and Sanusi Ibrahim.

Reacting to the violence perpetuated by the convicts, the state Controller of Prisons in Adamawa, Umar Audu, said the authorities made adequate preparation by providing 10 prison wardens to take them to court, but that the actions of the convicts came against all expectations.

He said the convicts, now back in prison, had shown remorse for their actions, and that the prison authorities would reach out to the victims of the convicts’ actions.

Music stars and celebrity couple Adekunle Gold and Simi have released a new song ‘Promise’ chronicling their love story.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Adekunle Gold announced the song and video release on Thursday amidst the anticipation of their joint album.

The afro-alternative song contained lyrics of the duo speaking of their love for each other and promising to stick together for eternity. The duo also released an equally affectionate video to go with the song.

The video featured Simi and Adekunle Gold, who recently had a private wedding with 300 guests, in full romantic mood and contains snippets from their beach-themed wedding.

In a note accompanying the song, Adekunle Gold thanked fans for their well wishes and explained their reasons for having a private off-media wedding.

He said, “Earlier in 2018, I asked my girl of 5 years to be my wife. Knowing all my imperfections and shortcomings, she said yes!

“This January, before God and our family, we vowed to do this thing called life together. To be honest, it’s easy to get lost in the limelight.

Manchester United are set to double Marcus Rashford’s wages, the UK Mirror reports.

The England international has six goals and three assists in his last nine games and United are keen to reward his form with a bumper new contract.

It would see the 21-year-old double his £75,000-per-week deal, which has only 18 months left to run, to £150,000.

Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has rubbished speculations that he made the decision to sell Mohamed Salah when they were together at Chelsea and underlined the key role he played in his development.

Salah endured a frustrating spell at Stamford Bridge, leaving on loan twice before moving to Roma permanently, and has since broken the record for goals in a single Premier League season since joining Liverpool.

Forte Oil Plc plans to enter into talks to sell its power unit to its major investor, Mr. Femi Otedola, after it failed to secure a deal via a public tender.



Forte Oil said in a statement yesterday that it was seeking shareholders’ approval in a vote on February 7 to start talks with Otedola, adding that Otedola will not take part in the vote.

Forte plans to use proceeds from the sale to expand its fuel retailing unit, its main focus.

Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited, Forte’s power subsidiary, paid $132 million to acquire a 414 megawatt power plant six years ago under a government-led privatisation scheme meant to tackle decades of chronic blackouts.

The company said Otedola had shown interest in bidding for the power unit and that his proposal would be reviewed by management and an independent adviser. A public tender to sell the power asset received “unexpectedly low interest”, Forte said, adding that pricing proposals it received did not meet its expectation.

Shares in Forte rose 2.55 percent on Thursday to 30.15 naira, valuing the company at 39.3 billion naira ($128 million).

Recall that Otedola had agreed to sell his 75 percent interest in Forte Oil’s downstream business, with the deal expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

A man identified as Alhaji Usman Abdullah Gago passed away. He died on Wednesday, January 16.

Gago died just about a month after his wedding to hs wife, Hadiza which held in Jos, Plateau State. Usman and Hadiza got married on December 8, 2018.

The man will be laid to rest today at his family house in Jos.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has said that the issue of the minimum wage is a work in progress.

He stated this to journalists in Abuja, after the National Executive Council meeting in Abuja headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday.

On when the new Wage will be implemented, Ngige said: “The issue of the minimum wage is a work in progress

“After deliberation of the minimum wage, which will be concluded on January 22, 2019, it will be transferred to the National Executive Council and will be referred to the National Council of State.”

Meanwhile, the organised labour had threatened to shut down the economy on January 28,and even vote against any candidates in the forthcoming elections that refuses to implement the new minimum wage of N30,000.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 secured the conviction of one Onovo Osita Malachy at the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded “guilty” to the charge.

The charge reads: "That you Onovo Osita Malachy on or about 4th day of July 2017 in Benin Edo State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did by means of fraudulent trick to wit: love scam on a dating site obtained the sum of $140,000 only from Helen Wang and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 421 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria,2004."

Based on his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Larry Aso Peters, prayed the court to convict and sentence the defendant accordingly.

The defence counsel, I. U. Uchechukwu pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as the defendant “has become remorseful”.

Justice A. A. Demi-Ajayi sentenced the defendant to 12 months imprisonment. The convict is also to forfeit all assets traced to him including an uncompleted building and a Toyota Camry 2007 model to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Manchester United have finally decided to sign Crystal Palace right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka as defender, Antonio Valencia’s replacement at the club.

Valencia is set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer due to a clause in his contract.

The Ecuador international’s current contract at United will expire at the end of the season.

The Daily Mirror reports that United have decided to battle Chelsea and Manchester City for the signature of Wan-Bissaka in this January transfer window.

Valencia has played a bit-part role for United this campaign after a series of row with former Red Devils manager, Jose Mourinho.

United will tackle Brighton on Saturday in the Premier League fixture at Old Trafford.

Govt Bans Political Activities In Benue IDP Camps

One person has been reported killed in a communal clash that broke out in Benue State.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening at the riverine community of Abinse, located along the Makurdi/Gboko Federal Highway.

An eyewitness who fled from the crisis along with several others told Channels Television that several houses were burnt.

Although the details of the crisis were sketchy, he claimed that a man was killed by military personnel sent to contain the clash.

The incident has left many motorists and travellers stranded for fear of being caught in the crisis.

The government authorities and the Police Command are yet to confirm the casualty figure.

The United States Chamber of Commerce, has confirmed a private meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Katharine Cooksey, Senior manager, Media and External Communications, US Chamber of Commerce, confirmed this to The Cable.

She made it clear no reporters will be able to attend the meeting.

“Thank you for reaching out to us. The event you mention is private, closed press, and off the record.

“Only U.S.-Africa Business Center members are invited. No reporters will be able to attend,” Cooksey said.

DAILY POST gathered that Atiku is expected to speak at the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, from 2:30pm to 4pm on Thursday.

A Nigerian singer and founder of Tuface Idibia Foundation, Innocent Idibia, also known as Tu-Baba, has asked youths to shun violence before, during and after the forthcoming general elections, Punch Metro reports.

The singer made the call at the ‘Vote not fight: election is not war’ peace concert in Kaduna on Sunday.

The concert witnessed a large turnout of youths drawn from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.

Tuface Foundation is partnering YoungStars Development Initiative, OPA Reach Out Foundation, National Democratic Institute, United States Agency for International Development and the British Department for International Development, towards ensuring peaceful and non-violent elections in the country.

The musician who is also the Peace Ambassador of ‘Vote not fight campaign’ told the youths to resist any attempt by politicians to use them to foment trouble during the elections.


He said, “Let no one use you for violence. It makes no sense. Such crimes as electoral violence and vote selling and buying have grave consequences in our laws.

“The politicians who sponsor this will never tell you that Section 131 of the Electoral Act provides that by mere threatening someone over elections, you risk a fine of N1,000,000 or three-year jail term upon conviction.

“They will never tell you that Section 124 provides that selling your vote will earn you a N500,000 fine or 12 months in jail or both, upon conviction.”

He also called on the INEC to be neutral and conduct free, fair and credible elections, adding also that security agencies must be above board and remain non-partisan in the discharge of their duties during the polls.

Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Director, YoungStars Foundation, Kingsley Bangwell, said there were 2,600 volunteers in 23 LGAs working to ensure that peace reigned in the state.

UMUAHIA – A Federal Capital High, FCT, sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, presided by Justice K. N. Ogbonnaya has reaffirmed his order that Chief Ikechi Emenike is the authentic Abia State candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.



Justice Ogbonnaya had on November 29th 2018 given the order that Emenike is the candidate of the party and directed INEC to publish his name as the candidate, which the commission failed to obey.
But Mr. Uche Ogar who was picked by the other faction of the party and the party, APC, approached the court and filed a motion praying the court for a stay of execution of the order and for the order to be vacated.

However ruling on the motion, Justice Ogbonnaya refused to grant the stay of execution motion and also refused to vacate the order reaffirming but rather reaffirmed her order as valid until it is set aside.

The issue of who is the authentic candidate of the party in the State has been lingering for long following an order secured from an Abia State High Court sitting at Okpuala Ngwa which recognized the state’s party exco that produced Emenike.

But the Oshiomaole led National exco recognized Chief Uche Ogar produced by the faction not favoured by the court order.

In her ruling, Justice Ogbonnaya refused to grant the request of both APC and Ogah’s motion for stay of execution of her earlier judgment which was in favor of the Emma Ndukwe led factional exco which produced Emenike as the governorship candidate of APC in Abia State.

Justice Ogbonnaya described the motion filed by Ogah and APC as “a clear abuse of judicial process, unmeritorious and un-grantable” and reaffirmed her judgment of 29th November 2018 as being valid until set aside.

Justice Ogbonnaya also condemned the action of APC and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for not forwarding Emenike’s name as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the State.

Justice Ogbonnaya further ruled that the 1st defendant [APC] has no discretion to refuse, reject and/or neglect to act on the list of candidates forwarded to it for onward transmission to the 2nd defendant (INEC).

She also ruled that the court which she presides has the territorial jurisdiction to entertain the matter that was brought before her.

The leadership the Emmanuel Ndukwe’s exco which produced has in the suit sought for the following reliefs from the FCT high court, to declare and reaffirm the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe as the authentic one in Abia state as ordered by Justice Collington Okoroafor.

*An order compelling the 1st defendant to forward the name of the plaintiff being the winner of the primary election as the governorship candidate of the APC in Abia state.

*An order compelling INEC to accept and list the name of the plaintiff being the winner of the governorship primaries conducted by the party on the 30th September, 2018 as the Abia state candidate of APC in the forth-coming governorship elections.

The party also sought an injunction restraining the defendants from through their officials, agents or servants from omitting, removing, swapping the name of the plaintiff.

Reacting to the judgment, Emenike commended the courage of the judgment in upholding the truth, saying that “it is the way it should go, as justice should be served, as the action of Adams Oshiomole the national chairman of APC is very condemnable”.

He said that he does not want to join issues with Oshiomole, as according “this is a man who is a beneficiary of the judiciary but like I said earlier I don’t want to join issues with him as I have respect for the office he occupies”.
