Have you ever known someone who really trusts God? When I was an atheist, I had a good friend who prayed often. She would tell me every week about something she was trusting God to take care of. And every week I would see God do something unusual to answer her prayer. Do you know how difficult it is for an atheist to observe this week after week? After a while, "coincidence" begins to sound like a very weak argument.

So why would God answer my friend's prayers? The biggest reason is that she had a relationship with God. She wanted to follow God. And she actually listened to what he said. In her mind, God had the right to direct her in life, and she welcomed him doing just that! When she prayed for things, it was a natural part of her relationship with God. She felt very comfortable coming to God with her needs, her concerns, and whatever issues were current in her life. Furthermore, she was convinced, from what she read in the Bible, that God wanted her to rely on him like that.

She pretty much exhibited what this statement from the Bible says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."1 "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer..."2

So, Why Doesn't God Answer Everyone's Prayers?
It may be because they don't have a relationship with God. They may know that God exists, and they might even worship God from time to time. But those who never seem to have their prayers answered probably don't have a relationship with him. Further, they have never received from God complete forgiveness for their sin. What does that have to do with it you ask? Here is an explanation. "Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God. Your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear."3

It's pretty natural to feel that separation from God. When people begin to ask God for something, what usually takes place? They begin with, "God, I really need your help with this problem..." And then there's a pause, followed by a restart... "I realize that I'm not a perfect person, that I actually have no right to ask you for this..." There's an awareness of personal sin and failure. And the person knows that it's not just them; that God is aware of it too. There's a feeling of, "Who am I kidding?" What they may not know is how they can receive God's forgiveness for all their sin. They might not know that they can come into a relationship with God so that God will hear them. This is the foundation for God answering your prayer.

How Does Prayer Work?
You must first begin a relationship with God. Here's why. Imagine that a guy named Mike asks the president of Princeton University to co-sign a car loan for him. If Mike doesn't personally know the president of Princeton, that car loan is not going to happen. Yet, if the daughter of this president asked her dad to co-sign a car loan for her, it would be no problem. Relationship matters.

With God, when the person is actually a child of God, when the person belongs to God, he knows them and hears their prayers. Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me...my sheep listen to my voice. I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."4

When it comes to God then, do you really know him and does he know you? Do you have a relationship with him that warrants God answering your prayers? Or is God pretty distant, pretty much just a concept in your life? If God is distant, or you're not sure that you know God, here is how you can begin a relationship with him right now: Getting Connected.

Will God Definitely Answer Your Prayer?
For those who do know him and rely on him, Jesus seems to be wildly generous in his offer: "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you."5 To "remain" in him and have his words remain in them means they conduct their lives aware of him, relying on him, listening to what he says. Then they're able to ask him whatever they want. Here is another qualifier: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us -- whatever we ask -- we know that we have what we asked of him."6 God answers our prayers according to his will (and according to his wisdom, his love for us, his holiness, etc.).

Where we trip up is assuming we know God's will, because a certain thing makes sense to us! We assume that there is only one right "answer" to a specific prayer, assuming certainly THAT would be God's will. And this is where it gets tough. We live within the limits of time and limits of knowledge. We have only limited information about a situation and the implications of future action on that situation. God's understanding is unlimited. How an event plays out in the course of life or history is only something he knows. And he may have purposes far beyond what we could even imagine. So, God is not going to do something simply because we determine that it must be his will.

What Does It Take? What is God Inclined to Do?
Pages and pages could be filled about God's intentions toward us. The entire Bible is a description of the kind of relationship God wants us to experience with him and the kind of life he wants to give us. Here are just a few examples:

"...the Lord longs to be gracious to you. He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for [trust] him!"7 Did you catch that? Like someone rising out of his chair to come to your help, "He rises to show you compassion." "As for God, his way is perfect...He is a shield for all who take refuge in him."8 "The Lord delights in those who fear [reverence] him, who put their hope in his unfailing love."9

However, God's greatest display of his love and commitment to you is this: Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends,"10 which is what Jesus did for us. And so, "If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?"11

What about "Unanswered" Prayer?
Certainly people get sick, even die; financial problems are real, and all sorts of very difficult situations can come up. What then?

God tells us to give our concerns to him. Even as the situation remains dismal, "Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you."12 The circumstances may look out of control, but they aren't. When the whole world seems to be falling apart, God can keep us together. This is when a person can be very grateful that they know God. "The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."13 God may provide solutions, resolutions to the problem WAY beyond what you imagined possible. Probably any Christian could list examples like this in their own lives. But if the circumstances do not improve, God can still give us his peace in the midst of it. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."14

It is at this point (when circumstances are still tough) that God asks us to continue to trust him -- to "walk by faith, not by sight" the Bible says. But it's not blind faith. It is based on the very character of God. A car traveling on the Golden Gate Bridge is fully supported by the integrity of the bridge. It doesn't matter what the driver may be feeling, or thinking about, or discussing with someone in the passenger seat. What gets the car safely to the other side is the integrity of the bridge, which the driver was willing to trust.

In the same way, God asks us to trust his integrity, his character...his compassion, love, wisdom, righteousness on our behalf. He says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."15 "Trust in him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us."16

In Summary
God has offered to answer the prayers of his children (those who have received him into their lives and seek to follow him). He asks us to take any concerns to him in prayer and he will act upon it according to his will. As we deal with difficulties we are to cast our cares on him and receive from him a peace that defies the circumstances. The basis for our hope and faith is the character of God himself. The better we know him, the more apt we are to trust him.

Principle One: God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.

God created you. Not only that, he loves you so much that he wants you to know him now and spend eternity with him. Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."1

Jesus came so that each of us could know and understand God in a personal way. Jesus alone can bring meaning and purpose to life.

What keeps us from knowing God? …



Principle Two: All of us sin and our sin has separated us from God.

We sense that separation, that distance from God because of our sin. The Bible tells us that "All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way."2

Deep down, our attitude may be one of active rebellion or passive indifference toward God and his ways, but it's all evidence of what the Bible calls sin.

The result of sin in our lives is death -- spiritual separation from God.3 Although we may try to get close to God through our own effort, we inevitably fail.

find God - know God - God helpThere is a distance, a gap between us and God. The arrows show our efforts to reach God...doing good for others, religious rituals, trying to be a good person, etc. But the problem is that none of these good efforts actually cover up our sin or remove it.

Our sin is known by God and stands as a barrier between us and God. Further, the Bible says that the penalty for sin is death. We would be eternally separated from God.

Except…for what God did for us.

So, how can we have a relationship with God? …



Principle Three: Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin for us. He now offers us complete forgiveness and a close relationship with him.

Jesus Christ took all of our sins--knowing everything we have ever done or will do--suffered and paid for them with his life on the cross. Jesus died for us, in our place. He did this out of his tremendous love for us.

"…he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy."4 Because of Jesus' death on the cross, our sin doesn't have to separate us from God any longer.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."5

Jesus not only died for our sin, he rose from the dead.7 When he did, he proved beyond doubt that he can rightfully promise eternal life -- that he is the Son of God and the only means by which we can know God. That is why Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me."8

Instead of trying harder to reach God, he tells us how we can begin a relationship with him right now. Jesus says, "Come to me." "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."9 It was Jesus' love for us that caused him to endure the cross. And he now invites us to come to him, that we might begin a personal relationship with God.

Just knowing what Jesus has done for us and what he is offering us is not enough. To have a relationship with God, we need to welcome him into our life…



Principle Four: We must individually accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

The Bible says, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."10

We accept Jesus by faith. The Bible says, "God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."11

Accepting Jesus means believing that Jesus is the Son of God, who he claimed to be, then inviting him to guide and direct our lives.12 Jesus said, "I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly."13

And here is Jesus' invitation. He said, "I'm standing at the door and I'm knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in."14

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, on Monday, dissolved a 31-year-old marriage between one Azeez Muritala and Ramota over religious differences.
NAN reports that Azeez, a truck driver, in his petition, said that he wanted the court to put an end to the union with his wife on the ground that she was not ready to practice Islamic religion with him.
“My lord, I have decided to call it quit with Ramota because I have exhausted my patience with her for too long.
“I got married to Ramota in 1988 so that she could practice the same faith with me.
“Right now, I no longer know anything about her movement as she now became stone-hearted.
“Without my knowledge or approval, Ramota started going to church and bringing home certain kind of water.
“In fact, to my disgust, Ramota brings into my matrimonial home different colours of candle under the disguise of praying with them.
“By this time, she had stopped practising Islam.
“Worst still, Ramota has succeeded in turning our four children against me by poisoning their mind that I am bad.
“Most of the times, she doesn’t stay at home for three days and has recently moved away for long.
“Ramota has even absconded with the first three children without giving me any clue of their whereabouts.
“Just few days ago, she stubbornly came to take away the last child that has been keeping me happy.
“When I can no longer bear the humiliation, I reported to her parents and relatives, but they pleaded with me that she would change,” Azeez said.
The respondent, who consented to the suit, could not deny any of the allegations levelled against her.
Responding, Ramota, a food vendor at Gingede area of Ibadan however, maintained that she had seen practical manifestation of prayer in her life.
“It is true that I now go to church and my husband approved of it.
“When Azeez later told me to stop going to church, I disagreed with him because I needed prayers.
“I did not abscond with any of the children, they wilfully followed me.
“I want to urge this honourable court not to award Azeez custody of the children because he is too busy, they will suffer,” Ramota said.
However, ruling on the matter, the president of the court Chief Ademola Odunade, held that he dissolved the relationship because the duo had refused to be pacified.
Odunade awarded custody of the four children produced by the union, whose ages ranged between 11 and 30, to Azeez because they were grown ups.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected robbers who allegedly killed an Uber driver and stole his car.
The Lagos Police spokesman, CSP Chike Oti, said that the suspects were arrested in Aboki Estate, Lekki, Lagos.
According to a statement by Oti, the suspects were arrested while removing the parts of the stolen Hyundai Elantra car with Reg. No. EPE 676 EC for sale to a scrap metal dealer.
He said the arrest was carried out following a directive from the new Lagos police boss, CP Zubairu Mu’azu, that the RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, should fish out the culprits.
Oti said investigations by the police revealed that an ex–convict and bus conductor, in company of three others now at large, had conspired to hijack an Uber car and sell it off.
”On the said day, the quartet at around 11 p.m. waved down the deceased, Sunday Obasi, in Lekki. They told him they were going to Ikate and he charged them N1,000.
”Before getting to their destination, the suspects told the driver that they wanted to ease themselves. It was at this point they descended on the driver.
”They killed him and pushed him off the car into the road before driving the car to Beach Road, Lekki, where they hid it for two days while looking for buyer and swapped the number plate of the car with a Volkswagen Passat car (FKJ 708 CA) close by,” he said.
Oti stated that investigations were continuing on the case, stressing that the command would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that the fleeing suspect are made to face justice.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recovered vandalised Uber car was currently parked at the RRS headquarters, Alausa, while the late driver’s corpse was deposited at a public mortuary.

APC campaign rally at Lalupon, in Lagelu Local Government Area , Oyo state
No fewer than two people died in a bloody clash between suspected political hoodlums at an All Progressives’ Congress (APC) campaign rally in Igboora area of Oyo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred immediately after the rally held at the old motor park in Igboora on Saturday evening.
NAN reports that the campaign train, led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, had commenced with a road show from Lanlate through Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan before the ralies at Igboora, Eruwa and Omi-Adio.
It was a peaceful rally which saw the governor and the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, acknowledging cheers from supporters who had thronged the streets to show solidarity for the party.
Trouble, however, started immediately after the rally in Igboora as suspected political hoodlums engaged in a bloody clash which left one dead.
NAN reports that another innocent resident, identified to be a younger brother to an APC leader in the community, was hit by a stray bullet and eventually gave up the ghost.
Eyewitnesses told NAN that some suspected hoodlums had accosted the APC governorship candidate to demand for money but were blocked by another group of hoodlums.
This, witnesses said, resulted in heated arguments which later led to the free for all.
The incident had since resulted in counter allegations and reactions from political parties and residents.
While the APC accused opposition parties of being behind the mayhem, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) asked APC to look inwards for the perpetrators.
“Guns were freely displayed by thugs alleged to have been arranged and sponsored by the PDP and some other parties to carry out the dastardly act.
“The mayhem eventually cost two lives. One of which is a younger brother to the leader of our party, Alhaji Olayide Abas. We hereby charge security agencies to investigate and unravel the killers of the deceased.
“It is important to note that the PDP has continually incited the people to cause trouble, having realised that the game is over. The PDP is among the parties that masterminded the mayhem,” APC Communication team said in a statement.
Some opposition party members, who spoke to NAN, described the incident as very pathetic, saying the APC should investigate themselves on the mayhem.
They said that several other opposition parties in the state had visited the community to campaign without violence or bloodshed.
Also, some residents of the community frowned at the sorrowful incident, describing it as a return of thuggery and brigandage to the state.
They told NAN that the people of the community were not desperate people and have always lived peacefully with each other, irrespective of political affiliations.

A 16-year-old girl from Ihiala in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Miss Chinwe, who was married off by her family to a 56-year-old man, Igwilo, has been rescued.
Mr Harrison Gwamnishu, the coordinator of Behind Bars Rights Foundation, a human rights Group disclosed this to DAILY POST on Sunday, saying his group championed the release of the girl by her in-laws from Ozubulu.
An amateur video footage of a traditional marriage ceremony of the girl to her 56-year-old husband had on 28 January surfaced on Facebook, and had been condemned by all.
DAILY POST gathered that the 16-year-old girl, who is a single mother had been married off by her poor parents to the 56 year old man, Izuchukwu Igwilo, who was said to be either mentally unstable or suffering from down syndrome, but from a wealthy family.
Sources in Ozubulu, the hometown of the Igwilos showed that the family(Igwilo) who were mostly rich business men had arranged the marriage to help build a home for their brother, Izuchukwu.
Gwamnishu who pioneered the release of the girl from her husband said, “Our group heard of the marriage on Facebook, on 28 January, and we thought it wasn’t right. We moved from Delta State where we are based to Ozubulu, but the entire marriage seemed shrouded in secrecy.
“The Igwilo family were not willing to speak, nor were the members of the community. We, however, gathered that the Igwilo family were very rich and wanted to use the girl to settle their brother, and that the girl was from Ihiala. Since our interest is not the man, we moved to Ihiala where we met the parents. They were not cooperative.
“The father asked us what our interest in her daughter was, saying that she had married her daughter off to a family that would be able to take care of her, and that we had no reason to begin to meddle in family affairs.”
Gwamnishu said after being satisfied that the marriage actually took place, the group went back home and petitioned the police.
He stated that the girl had on Saturday night been rescued at last, and through the help of his organization the girl has been handed over to Mrs Ndidi Mezue, Anambra State Commissioner for Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Mezue, however, could not react to the handing over of the girl to her, as attempts to reach her on phone failed repeatedly.
But a press release from her office sent to DAILY POST read, “The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs wishes to inform the public that it has received a complaint about an alleged underage marriage involving a girl from Ihiala that is married to a man from Ozubulu.
The ministry is following up on this case as it continues to collaborate with several persons and organisations including security agencies towards quick resolution. The ministry is in contact with the girl’s family, Anambra Police and other interested parties in the matter including human rights activists.”

Thousands of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards have been set ablaze by unknown persons who broke into the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State on Sunday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Joseph Iloh, confirmed this to Channels Television on Sunday.
According to him, the attackers broke in through the window of the office and set ablaze about 15,000 uncollected PVCs, as well as the register containing the list of all registered voters.

Iloh, however, said that the Commission has the authentic list of registered voters at its headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital.
The Police, on the other hand, say they are investigating the matter and the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to book.

GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has again urged Nigerians to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections beginning February 16, by voting and ensuring that their vote counts.

In his words: “Please keep on praying for mercy for Nigeria. We need mercy before, during and after the election. We need mercy. Mercy is the medicine that can change your mess to a message.”
Continuing after the night’s teaching based on Isaiah 60:1, Adeboye enjoined Nigerians thus: “Make sure you vote. It is your civic responsibility. If you do not vote, you do not have the right to complain after the elections.”

The cleric stressed the need for full participation during the election to ensure righteous rule, adding that Nigerians should not just vote, but vote and wait until the results are declared which they should record.

Sunday Vanguard recalls that the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, last year started a political awareness campaign tagged ‘Let my people vote’ at its Youth Center on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Speaking at the event, the assistant Pastor- in- Charge of RCCG Region 1 and coordinator of this initiative, Pastor Ola Adejubee said the General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye, received the idea during the annual ministers’ Thanksgiving in January 2018 who had instructed the ministers to go and collect their PVCs while delivering his introductory message.

First of all, what do you say to people who misunderstand you?
One thing I’ve come to realise in this life whether you like it or not, there are people who are called negative minded people. So no matter what you do, they will have their own preconceived mindset about what you do or your personality. So for me, I don’t mind them because whether you like it or not God exists and Satan has his own people too who propagate evil. So I don’t bother about them. They are behind me. I don’t bother about misconceptions. They are not things I waste my energy on.
Do you mind taking us through some of the challenges you experienced as an actor?
It’s a career that I really love. It’s more of the challenges outside or people’s perception of my roles. When you play a role and you are outside, people tend to think that you are the role that you play. That’s anything I will say is challenging but for my job, I love it and no matter the upheaval or you know several things that may not be right in the process of acting, they aren’t troubles to me. Rather they are what I call propellers that help me to do my job well. The only thing you know like I said is when you finish acting the role, when people see you outside tend to equate the characters you have played to your personal life which is not true and not right but for me I am fine with that because most times when people see you outside and they say, oh she did that role very well. It means I carried out my duty very well so I am excited.
How has it been combing your calling as a servant of God and career as an actor?
Well I thank God almighty for the strength and the power. I also look at it that God is able to manage all the countries in the world and he has the leadership and the managerial skills to coordinate all the whole affairs; so the same thing is bestowed upon me. The same ability to be able to coordinate affairs of being his preacher, his vessel and also an actor but don’t forget again, I am also a pastor. You find out that you don’t preach every day from morning till night, and then from Sunday to Monday. Being a preacher that people call to preach in different places in the country has a timetable and schedule because when they want me to come preach in their churches either in this country or outside, you know there is a time table. So I work with timetable, same thing with acting. So when a producer or director wants to call you for a job, they ask what your timetable is and with timetable and timing, I’m able to coordinate myself. If I have a preaching engagement in a church, I know how to organize myself that it does not clash with my acting schedule as well. That’s if you learn how to prioritise, learn to manage and then keep them in their right proportion.
What are you working on currently, since it’s a new year?
On my future projects, I don’t talk about it. It’s under wraps. You are pregnant of it. You don’t talk about them until they come to manifestation. Anybody who goes about saying, I want to do this, I want to do that, witches and wizards will come and hijack the ideas. So we don’t talk about future projects, we see them better when they are manifested.
Can you recall your first pay check as an actor?
Oh, that’s a long time ago. My first movie actually was ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’. The producer can go check their record. I was paid N30, 000. I played two scenes and that was a lot of money then. I gained fame playing two scenes of ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’ by Gabosky production. It’s on their record. I am not like other actors that will come and misquote figures or upgrade figures when they know it’s a lie. So my very first pay as an actor for my first movie was in ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’ part 2. I played the role of Ezenwanyi which means the queen and I got N30, 00 for that.
Where do you draw your inspirations from?
Well first and foremost, I will say God is my ultimate inspiration. Why, because His word in the book of Proverbs 18 Verse16 says, ‘the gift of a man makes a way for him and brings him before kings and great men’. Also the book of Matthew 24 when he talks about the servants who are given the talents to multiply them, that story inspired me to use my talent for his kingdom. These timeless words filled with life’s wisdom are my bed rock and has inspired me on how to live the life.
Are you saying your inspiration comes from God’s word?
Of course, yes, God’s word generally inspires me. Look at the story of king David when he was in trouble had to act by disguising and making himself look like he was mad or he was an imbecile to be able to get across. And I looked at these things and I said, oh these are gifts from the almighty God and you can develop and perfect with that. So often when I am working on set, I get my inspiration from God that I need to do the best because God is a creative person. I am doing my work as an actor; his ultimate Spirit comes upon me that I am to make it real. Creativity attracts you know and for me I want to enlarge my coast because it’s been said in the holy book in the Bible that those of us are blessed with gift because every human being is blessed with gift so if you don’t use it properly, you will give account of it. So for me like you asked, God is my great inspiration and then I do not want to be held accountable that I did not use the gift that he gave me while on earth.

Villagers of Amaba Isuikwuato in Abia state, were thrown into panic after bodies of three ladies were found along the Amaba, Ezere road in the region.
Information from Abia Facts revealed that te gunmen invaded the house of the resident pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Amiyi Obilohia in Isuikwuato, stabbed the Pastor and his wife and kidnapped his two daughters.
The mutilated bodies of the pastor’s daughters were later found along the Amaba and Ezere community border – with their heads and breasts removed.
The injured pastor was rushed to the hospital for treatment as the corpses of the victims have been recovered.

Woman dies after giving birth to quintuplets

A Nigerian woman, Ntiwunka Jessica has taken Facebook to share details how she got dumped by her boyfriend after she cooked an unpalatable 'okro soup' for his family.
Jessica revealed that it was her first time getting along with her boyfriend’s family and so he asked her to prepare something for them with her own money and so she did.
The result was disastrous.
Jessica then reveals that since she visited and cooked for his family, he hasn’t been returning her calls due to the soup she cooked.
Sharing a photo of what she cooked for them, Jessica wrote:
“Hanty susu please approve, I want justice ooo. So this guy that wants to marry me called me on Saturday to come make food for the whole family and also introduce me to the parent, then I asked for money to buy foods stuffs that I will be needing, he said I should use mine that he would refund later, I said Ok, after making the sweet soup and Eba, I left, up until now this guy has not picked my call nor call back, infact I don’t want to marry again ooo, all I want now is my 10k I used for the soup ooo, pls my wobe children how do I get it back.”

A lady has been brutally murdered by an unknown person in a hotel. It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified lady was allegedly lured to the local hotel and killed in a gruesome manner.
Her throat was slit and her gullet removed, according to an online report.
Facebook user Adegwa Emmanuel Terkura who hails from Benue but lives in Minna, Niger state, shared the story as he warned ladies to be careful of who they follow to prevent something like this.
Adegwa wrote; “Girls be careful of who you follow.not every body that is real. This lady was murdered days back by an unknown person in a hotel. Her gullet was removed, let this be a deterrent to other young girls out there”.

Nigerian researchers have shown that both the seed and pulp of African star apple or local cherry, Chrysophyllum albidum, possess both suppressive and curative anti-malaria property.
The scientists demonstrated the presence of antimalarial constituents in the chemically uncharacterized samples (fruit pulp and seed) of wild star apple, which may be valuable in pregnancy where it may possibly serve as an intermittent preventive therapy (IPT) against malaria.
According to the study published in journal Ancient Science of Life, the sampled plant parts can be used for treatment and prevention of malaria both in pregnant and non-pregnant individuals.
The study titled “Traditional Consumption of the Fruit Pulp of Chrysophyllum albidum (Sapotaceae) in Pregnancy may be Serving as an Intermittent Preventive Therapy against Malaria Infection”
The researchers include: Chibueze Peter Ihekwereme, Frances Kaosiso Okoye, Sandra Chinenye Agu, and Angus Nnamdi Oli.
Botanically called Chrysophyllum albidum, African star apple, which belongs to the plant family Sapotaceae is an edible tropical fruit known by various tribal names. It is called Utieagadava in Urhobo, Agbalumo in Yoruba, Udara in Ibo, Efik and Ibibio, Ehya in Igala, Agwaluma in Hausa tribes of Nigeria.
African star apple is used in traditional folklore medicine to cure various diseases. It is used traditionally as an antiseptic, anthelmintic, mosquito bite repellent, for stomach ailments, tonic, antiscorbutic, astringent, diuretic, headache, arthritis, and digestive and appetite stimulant, an anti-oxidant and for colds, coughs and sore throats.
In the last two decades, Chrysophyllum albidium has been subjected to extensive phytochemical, pharmacological and clinical investigations and many interesting outcomes in the areas of insecticidal activity, anthelmintic (worm expeller), anti-osteoporosis (treatment brittle bone disease), radical scavenging, anti-cholinesterase, cardiac diseases, anticancer, antimicrobial, eye conditions, inflammatory bowel disease and improved lung function have been reported.
Earlier studies published by The Guardian showed extracts of African star apple or local cherry as ‘cure’ for drug-resistant infections and malaria. African star apple had also been validated to reduce blood sugar, cholesterol and in treatment of ulcer, diarrhoea, wound healing, among others.
Indeed, the pulp of the fruit is commonly consumed by all in South East Nigeria, especially pregnant women. The leaves are frequently used to treat malaria, blood pressure, anemia, skin eruptions, diarrhea and stomach ache.
The roots are used in the treatment of sterility, s*xual asthenia, and asthma; while its seeds are mostly used to treat intestinal worms and haemorrhoids.
The bark is used against cough, icterus, yellow fever and also malaria, while the fruit is used for the treatment of dental decay.
Eleagnine, an alkaloid isolated from C. albidum seed cotyledon has been reported to have antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.
Antinociceptive is the action or process of blocking the detection of a painful or injurious stimulus by sensory neurons.
Studies have shown that the leaf extract of C. albidum contains antiplatelet, hypoglycemic, and antibacterial compounds. The methanol bark-extract contains antiplasmodial substances.
Meanwhile, malaria has been shown to affect fertility, population growth, savings and investment, worker productivity, absenteeism, premature mortality and medical cost. Malaria primarily affects human health especially in pregnancy where it is detrimental to both mother and unborn child.
Commonly, malaria causes anemia in the mother, and low birth weight in the fetus. The risk inherent from untreated malaria in pregnancy outweighs the adverse effects arising from treatment. Plasmodium falciparum causes more maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality than non-falciparum infections.
IPT is the administration of antimalarial doses to pregnant women in malaria endemic countries who have not shown obvious signs of malaria infection. Such women are given full curative regimen whenever malaria is evident. Generally, treatment of severe malaria includes parasite clearance and supportive measures such as monitoring of blood sugar and potassium levels, as well as management of high fever and the seizures it may provoke. Antimalarial resistance and treatment costs are among the current issues that necessitate an urgent need for malaria control especially in endemic regions.
According to the researchers, the concept behind this study is that the discovery of antimalarial constituents in the bark of C. albidum could be a pointer that the fruit pulp, commonly consumed by pregnant women may also have anti-plasmodial property. This preliminary study, therefore, was designed to investigate the presence of antimalarial principles in the pulp juice and seed of the plant.
The researchers wrote: “The result of our study shows that both the seed and pulp possess both suppressive and curative anti-plasmodial property. Previously, methanol bark extract of C. albidum was reported to suppress early plasmodial infection (per oral) by 74.20 per cent and 62.90 per cent at 1000 and 1500 mg/kg/day respectively. Reported percentage reductions for the curative tests on Day 7 were 82.86 per cent, 97.14 per cent, and 77.14 per cent at 750, 1000 and 1500 mg/kg respectively. On comparison with equal doses (at 1000 mg/kg/day), it becomes obvious that both the ethanol seed extract (97.30 per cent) and the pulp juice (81.08 per cent) have higher chemo-suppressive potency than the methanol bark extract (74.20 per cent).
“On the curative effect, the result from the bark (97.14 per cent) is comparable with that of seed extract (94.87 per cent) and the pulp juice (92.31 per cent). Even though the statistical relevance of the comparison between our results and the previously published data remains to be verified, our results seem to suggest the seed has more antimalarial principles than the pulp.
Interestingly, when the positive control was statistically compared with either the pulp or seed at 500 mg/kg, it was observed that there were no significant differences suggesting that the plant material was as effective as the control.”
The researchers added: “The sampled plant parts can be used for treatment and prevention of malaria both in pregnant and non-pregnant individuals. It also shows the plant has a potential of serving as IPT against malaria in pregnancy. Pregnancy predisposes to malaria infection, and IPT was initiated to control the menace of the infection to both the mother and the unborn child. Traditional consumption of the pulp by pregnant women does not suggest any harm to the mothers or their babies.
“Also, the results of the oral acute toxicity test show the pulp to be considered safe. This opinion is strengthened by the experience of the consuming public since they have not associated it with any untoward effects. Conversely, Lethal Dose (LD)50 of the plant methanol bark extract in mice was calculated to be 1850 mg/kg intraperitoneal, suggesting the bark might be toxic at clinically effective doses. Perhaps, this may also offer some explanation why the methanol bark extract demonstrated a higher antimalarial activity at a lower oral dose of 1000 mg/kg/day, than at 1500 mg/kg/day per oral. Irrespective of the above, it is still necessary to scientifically establish safety using appropriate pharmacological models.”
According to the study, phytochemicals present in both the ethanol seed extract and the expressed juice from the pulp include alkaloids, flavonoids, cardiac glycosides, and tannins. In addition, the ethanol seed extract also revealed the presence of saponins and steroids.
Previous studies found alkaloids, anthraquinones, saponins, cardenolides and tannins in the leaf, stem and bark of the plant. Alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and saponins have been associated with antimalarial property. Saponins are detergents and might alter cell membrane properties of protozoans through their surface activity. Alkaloids are a major class of compounds possessing antimalarial activity; quinine is one of the most important and oldest antimalarial drugs.
Eleagnine, tetrahydro- 2 – methylharman and skatole have been isolated from the seeds of C. albidum. Eleagnine, an alkaloid has antimicrobial, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.
According to the researchers, the compounds responsible for the activity may possibly have short half-lives. “A comparison of the level of suppression on Day 4 and Day 7 shows no statistical difference suggesting there was no continued activity after Day 4. Drugs with long half-lives such as Mefloquine, Pyrimethamine, Piperaquine, and Lumefantrine continue to act many more days even after discontinuation of treatment,” they said.
The researchers concluded: “There are two key conclusions of this study. Consumption of the fruit pulp should be encouraged especially in pregnancy. Secondly, it provides an avenue to explore possibilities of obtaining an antimalarial drug molecule.
“This study demonstrates the presence of antimalarial constituents in chemically uncharacterized samples (fruit pulp and seed) of C. albidum. The fruit pulp, seeds, and bark of the plant have antimalarial property. Consequently, consumption of the fruit pulp by pregnant women may offer some protection against malaria, and may possibly serve as IPT against the infection. Furthermore, these findings suggest these plant parts have the potential for isolation of lead compounds from their extracts. Hence, further studies should be carried out on the plant to harness its antimalarial property.”
Another recent study published in Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences evaluated the antimalarial and liver function potentials of Chrysophyllum albidum stem bark.
The researchers from the Department of Biochemistry, School of Life
Sciences, Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State, evaluated the antimalarial potentials of methanol extract of the stem bark of C. albidum and specific Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Alanine transaminase (ALT) and Aspartate transaminase (AST) activities in both sera and livers of Plasmodium berghei infected mice treated with methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark.
The result of the phytochemical screening indicated the presence of anthraquinones, steroids, tannins, alkaloids, glycosides, terpenoides, flavonoids, saponins and phlobatannins.
Percentage parasite inhibition was calculated to be 56.97 per cent, 74.10 per cent, 85.26 per cent and 92.83 per cent for groups treated with 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg, 600 mg/kg body weight of the methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark and 5 mg/kg body weight of Chloroquine (standard drug) respectively.
It was observed that, the specific ALP, ALT and AST activities in both sera and liver samples of the group infected but not treated were significantly higher than the infected and treated groups. There was significant difference in the specific ALP, ALT and AST activities between groups treated with 5 mg/kg body weight of Chloroquine and 600mg/kg body weight of the methanol extract of
C. albidum stem bark. However, there was no significant difference (p˃0.05) in the specific ALP, ALT and AST activities between the groups treated with 200 mg/kg and 400mg/kg body weight of methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark.
The ability of the methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark to inhibit parasite multiplication/progression may be attributed to the presence of various bioactive constituents such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloid or saponins and further support the ethno medicinal claim of the use of other parts of the plant in the treatment of malaria.
Plant extracts are one of the most attracted sources of new drugs for the treatment of liver disease. Evidences have shown that antioxidants derived from plant sources may be useful in preventing the deleterious consequences of oxidative stress and there is increasing interest in the hepato-protective potentials of natural antioxidants contained in spices, herbs and medicinal plants.
A considerable amount of natural antioxidant agent including alkaloid, saponin, xanthones, triterpenes and tannins has been isolated from medicinal plant. On the array of medicinal plant with hepato-protective potential, is Chrysophyllum
albidum.
It was observed from this study that, methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark was most effective at a dose of 600mg/kg body weight. It has been well established that plants whose phytochemical compounds include anthraquinones, alkaloids and saponins may have antimalarial activities. These established findings are similar to those obtained in this study as methanol extract of C. albidum stem bark was found.
Yet another recent study by researchers from the Department of Chemical Science, Federal University, Wukari Nigeria and Department of Chemistry, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, found that based on the presence of β-amyrin acetate in C. albidum, the plant could be a viable source of antioxidant and cytotoxic agents in cancer chemotherapy in the near future. C. albidum may also be used for the treatment of malaria, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, heart disease, stroke, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, toothache, rheumatic pain, and other inflammatory related disorders and cancer because of the β – amyrin acetate.
The study was published in the Journal of Chemical Society of Nigeria.
They concluded: “It can be concluded that the structural elucidation by spectroscopic methods (IR,1H NMR, 13C and NMR) of C. albidum yielded a compound characterized as β –amyrin acetate. The beta-amyrin acetate has use as anticancer, antiparasitic, antispasmodic, antihyperglycemic and as herbicide, fungicide and antibiotic in medicines. α, β- amyrin has the potential to combat acute pancreatitis by acting as an anti- inflammatory, antioxidant agent cytotoxic and anticancer properties.
“The antioxidant activity of can be attributed to the beta- amyrin acetate (-amyrin acetate). It may be stated that the result of the present study demonstrated new property of -AA as a potent lipid-lowering agent. The plant extracts could therefore be seen as a potential source for useful drug and this justifies the claims by the traditional healers that the C. albidium leaves are used to cure some illness. The continued traditional medicinal use of these plants is therefore encouraged.”

If Lot hadn't be charitable and not hostile with the Angels, he might have been among those that were destroyed.
Verse 3-4 interprets that irrespective of the circumstance around us or consequences that might result from the good we are doing, we should always defend, protect and stand for the truth and render help when needed.
Verse 7-8 interprets being sacrificial to one another and to GOD. Lot suggested his v*rg*n daughters in replacement with the Angels of GOD
Verse 9-10 taught that we should be watchful and mind the way we talk and react to people who you don't know who they are (reflecting to the people that wanted to have s*x with the Angel of GOD)
Verse 11-12 taught that we should always heed to GOD'S warning and do not take it for granted
Verse 13-14 taught that our charity yields GOD'S blessings because it was Lot's charity and non hostile that made the Angel that GOD sent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah review their purpose and saved them from the destruction. We should always be serious in the things of GOD in order to review HIS good purposes and fulfil the purpose in us.
Verse 21-22 taught that generosity, giving open doors of blessings. Sacrificial giving can make one become rich and it covers multitude of sins
Verse taught about GOD'S patience to our sins. When we don't acknowledge our sins and constantly continue sinning not having remorse, GOD'S wrath will befall and there will not be anyone to help. Is it the devil that wants your destruction or your fellow human? Nobody but HIM alone.
Verse 27-28 interprets that we should always be prepared for GOD'S coming because of the evil and abominable things that are presently happening.
Verse 29-30 interprets that GOD saved lot because of Abraham based on Abraham's faith,interceding prayers and above all his righteousness. Interceding for one another contributes a lot in people's life because our interceding prayers impulses GOD to help, convert and rebuild those we are interceding for based on our request. And your consistency in praying for people reminds GOD of helping them and the good intention you have towards people to render help or anything can make GOD to grant you your heart desires even if you didn't ask for it from GOD. And also if we can be serious with GOD a lot of souls will be saved because GOD'S kept Abraham in mind while saving Lot because of his righteousness and prayer even though Lot was also a righteous man. In other words, our actions preach more than words
Verse 31-32 taught that when we are living our lives we shouldn't neglect our children. We should inculcate GOD'S knowledge and morals in them(reflecting to Lot's daughters)
Verse 35-36 taught that when the situation around us seems impossible, we shouldn't neglect GOD and do it in our own way which is sinful(reflect to Lot's daughters sleeping with there father), but acknowledge that there is nothing impossible for GOD to do by believing and having trust, faith in HIM coupled with persistence in prayer and patience no matter the magnitude of the impossibility in the eyes of man. In other words, don't allow your situation to decide for you but let GOD be for there is nothing impossible for HIM to do.
Verse 37-38 taught about those that their wives have only girls but no boy and those that their wives are barren, they should acknowledge GOD by their believe, trust, faith, perseverance and patience and shouldn't do against GOD'S command by marrying another wife or do anything ungodly

Why? because you can't be asking GOD for a favour in the morning and HE answered you and prepared it for you and in the night you fornicate, deceiving yourself that the grace of GOD covers all. What do you take GOD for? if someone offend you repeatedly without remorse and also asking favour from you at the same time, what will inspire you to help the person? Nothing. Is it not when the person truly repent and stop taking advantage of your mercy and love for him or her that you will grant him/her the favour? That is how it is between us and GOD. HE is willing to help us but our sinful ways drag us far away from HIM when HE stretches HIS hands. It is when we come closer that the blessing reaches us. Your success is connected to your spiritual life; your intimate commitment with GOD, because it it when you take HIM serious in your life that HE takes your problems serious. It might be difficult for us because it requires crucifying bodily desires for GOD. And trying to get that by short cut neglecting GOD cost both our physical and eternal life and doesn't last and there is no peace. You pray, you don't get answer or the prophet prophesied success but didn't come to pass. check your spiritual life and commitment with GOD because it determines your success; you might say others are prospering but you are not, is my sin bigger than theirs? But the questions is :do you know the secret of their success? Do you have the same fate with them? What does GOD require from you to make you successful?does HE require being sacrificial to the needy?or holiness?or both? Will you forget HIM when HE gives you the money? Are you strong enough in the spirit to be able to resist the temptations that will come from the blessing HE will give you ?Are you so special to HIM that HE doesn't want you to be taken away from HIM but wants you to be spiritually fit and anchored in order not to be taken away from HIM when the blessing comes? Do you work as if it depends on you and pray as if it depends on GOD? Are you lazy waiting for manna to come down from heaven? Summary of Genesis 19
We should have a stand in GOD and in doing HIS work. Do we have time for GOD or for earthly things. We should possess the character that we are known for as a child of GOD. Reflecting to Lot's stand in protecting the Angels and at the end they were made blind by the power of GOD possessed by the Angels👉🏼no matter the consequences that comes from helping or saying the truth, we shouldn't give up in doing the rightful thing and GOD will always support you in the good thing you are doing because of HIM. Lot's wife was turned into pillar of salt because of worldly thing. Don't serve two masters at the same time, you either be loyal to one or disobey the other. Are you going back in the things of GOD because of worldly things? Or because of the circumstance surrounding us? HIS love, mercy and grace is sufficient for us but only need to be activated by our actions through trust, faith, persistence and patience in prayer.
"Heaven help those who help themselves". The sentence has wrong use and right use ie wrong application and right application👉🏼reflecting to Lot's daughter's abominable act. They helped themselves by sleeping with their father and naturally they accomplished their aim neglecting GOD'S full capacity. That's wrong application of the sentence. But rather the rightful application is to acknowledge GOD that HE is capable, have trust and faith and be prayerful and which is the "help themselves" while heaven(GOD) helps because of persistent in prayer coupled with faith and patience. Another one is when we pray but stay idle without making any effort towards what we prayed for, it wouldn't come down from heaven because it is when we make an effort that GOD supports and blesses the work of our hand. And also our eagerness and prayer coupled with faith yields GOD'S blessings
The devil made Lot's daughter to believe that there was no man in the city to sleep with in order to bear children for there father to continue there father's linage. From this reflection, does our situation make us believe there is no hope? Or the circumstances around? Or what is happening in the world, Does it make us believe that there is no faithful and good wife or husband in this present generation because of what is into existence presently? Don't allow the enemy to deceive you because of the situation that seems very impossible in the eyes of man like he deceived Lot's daughters,and they got what they wanted by their own power by committing an abominable act. Therefore, don't allow your situation make you run away from GOD by committing a sinful act but rather run to HIM because HE is ever capable and more bigger than your situation. In other words, don't neglect GOD like Lot's daughters did
Our Christianity should be a persistent, rigid and sincere Christianity. Be rigid and don't be flexible to people's deceitful, confusing, discouraging and drunken words. Don't be drunk in your brain by the words of people, be rigid and don't allow their words and action confuse, deceive and lure you into sin. One doesn't mind the inspectors while run a race because if one looks back, one will fail the race.
Alcohol makes one to do what he can't do and make him commit abominable act or sin that he can never do when in his right senses(reflecting to Lot being drunk by his daughters to sleep with them) Assuming Lot was in his right senses, he wouldn't have done that. The sin he couldn't commit in Sodom and Gomorrah that made him to be saved among those sinful people, he committed it because of alcoholism. So, as a good and dedicated Christian keep away from alcohol.

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Is satan good ?

Student : No.

Professor: Where does satan come from ?

Student : From … GOD …

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer.)

Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them ?

(Student had no answer.)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?

Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?

Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn’t.

(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.

Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class was in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

Have you ever gotten tired of a relationship before? Have you ever looked at the person you are with… and be like, “I’m tired, I just have to leave this relationship?” I bet you have! Most times, we give up on relationships simply because we are oblivious of the stage we are in. We struggle with what we don’t know.
There are five stages of relationship that demand different levels of approaches, responses and maturity. Most people give up on relationships because they are unwilling to outgrow their previous approaches and mentalities to relationships.
The trajectory of relationships, most times, normally go from the excitement mode through the sweet, nasty, boring down to the complacent and irritational mode. No doubt, each stage of relationships would put a high demand on your commitment, compassion, emotional capacity and maturity.
Whether it is a relationship between couples or lovers, the stages are the same, only with some mild adjustments.
The Attraction Stage
This is the stage where you always have B*tterflies in your stomach. It is the stage where you are being controlled totally by the excitement hormones. You are totally obsessed at this stage. The physical (s*xual) attraction is at its peak, making your palms sweaty, your face blush and your heart race in quick successions.
At this stage, you are constantly drawn to and attracted to the sight, sound and smell of the other person.
The Romantic Stage
This is also the stage where you are being controlled totally by the excitement hormones. This unique stage is filled with a lot of euphoria and exuberances and is ascribed with the age long expression, “love is blind.” Your endorphin level is unprecedentedly high at this level and you begin to feel a unique sense of peace and security about the relationship.
This self-deluding stage draws your attention only to the good things in your partner and blankets the bad ones. It is filled with a lot of costly assumptions and it is often called the “assumption stage.”
The truth is that most of the assumptions at this stage are wrong and can be very costly and many times, they cost us our relationships.
The Intellectual Stage
Leo Tolstoy said: “Nothing is so necessary for a young man as the company of an intelligent woman.” This is the stage where ‘intelligence’ and not ‘attractiveness’ is s*xy.
Most people who are not compatible intellectually normally see relationship as hell at this stage. This is where the romantic love begins to normalise or wear off and you now engage more in intellectual discourse or intercourse. You begin to observe the flaws and inadequacies of your partner. All hidden flaws begin to encounter open intellectual bashings.
Those in the attraction and romantic stages probably think they would be in these stages forever, which is the most delusive assumptions in relationships.
This is also called the ‘irritational stage,’ because all irritations and frustrations peak at this stage. In fact, at this stage, couples or lovers begin to question and challenge their previous assumptions and confirm the veracity of their previous claims. It is a stage where you look at your partner and you may erroneously conclude that both of you have no future together.
Those who decide to stick together at this stage do so either by acknowledging the flaws or holding on to the positive things that attracted them to their partner in the first place. This is the most difficult stage of relationships, because it requires deep conviction, compromise and sacrifice to still stick to your partner at this stage.
Some of the challenges of the intellectual stage are the issues of comparism, insecurity, abuse, complexes (inferiority and superiority complexes), defensiveness, identity crisis, incompatibility and external interferences.
Each of them requires different approaches to manage, but they all require that the lovers or couples build a healthy self-esteem. Except in the cases of extreme abuse and irreconcilable differences, there is a great hope that making necessary adjustments, deep commitments and mutual respect can take the partners to the next level.
The Acceptance Stage
This is the stage where you would need to make a lot of adjustments; a stage where you would need to accommodate the other person’s flaws and inadequacies.
The acceptance stage shifts us from ‘assumption’ to ‘reality.’ This is where you need to strongly accept your partners, while helping them work on their flaws. In a conjugal relationship, the realities of life, work, household responsibilities, children and individual life styles determine how long this stage will last.
Maturity Stage
Bill Lemley said: “When nobody around you seems to measure up, it’s time to check your yardstick.” This is the stage where we need to totally abandon unhealthy and unrealistic expectations.
To live a productive and fulfilling relationship, we must progressively abandon unrealistic expectations. When we relinquish our unhealthy and unrealistic expectations of others, we begin to see and appreciate their worth. It would take many years for you to realise that true love is more than just a feeling. It is accepting a person for who they are and respecting the differences.
This is the final stage where you totally accommodate your partner and even sometimes overlook many things. It is a stage where you learn to make yourself a priority and see the strength in your differences.
Many times, relationships don’t make it pass the intellectual stage. This is where most break-ups, divorces and separation happen. You must be able to evaluate where your relationship is to know the approach that is needed.
The pertinent question to ask is this: What stage are you in? And how can you keep or regain the ‘highs’ you felt in the attraction and romantic stages?
Sometimes, dealing with your partner’s flaws could take a toll on your attraction to him/her.
Are you losing romantic interest in your partner? You can spur it back to life with ample date nights. Don’t stop the playful things you used to do while you were growing in love. Hug frequently and enjoy the taste of long kissing if you are married couples. Spice up your s*xual life and bring in varieties as married couples.
If you are not yet married, respect boundaries and exchange gifts almost every time. Don’t wait for special occasions to show your love to your partner; make every moment count. Don’t just allow intimacy to happen; initiate intimacy.
Enjoy the attraction and romantic stages if you are still there, but you must know that a great level of sacrifice lies ahead of you. There is no perfect marriage or relationship; everything only gets better as we begin to work on them. Perfect doesn’t exist; it is what we all strive towards.
You must be willing to make adjustments and changes in order to make your relationship a fulfilling one.
Stop comparing your partner with others. Instead, cultivate the habit of appreciating your partner daily and give them space for improvement.
There is a common saying: “What you appreciate, appreciates.” Many times, we don’t know what we have until we lose it or it is found by another person that considers it more precious.
Stop taking each other for granted in relationships, as what you take for granted, gets taken.

‘Casual indiscriminate s*x’ with multiple partners can intertwine the energies and UNPURE spirits of a lot of people into your own aura if they are not properly cleansed through strong deliverance and prayer. This type of "soul clutter" can be NEGATIVELY felt by you or your partner's subconsciousness. Your spouse may divorce you, but God will still love you. Your parents may abandon you, but God will still love you. Your friend may betray you, but God will still love you. A stranger may ignore you, but God will still love you.

Even when you can't love yourself or you don't feel lovely, God will still love you. His love is higher than the heavens, deeper than the earth's inner core, bigger than the ocean and wider than the skies. God's love has no limits. President Paul Kagame has portrayed late Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa and pan Africanist as an African model worth to emulate.

“South Africa! This evening, I join you to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela. He never gave up on Africa. He believed that Africa’s children can achieve anything,” Kagame said at the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa, Sunday December 2.

“Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100” was organised to mark the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth and honour his legacy, particularly his call to “Be The Generation to End Extreme Poverty.”

Themed “Ensuring Quality Nutrition and Health for All,” the Festival is a Pop and Policy music festival featuring various artists and keynote speakers. The latter include world leaders and private sector players.

Global Citizen is a media and advocacy organisation based in New York that engages young people around the world to achieve progress in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Since 2012, 14,2 million actions by Global Citizens have helped generate commitments and policy announcements from leaders across the world valued at over USD 37.9 billion.

These commitments are set to help improve the lives of more than 2.25 billion people around the globe.

For Kagame, this is Mandela’s legacy that should never be taken for granted.

“It is our responsibility to continue building on his legacy. We must commit to ensuring good nutrition for our children, and eliminating the preventable diseases that threaten Africa’s potential,” the president said.

“We must get the most out of our agriculture and health systems, which hold massive potential to create jobs and prosperity for all.”

On top of this, the president defended what he believes that would make Africa a thriving continent- trading in and with each other.

“As Africans, we also want to move freely around our continent, do business with each other, and build friendships across borders,” Kagame said.

He called upon the youth to be advocates of African change.

Earlier on at a SDG Reception hosted by Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Kagame recognised the hosts for their efforts and commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Kagame said, that the energised network Global Citizen has created, “is a good example of the support that the SDGs continues to attract.”

Romance, love and relationships are all about trust. Over the course of our lives, we repeatedly enter into relationships that don’t always work out. Sometimes they fail amicably, sometimes painfully. But, after a period of healing, whether complete or incomplete, we find ourselves taking romantic risks again, entering a new relationship that could result in us being hurt further down the road.

Risk Versus Trust

Each time we engage with another person, striking up a conversation with them on the bus or in a coffee shop, each time we ask someone on a date or agree to go on a date if they ask us, each time we agree to a more “serious” and committed relationship, each time we decide to move in with somebody, each time we get engaged, each time we say, “I do” at the altar – each one of those times we are taking a risk. Each time we are risking painful failure and rejection in the near or far future.

So why and how do we keep doing this over and over? The “why” is because we’re human beings with an innate need for love and companionship. The “how” is because we take a leap of faith in deciding to trust the other person in the relationship.

man-offeringThat trust comes from within us, not from the other person, though it is certainly affected by their behaviour, by the “vibe” we get from them. But a leap of faith is a leap – there is no bridge to cross – and the courage to leap comes from within us, not from the other.

Think of standing on the verge of a cliff, looking down at a deep abyss – who knows how deep? – and wondering whether you can jump across to the other side. You use your best judgment, of course.

You know yourself – how strong your legs are, how far you can jump, how frightened you are of heights. And you know about the other, outside factors you can’t control, like how slippery or slanted the far side of the pit is, or how bright the light is so you can see where you will be landing.

On the Edge of a Potential Relationship

Now alter the idea. You’re standing on the metaphorical edge of an abyss – a potential relationship. You take account of all the things you know about yourself – how brave you are, whether you’ve been hurt in previous relationships, and how badly, how lonely you are, how much you are attracted to this other person. And you get the best sense of them you can, of whether they seem attracted to you and whether they are a kind, gentle, loving person rather than a jerk out to play with your feelings.

You combine all this information, which is never quite enough to know for sure, and you take that leap of faith. You decide to trust this other person and you make your move – you ask them out on a date, or say yes to their request for a date, you agree to move in with them, or marry them, or whatever.

I’ve spent so much time going through this to illustrate what a tricky thing trust is.

Trust is a decision you make about the relationship, or a decision the other person makes about you. To answer this reader’s question, “Why can’t she trust me?” is not a simple exercise.

Since trust is a complex thing, with many different ingredients, most of which are out of your control, there is no easy answer. She has to decide to trust you. There is no way for you to control her decision. Most of the decision to make that trusting leap of faith comes from her own mind and heart, based on what has happened to her in previous relationships. If she’s been burned repeatedly, or had her heart badly broken, she has to recover from that herself and decide to trust romance yet again.

You can assure her and reassure her that your intentions are true and honest, but that only goes so far. She may have believed very strongly in those other relationships, the ones that failed so painfully.

The (small) Part Under Your Control

The only part of this situation that is under your control is a small part – how you come across as a potential partner. Don’t lie to her. Be honest about what you think and feel. Also be honest about what you want from your relationship, but don’t be pushy and overwhelming. Be considerate of her feelings. If you act honestly and honorably, you give yourself the very best chance of coming across as trustworthy. And that’s about all you can do.

The rest is up to her. Though it may drive you crazy, you have to be patient and wait for her to decide she can trust you. Only she can make that leap across the abyss, even if you are standing on the other side, waiting with open arms, assuring her it is safe. There’s still an element of risk, and only she can decide if it’s worth it.

By focusing on yourself, I mean taking care about how you treat her – honestly and honourably. Communicate clearly about what you want. Let her know you are hopeful that the relationship can move forward.

A Time to Back Off

But once you’ve let her know what you want, back off and let her have time to think. Don’t let yourself get demanding or pushy, no matter how impatient you are – you are likely to come across as controlling or smothering, and this will just drive her away for sure. Don’t argue with her and try to browbeat her into trusting you. Your relationship – if it progresses – will be much stronger if it is built on a foundation of genuine trust rather than if you pushed her into it too early.

As a final note, you need to decide for yourself how long you are willing to wait for her to trust you. This is a two-way street. But decide for yourself and keep the decision private for now. Check in with yourself honestly about how you feel. Don’t issue an ultimatum to her, threatening to leave if she doesn’t change her mind.

Give her the dignity of making her own decision, and give yourself that dignity, too. In the end, if she can’t ever decide to trust you, it’s time for you to trust yourself and go find somebody else.

A 30-year-old woman was brutally beaten by her boyfriend, leaving her face almost unrecognizable. He accused her of cheating on him after a stage kiss with an actor.
The woman identified as Londiwe Ngcamu , from Sobantu, KZN, South Africa was rushed to the hospital after the attack.
The director of Seven Days War, Mvuselelo Buthelezi, said they were shocked and devastated by Londiwe’s attack.
He said he visited her in hospital on Sunday and she said her boyfriend was angry because he thought she was really dating a member of the cast.
“I can’t believe this man didn’t know that Londiwe was just acting,” said Mvuselelo.
Londiwe said her boyfriend waited for her at the bus stop on Saturday night. She said he was drunk and accused her of cheating. He then took her to his room and started beating her.
She said she managed to escape in the early hours of Sunday morning when he fell asleep.
“When I got home my siblings called the police and they took me to hospital,” said Londiwe.
KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala said a case of assault was opened at the Mountain Rise Police Station.
