Sports / Chelsea Must Hit Back In Spurs Efl Clash by Toughgray(m): 02:43 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Marcos Alonso has challenged his Chelsea team-mates to prove they are motivated to arrest their alarming slide in Thursday's League Cup semi-final showdown against Tottenham.
Furious with the latest in a growing list of punchless displays, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri launching a scathing attack on his Chelsea stars after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Questioning their mental strength and revealing he finds it "extremely difficult" to motivate his players, Sarri risked alienating a squad that had already rebelled against his predecessor Antonio Conte last season.
The Italian's blast was entirely understandable after so many tepid efforts from Chelsea this term. Bet Now NaijaBet

Business/Investments / Green House To Take Off In Ondo State As Akeredolu Charges Stakeholders To Spee by Toughgray(m): 01:01 pm On 1 Jan 2019
A major dividend of one of the foreign trips that President Muhammadu Buhari made last year during which the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was on his entourage, would soon begin to manifest in diverse folds on the Ondo State economy.
Receiving officials of Bosman Van Zaal from The Netherlands , in his office in Akure, Governor Akeredolu said the state was prepared to encourage the company to develop a veritable Green House Project that will impact positively on agriculture by making the sector creatively attractive to young school leavers, ensure food security and equally encourage export in profitable magnitude.
While expressing the willingness of the State Government to do business with the Dutch firm, Arakunrin Akeredolu said he found so fascinating, the exchange programmes available for youths to study in one of the Universities in the Netherland which is the best in the world in Agricultural studies.
The governor charged the State Technical Committee on Green House Project to expedite actions on the proposal of Bosman to accelerate the take-off of the technological inspired mode of agriculture in the state.
Introducing the company, its Technical Officer, Mr. Robert Van Donk said Bosman has the capacity to bring under one roof to deliver complete turnkey facilities and specialistic monodisciplinary projects that are fully automated for the production of greenhouses, foil-covered greenhouses suitable for harsh climatic conditions.
He added that the Green House firm was reputed in food, ornamental plants and plants for cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
Also a Bosman economist, Mr Nico de Groot, noted that the astronomical growth in agricultural and horticultural products have necessitated the need for innovation. He said Bosman has been reputed for enhancing the world in a smart, efficient and valuable manner.
An official of the Nigeria-Netherland Business Association, Mr Eric Okunde was happy that Ondo State was exploring the Green House Project of one of the global leader in the sector. He assured that the business deal would be beneficial to the state and the investing firm.

Crime / Pipeline Vandalism: Navy Arrests Alleged Notorious Kingpin by Toughgray(m): 12:49 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The Nigerian Navy on Tuesday said it had arrested Mr Shaibu Ogunmola, an alleged notorious pipeline vandal kingpin under its Operation Awase in Lagos. Operation Awase was set up by the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy in 2014 to tackle the vandalism of the NNPC pipelines in Majidun, Ikorodu and other parts of the state and to crave the maximum cooperation of host communities
Rear Admiral Obed Ngalabak, Leader of the operation, told newsmen that Shuaibu and his boys were known for vandalising oil pipelines under the Altas Cove covering about 70 kilometers.
The Atlas Cove Depot in Lagos was designed to receive imported petroleum products and through the line products are distributed to various part of the country.
The Ilashe Community where Shuaibu operates, drums were buried by the sides of the each pipeline to siphon products when being released from the Atlas cove to other depots.
“Two weeks back, we got information about the operation of some people in Ilashe, part of Atlas cove. “Following that information, we came and realised that the oil pipelines have been divided into fields by three people, Shuaibu, Barshiru and Dele.
“The arrest of Shuaibu which we did last week on Jan. 17 was in line with the operation Awase which is about the protection of oil pipelines.
“He is the ring leader and has been in this business for over 30 years,’’ he said He said that Shuaibu had groomed some boys in the business adding that his arrest was significant in ensuring the end of vandalism in Nigeria.
Ngalabak said Shuaibu would soon be handed over to relevant agency for immediate and proper prosecution to serve as a deterrent to his boys and others in the line of business.
“We hope that Shuaibu’s arrest will yield result and that proper people in position will do all that is required to punish him,’’ he added He assured that the operation would not rest until all those involved in oil pipeline vandalism were arrested and brought to book.
“We still have about three Shuaibu’s, we have Dele, we have Bashiru, and one other person and we are after them.
“We are not going to rest until we get them, except if they leave Nigeria but we will make sure that we get them.
“And we know that they will not leave because this is where they make their money; but if they leave here, that is good for us because that is our aim but if they come back, we will get them,’’ he said.
He called for support on logistics for the operations to work effectively and urged Nigerian to support every effort that would help to curb pipeline vandalism for economic growth and development in the country.
Also, the General Manager, Security, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Sam Otoboeze, said that the arrest of Shuaibu meant celebration for the corporation.
“The arrest means celebration for us because of the deterrent impact, not only the prosecution of the key character, but the message that will go out.
“We do hope that the way it is handled will determine to what extent the success will be sustained. We celebrate that arrest and we thank the Nigerian Navy for picking him up and want to hope that this continues until so many other Shuaibus’ are arrested because certainly, they are more than 10,’’ he said Otoboeze noted that Shuaibu and others in the business of pipeline vandalism remained the major enemies of Nigeria.
“You can imagine the wastages, not the one stolen but the one wasted for it to drip into their well, underground tank; you can imagine what that is.
“So, the economic sabotage is massive and a fight to bring it down is something to be celebrated. It is also celebration of reliving the country from the shackles of poverty.
He assured that the NNPC would continue to strengthen its partnership with all the agencies to ensure effective protection of the nation’s oil pipelines for economic growth and development in the country.
“We have a kind of robust intelligence network, outside our own system, which we can also support the government.
“Also, to be the voice of the agency when they require support, like logistic to make them succeed, that we will do,’’ he added.
This, he noted would continue to strengthen the relationship and ensure that we keep the fire burning. Commenting on the economic values of the Atlas Cove pipeline, he said: “the economic benefit is huge, one is that the history of fuel scarcity will be gone, the origin, the foundation, the tap root of fuel scarcity was from the attack of this place.
“The moment this place is tampered with, there will be fuel scarcity; just imagine the quantity of fuel that goes into the soil wasted.
“Then imagine the more that is scooped and sent across to Cotonou, because there is their major artery of their supply.
“So, if this battle is won, we will be able to think and it might even help to crash fuel price, because when you have it in surplus, then of cause, in demand and supply argument of typical economics, it could come down.
“So, we need it, it is a war for the nation not a war for one person, it is not for security agencies alone or NNPC alone.
“It is for all and sundry because down the line it affect those that are yet unborn, including the children in the school and the aged who are waiting for their pension.
’’ Meanwhile, in an interview with Shuaibu, he denied being a vandalism kingpin adding that he had no idea of the reason he was arrested by the Navy. “I don’t know why they arrested me, I was in my house, I was going to pray when this people came and arrested me. “I am a business man, I am a hotelier,’’ he said

Obaseki’s Education Reform: Expert Trains Edo Poly students, Staff On Innovative Product Design, Deployment
Systems Engineer and Visiting Lecturer to Edo State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Marvin Ama-Amadasun, has charged academicians and students in tertiary institutions to prioritise projects on innovative product design and deployment to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic advancement.
Speaking at the 3rd Eminent Lecture Series held at the Polytechnic complex in Usen, near Benin City, Dr. Ama-Amadasun said that universities and polytechnics can contribute immensely to development if they can make use of available natural materials to innovate new products in building technology, software design, manufacturing, medicine and energy production, among others.
With the lecture entitled Leveraging ICT Towards Practice in the Digital Age: Software Tools as Catalysts for Innovation, Dr. Ama-Amadasun said that the exploitation of natural resources is indispensable in developing a strong economy, urging various governments to prioritise efforts that stimulate and drive technological advancement and deployment.
Dr. Ama-amadasun said, “Natural materials like bamboo trees, metals and steel can be used to manufacture items such as furniture, bicycles, keyboards, mouse, monitors for computers as well as building materials for the production of fences, gates and wardrobes.”
He urged students and participants to take advantage of the advancement in modern technology to deploy software tools to develop new products that drive development.
At the event, Rector of the Institution, Prof. Abiodun Falodun, said that the Polytechnic has grown in the last year, and explained that the lecturer, Dr. Ama-Amadasun, is one of the numerous Diaspora lecturers who have been engaged to entrench the institution’s internationalisation drive.
According to him, “With this lecture, we are announcing to the world, the ongoing effort to reposition this institution as a first-rate tertiary institution that fosters intellectual development.
“We are ensuring that scholars share their thoughts with the host community, the media and the country at large so that they can stimulate debate and entrench the culture of interrogating and questioning backdated ideas.”

Crime / Top Police Squad Under Fire For Seizing Slain Suspect’s Asset, Pocketing Million by Toughgray(m): 12:29 pm On 1 Jan 2019
elite crime-busting police squad has come under fire from human rights organisations for its treatment of the family, and takeover of multi-billion naira properties of a suspected kidnapper who was killed by the police a year ago.
The Intelligence Response Team is now scrambling to extricate itself after being accused in separate petitions by the Nigeria Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International of gross human rights abuses and illegal expropriation of suspected proceeds of crime.
The NHRC said in an October 2018 petition to then-Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris that the the IRT, led by Abba Kyari, a deputy police commissioner, had been illegally depleting the asset of Collins Ezenwa, a suspected kidnapper who was gunned down in January 2018.
Mr Kyari denied the allegations, warning PREMIUM TIMES not to publish the complaints because Mr Ezenwa was a notorious kidnapper who had committed untold atrocities before he was killed.
The police in Imo State accused Mr Ezenwa, a former police corporal, of leading a syndicate of deadly abductors. He was killed during an exchange of gunfire along Enugu-Owerri Expressway.
Mr Ezenwa was riding in a vehicle with two of his cousins when he was killed, and the police accused the trio of being kidnappers and circulated gory images of their brutal killings on the Internet.
The NHRC disputed the account of the police on how Mr Ezenwa was killed in its petition to Mr Idris, who left office last week, but the country’s rights institution acknowledged Mr Ezenwa’s wealth was inexplicable and mind-boggling.
It was unclear how Mr Ezenwa hit his fortune. He resigned from the police as a corporal on N47,000 a month salary in November 2017, and travelled to Malaysia for only a month. But soon as he returned from Malaysia, he embarked on a spending spree, purchasing houses and businesses in nine figures.
There are other accounts that said Mr Ezenwa had been travelling to Malaysia since at least 2014, but kept the trips away from his wife and family members, and continued to work as a police corporal. He joined the police in 2009, and was 31 at the time he was killed on January 27, 2018.
The suggestion that Mr Ezenwa had been travelling to Malaysia since 2014 could mean that he had been doing suspicious businesses even while in the police. He resigned from the force on November 17, 2017, long after he had become popular across the Southeast as a stupendously wealthy young man nicknamed ‘E-Money!’
One NHRC official told PREMIUM TIMES that due to his “obscene” lavishness, Mr Ezenwa was advised by senior police officers, many of whom he had been allegedly generous to, to formally resign from the police rather than being declared absent-without-leave.
A video uploaded on YouTube in June 2016 depicted Mr Ezenwa in primitive spraying of the national currency. This appeared to show that the deceased had other sources of income far bigger than his salaries and allowances as a non-commissioned police officer.
In 2017, the police detailed two officers to provide security for Mr Ezenwa on expensive subscription basis, according to his family and rights experts investigating the circumstances preceding his death.
A hotel linked to Mr Ezenwa in Enugu was estimated at N220,000,000. He also had two duplexes and eight blocks of flats worth a combined N180 million, according to the NHRC petition. These were the properties that were identified as of the time the petition was sent to Mr Idris on October 23, 2018, and they did not include a fleet of exotic vehicles that Mr Ezenwa owned.
Nosa Uhumwangho, a police prosecutor working on the matter, told PREMIUM TIMES Sunday night other properties linked to Mr Ezenwa have also been identified in Imo and Abia States, estimating his worth in billions.
In a follow-on petition which Amnesty International separately sent to Mr Idris days before his retirement on January 15, the rights group accused Mr Kyari and his team of victimising Gift Ezenwa, the deceased’s widow, and other members of the family, while also depleting the properties he left behind without any court order whatsoever.
Mr Idris did not act on the petition before his retirement.
Sharing the spoils
Both NHRC and Amnesty International told PREMIUM TIMES Mr Ezenwa was killed by the police special anti-robbery squad in Imo State, and Mr Kyari’s IRT only took over the matter in a desperate plot to take over his properties.
The IRT has earned special recognition for its ability to track and apprehend high-profile crime suspects. The June 2017 arrest of Chukwudimeme ‘Evans’ Onwuamadike marked perhaps the highest point for Mr Kyari and his team. In April 2018, he was promoted as a deputy police commissioner from an assistant police commissioner only a few months before.
But Mr Kyari’s interest in Mr Ezenwa’s matter after he had already been killed has “greatly unsettled” the two rights groups working to curtail the “excesses” of the police in the matter, one activist said.
Damian Ugwu, a researcher with Amnesty International who worked on the case, told PREMIUM TIMES IRT personnel started aiming for Mr Ezenwa’s properties immediately after they took over the case from the Imo State police command.
The IRT was set up by the inspector-general, and it has a vast jurisdiction on police activities across the country. Personnel attached to the squad are allowed to make arrests in any state in the country without recourse to the sitting state police commissioner.
“Because of their unlimited powers in the police, they dubiously took over the case from Imo State command and started identifying possible assets of Mr Ezenwa shortly after he was killed,” Mr Ugwu said. “They threw his wife and infant son out of some of his properties, including his hotel, and started collecting rents from them.”
“More than a year later, they have not approached any court for an order to confiscate the properties,” Mr Ugwu said. “Our findings showed that they were just collecting rents and putting the money in private accounts for their own use.”
Mrs Ezenwa was four months pregnant when her husband was killed. She gave birth on June 17 to a male child. She was arrested less than two months later on August 11 and taken to Lagos by Mr Kyari’s team, where she was detained for two weeks, she told PREMIUM TIMES. She spent two nights in a police custody in Enugu before being moved to Lagos, she said.
Ms Ezenwa said Mr Kyari ordered her release without charges on the grounds that she would bring all the original titles of the properties to them, a demand she found suspicious.
But even without giving the documents to Mr Kyari, the police chief ordered all identified properties confiscated.
De-Inglish Hotels and Resort in Enugu, estimated at N220 million, was taken over by the IRT, which had been receiving proceeds of lodging and other services to private bank accounts. Eight blocks of flats on 21, Edinburgh Road, New Layout, Enugu, which was also linked to Mr Ezenwa, is now being managed by the police squad.
PREMIUM TIMES obtained two bank accounts which the NHRC said earnings from the hotel and flats are being paid into. Tochukwu Okeke and Ozougwu Stanislaus were the names on two Zenith Bank accounts.
Both NHRC and Amnesty International have warned the police to cease further victimisation of Ms Ezenwa and demanded immediate return of her late husband’s properties to her until there is a court pronouncement on the matter.
“No one really knows how Mr Ezenwa made his money,” Mr Ugwu said. “But for a police team that has long portrayed itself being devoid of criminality to expropriate the properties he left behind without any court order is unfortunate.”
Mr Ugwu said several family members and associates of Mr Ezenwa were also arrested and victimised, triggering a slew of fundamental rights suit at various jurisdictions in the Southeast.
“All the cases about the matter in different courts have to do with police abuses and people begging the courts to save them from police harassment and confiscation of their properties without any evidence they were fully or partially-owned by Mr Ezenwa,” Mr Ugwu said. “But there is no single case that was instituted by the police for the confiscation of any of Mr Ezenwa’s properties or those of others that the police have taken over illegally.”
A vicious pushback
Mrs Ezenwa said all her bank accounts were frozen, leaving her in penury with her six-month-old baby. She accused the police of seizing the only N50,000 she had on her when she was picked up in August 2017 and put through a harrowing experience with her infant in an unkempt detention facility.
The Ezenwas’ case is one of scores of alleged human rights violations brought to the NHRC against the police and other security agencies by residents of the Southeast and South-South. A panel which NHRC constituted to hear the allegations began sitting last week in Abuja, and the Ezenwas may come up today, according to officials familiar with the schedules.
Mr Kyari, however, denied victimising Mrs Ezenwa and her child or seizing their properties without due process.
After stridently warning against any publication relating to the matter, the police officer later said he had the powers to confiscate the properties without a court order under Armed Robbery and Firearms Act, a process of government enrichment which rights advocates criticised as indistinguishable from robbery.
“He was a kidnapper as big as ‘Evans’,” Mr Kyari said by telephone Sunday evening. “We have been working to track other members of his syndicate since he was killed and we were called to take over the case.”
But there are no provisions granting the police the power to confiscate properties without recourse to the courts, either under the Armed Robbery and Firearms Act or any other Nigerian law, according to Abdul Mahmud, convener of the Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL).
“Section 42 of the Nigerian Constitution says only the court can deprive a citizen of a disputed property,” Mr Mahmud said. “The Armed Robbery and Firearms Act was inherited from the military era, even then, it cannot supersede the Nigerian Constitution.”
Mr Mahmud said the practice is very common in the Southeastern part of the country.
“It is either they accuse you of being an armed robber or a kidnapper,” Mr Mahmud said.
“The end is always that they take over people’s properties even when they have not proven that they were proceeds of criminal activities.”
The accused police commander, Mr Kyari, threatened to press defamation charges or “anything else” to clear his name if this story is published, saying it took him years to build a public image of a smart and hardworking officer. He has built a large social media following for some of his team’s exploits, which are often widely publicised by himself and the police media department.
Mr Ugwu, however, said the Ezenwas’ case was mild in comparison to other gross violations of citizens’ rights linked to Mr Kyari and other members of his squad. The police chief denied allegations of serial abuses and corruption.
Mr Kyari said Mrs Ezenwa was arrested and detained for weeks because she was a suspect in the alleged crimes of her late husband, and was granted tentative bail without charges as a nursing mother.
He was, however, unable to explain why his team could not secure a court order for forfeiture a year after Mr Ezenwa was killed. He also did not comment when PREMIUM TIMES sent him the two bank accounts where the earnings from the hotel and flats were going into and sought explanation for why incomes on properties said to have been taken over by the police were going into private hands.
Mr Kyari initially said his team had approached federal courts to seek forfeiture of Mr Ezenwa’s assets, and cited Mr Uhumwangho as the police lawyer handling the cases.
But although Mr Uhumwangho, an assistant superintendent of police, said he had filed for forfeiture of the asset at a federal court, he admitted first hearing would come until January 28, next week. He was unable to explain why it took the police so long to seek forfeiture of the property of a man they killed and labelled as a notorious kidnapper.
Although Mr Uhumwangho promised a response to our Sunday evening enquiries on the private bank accounts in which incomes from the properties are being deposited, he had not done so as of 4:09 p.m. Monday.

World Politics / Agbaje Vows Pdp Will Resist Apc Rigging, Promises To Follow Jakande by Toughgray(m): 12:22 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, OON, has vowed that they would resist attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the forthcoming general elections.
He promised to follow in the footsteps laid by Second Republic Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, whom he praised for making landmark innovations in the educational system and in the provisions of infrastructure like potable water and roads.
According to him, unlike the current dispensation that had spent the last 19 years and colossal budgets that had not led to remarkable improvement in the life of the Lagosian, Jakande’s four years had been replete with unforgettable achievements in several areas.
Speaking in Eti-Osa and Kosofe Council on Sunday and Monday as part of a series of town hall meetings being convened across the state, Agbaje told residents that PDP was determined to prevent the rigging that had robbed him and other party candidates of victory in 2015.
In Eti-Osa, he met with members of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) who placed some demands before him while he met with a cross section of traditional rulers, members of the PDP as well as business and community leaders in Kosofe on Monday.
Addressing his audience in Ogudu, headquarters of Kosofe Local Government, Agbaje stated that the people of the state should resolve to guard and protect their votes this time.
Agbaje, who narrowly lost the position to the incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode in 2015, told his audience that the PDP in the state would do everything lawful to win all elections slated to hold in the state.
Speaking in Yoruba, Agbaje said, “This (governorship) election is a process that would lead to the freedom of our people. It is a process that would free us from tyranny, graft and waste. APC members know that they have been rejected by the people and the only option left for them to remain in power is to rig.
“This time, we are ready for them. There won’t be any opportunity for them to rig the coming election. I am urging our women to come out. You know if the women prevent you from wrongdoing and you try to venture into it, it would fail. We will vote peacefully and make sure that our votes count at the end of the day.”
He lamented the fact that the people of Lagos were in dire need of potable water, promising that when elected, his government would make conscious efforts towards resuscitating the moribund mini-water works across the state.
The governorship hopeful had on Sunday assured residents of the various communities in Lekki axis of the state that his government would build a new coastal road and demolish the toll gate on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Lamenting the fact that only one road led into the various communities within the axis, Agbaje said, "There should be a second road to the one we have here. We are going to ensure that the road is properly constructed. The road is there. It is just for us to properly rehabilitate it so that the people would properly utilise it."
Taking a cue from the current traffic logjam in the Apapa axis of the state, Agbaje stated that his government would ensure that the right measures were put in place to forestall a recurrence when the Dangote Refinery became operational.
"I live in the Apapa axis of the state so, I know what it is to live with traffic logjam. In two years’ time the Dangote Refinery will come on board but the current rulers are not doing much to anticipate the disruption that would come with it," he said.
On security, Agbaje stated that efforts would be geared towards community policing in a way that would ensure greater mobility that was needed for quick response in times of emergency.
Earlier, the President of the association, Olorogun James Emadoye, had reeled out series of issues plaguing the axis, with a call on Agbaje to address them on being voted into office.
Emadoye listed bad roads, flooding, lack of primary healthcare facilities as well as inadequate schools as major headaches in the axis.

Education / What Are Some Problems That Students Encounter When Writing Academic Papers? by Toughgray(m): 12:15 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Many students face the issue of falling grades and the unimproved writing skills in the initial phase of their academic life. Academic writing is one of the most noteworthy tasks in the academic field and homework tasks. Academic papers are assigned to the students in order to check out their understanding of the particular topic. Academic papers are the sources of knowledge from a compelling start to a comprehensive conclusion. While writing an academic paper, all the students are suggested to be very cautious and well aware of each and every instruction is given by the university lecturer and the common known steps of the particular type of academic writing. Being one of the professional academic writing services in the US, the experts at the portal of Academic Writing pro know that most of the students are likely to face common problems. For that reason, we are highlighting these common problems on our portal as well as giving constructive tips to the students to avoid tackling the issues.
Writing the irrelevant or extra information:
Many students habitually write down anything and everything they find matching with the title. The most common motive behind this error is that they do not pay concentration to the approach and restriction of the title. For case in point, if there is a title like this: “Discuss the negative impact of air pollution on the health of children.” In this case, the students are neither supposed to state the other types of pollution nor they should gather information regarding any other age group here. Most of the students just jot down all the information which already exists in their mind about pollution individually and on a societal level. They do this because they do not know what they should do. Thus, the students should divide each part of the topic and then write down specifically or take the help of some expert to understand the title.
Writing in Hustle:
This is a much-known proverb that “Haste is waste”. Writing the academic paper is a very prolonged and time-consuming practice. Many times it occurs that students take this task lightly. Moreover, they delay it till the time limit arrives. In addition to this, sometimes the students squander a lot of time only in doing one part of their assigned homework. This action results in the delay of other tasks and the academic papers are badly affected. For that reason, the learners should deal with time efficiently in every task of their academic homework, as well as they should take enough time to read and think about the topic, formulate some rough notes and then jot down the detailed essay. Students are suggested to create many drafts and revise their work gradually to tackle their problems.
Information sources and guiding websites:
Students often face problems regarding information gathering and genuine sources. They find it so difficult to read whole books and search in the newspapers. They find it hard to go to different places to get information too. There are many tools as well as search engines which are dedicated for the academic help of those students. For case in point, Google Scholar, Talk to Books, LinkedIn, etc help the students to get knowledge. These all websites help the students to explore many things related to their topics and help them gather fine material. Also, websites like Grammarly and Turnitin help the students to improve their academic papers. These engines help the students to amplify their academic paper writing. Also, students are suggested to consult the experts. There are many academic writing services which have hired capable writers and provide the academic writing service in a reasonable cost and trust-able manner.
Lack of self-confidence:
Some students do not believe in themselves that they can achieve the writing tasks. They get panic when they are assigned to such tasks. The tip for them is: To relax their mind and body. Get easy on your topic and give yourself some time and a few chances. And once you have done the writing task, do not over think about it. Feel free and fresh. Give a smile and calm your mind. Some students do less work and take more stress. It is advised to the students to keep their mind relaxed and focus on the positive sides. Celebrate the fact that you have completed the research. Give your mind a time to energize for the next tasks. Motivate yourself! Give yourself the strength and the push that you have achieved something today.

World Politics / Inec - We Have Uncover Plot By Politicians To Use Food Vendors For Vote Buying by Toughgray(m): 12:12 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Plans by some political actors to use food vendors around polling units for vote-buying in the forthcoming general elections, have been uncovered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This observation was made by an observation team, led by Chief Observer, Mrs Maria Arena, in Abuja, on Monday, on a visit to INEC, the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
INEC was determined to improve elections and ensure that votes count, and had taken steps to address the disturbing trend of vote-buying by politicians, Yakubu said.
The steps included modification of the administration of polling units to make it difficult for voters to expose their marked ballot papers on day of election, he said.
Also, the commission had introduced partial ban on the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices by voters while in the voting cubicles.
“We are also introducing the rolling and flattening of ballot papers by voters on day of election.
“We are training our election duty staff, in addition to voter education and sensitization, on this new innovation. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the sanctity of the ballot.’’
The chairman went further to expose the plans by political actors to use food vendors “around polling units with large voter populations as collection points for cash-for-votes as well as other forms of material inducement to voters on election day’’.
“We are aware of this trick. It will not work.”
The claim that INEC had outsourced the recruitment of election duty staff to partisan actors, Yakubu denied.
The Commission had established clear criteria for recruiting its ad hoc staff and Collation and Returning Officers, which, according to him, has been the practice over several electoral cycles, Yakubu stated.
“In addition, there is a clearly established system of vetting all election duty staff before they are engaged.
“Therefore, the claim that the Commission has outsourced the recruitment of election duty staff to partisan actors is the usual allegation on the eve of elections and should be disregarded.
“With 25 days to the 2019 General Elections, the Commission’s attention is firmly focused on the conduct of credible elections. We will not be distracted into a fatuous debate.’’
Yakubu also stated that the commission was not unaware of the complaints arising from the collection of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as they were being addressed.
“We are committed to ensuring that all voter cards are made available for collection by registered voters who should collect the cards in person.
“There will be no collection by proxy.”
The commission had enhanced the functionality of the Smart Card Reader that would be used for the elections, Yakubu said.
“Clause 10 of the Regulations and Guidelines recently released by the Commission make the use of Card Readers mandatory. It is an offence to accredit a voter by any other means.”
The EU was one of the long-standing partners of INEC in deepening Nigeria’s electoral democracy, through the EU-Support for Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN), Yakubu described.
“We have implemented all the recommendations made by the EU Mission in 2015 that are within the powers of the Commission to do.
“These include simultaneous accreditation and voting system which we introduced on Jan. 9, 2016 and used it to seamlessly conduct off-season elections into 194 constituencies.
“We have similarly introduced the continuous registration of voters. Over a period of 16 months, from April 27, 2017 to Aug. 3, 2018, over 14 million new voters were registered,” he said.
He assured the EU that INEC preparation for the 2019 general election was on course.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Arena, had said that EU would deploy 40 observers to all states of the federation during the elections.
The EU would also have its Parliamentary observation mission on ground during the exercise, Arena said.
“We will issue two preliminary reports after the elections. We will work strongly with all the stakeholders of this country.
“We will also have the final reports two months after the elections, with recommendations.
“We really appreciate the work that INEC has done with the previous recommendations after the 2015 elections,” Arena said.

Business/Investments / Whatsapp Puts Limits On Message Forwarding To Curb Rumours by Toughgray(m): 12:09 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp is limiting worldwide the number of times a user can forward a message to five, starting on Monday, the popular messaging service looks to fight “misinformation and rumours”, company executives said on Monday.
Previously, a WhatsApp user could forward a message to 20 individuals or groups.
The limit of five is an expansion of a measure WhatsApp put in place in India in July after the spread of rumours on social media led to killings and lynching attempts.
“We’re imposing a limit of five messages all over the world as of today,” Victoria Grand, Vice President for Policy and Communications at WhatsApp, said at an event in the Indonesian capital.
WhatsApp, which has around 1.5 billion users, has been trying to find ways to stop misuse of the app.
This followed global concern that the platform was being used to spread fake news, manipulated photos, videos without context, and audio hoaxes, with no way to monitor their origin or full reach.
The messaging service became part of the political battleground in Brazil’s presidential election on October 2019, with far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro facing claims of using the app to spread falsehoods related to his main opponent.
Bolsonaro, who ended up coasting to victory, has denied the charges.
The messaging app was also used to mobilise support for massive truckers strike in Brazil during May 2018.
The truckers strike blocked the country’s main roadways for about 10 days and hampered everything from fuel deliveries to gas stations to shipments of commodities at ports.
The app’s end-to-end encryption allows groups of hundreds of users to exchange texts, photos and video beyond the oversight of independent fact checkers or even the platform itself.
WhatsApp will roll out an update to activate the new forward limit, starting on Monday, WhatsApp’s head of communications Carl Woog said.
Users of devices running Google’s Android system will receive the update first, followed by users of Apple Inc’s (AAPL.O) iOS.

Weird News / Re: Can Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Conduct Free, Fair, Transparent Election, Pdp Quizzes? by Toughgray(m): 10:15 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Primeauto:Can Prof. Mahmood Yakubu conduct free, fair, transparent election, PDP quizzes?

By Nwafor Sunday

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday, charged the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to conduct an election devoid of electoral malpractices.

inec

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Disclosing this at a press conference organized by the party, to address issues of urgent national importance and alleged claims of fresh threats to the security of our nation by Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Kola Ologbondiyan, Director Media and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, admonished Yakubu not to succumb to pressure especially the allegation that he (Yakubu) is being compromised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Buhari Presidency with offers of huge sums of money, choice property within and outside Nigeria, as well as juicy appointments to his relations as bribes, in return for the rigging of the elections in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.

Ologbondiyan advised him to do the country good by conducting a free, fair, credible and transparent election com February 16, 2019.

Read the full statement below:

Call On INEC Chairman To Resist Pressure From APC and Buhari Presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed all the circumstances surrounding the activities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as presently constituted, and after a careful appraisal of comments by critical national and international stakeholders, we challenge INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to rise above the manifest compromises and conduct the 2019 general elections in a transparent manner.

Kola Ologbodiyan
The entire nation is worried and the palpable fear of every Nigerian today is whether Mahmood Yakubu can conduct an election, which will indeed be free, fair, credible and transparent.

Amina Zakari and the “I don’t care” syndrome

This is particularly as allegations are rife in the public space, that the INEC Chairman is being compromised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Buhari Presidency with offers of huge sums of money, choice property within and outside Nigeria, as well as juicy appointments to his relations as bribes, in return for the rigging of the elections in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.

The PDP urges Prof. Yakubu to resist any such pressure. This is especially as many Nigerians fear that this is the reason behind the compromising insistence by INEC to lump together the accreditation of voters and voting, a situation that will muddle up the process and pave the way for participation of aliens, underage and unregistered voters and allocate fictitious figures in favour of President Buhari and the APC.

This scenario is also feared to be the reason INEC is succumbing to pressure by the Buhari Presidency to retain Mrs. Amina Zakari, President Buhari’s relation by marriage, as head of the collation center, where she is being positioned to alter genuine results and allocate fictitious figures in favour of President Buhari.

We already have information that the geo-spatial centers created by the INEC Chairman in the six geo-political zones have also been dubiously duplicated by Mrs. Amina Zakari in all the zones from where APC and Buhari Presidency intend to assemble fictitious votes and transmit same to INEC’s data base and situation room.

We are also aware that the process of employing Ad-hoc staff that will function as electoral officers, particularly in the Presidential election have already been compromised to favour the APC under Mahmood Yakubu’s watch to manipulate the process.

Presently, more than half of the card readers to be used in the elections have been rendered obsolete and non-functional. We have less that 30 days to the elections and these card readers have not been upgraded. We have it on good authority that these will be used to create confusion on election days and facilitate the use of incident form, which will hamper transparency.

Don’t allow PDP sabotage democracy, Presidency warns

The PDP, therefore, in the strongest terms, charges Mahmood Yakubu to demonstrate his credibility and ability to conduct free, fair and transparent elections by taking urgent and decisive steps to show that he has not been compromised by the APC and the Buhari Presidency.

To do this, we demand that Prof. Mahmood Yakubu immediately rejig the electoral guidelines in a way that accreditation must be first concluded, number of accredited voters ascertained and openly announced before actual voting. Anything short of this will only validate the position of Nigerians that INEC has been compromised by the APC.

Similarly, Prof. Yakubu cannot claim to be committed to a credible election with the continued stay of Amina Zakari as head of the collation center, in spite of manifest conflict of interest. Prof. Yakubu must without further delay remove Amina Zakari from this sensitive position, if he indeed intends to conduct a credible collation of Presidential results.

Furthermore, to hedge any infraction from the dubious duplication of the geo-spatial centers by Amina Zakari, the PDP insists that INEC’s final collation center must be made open to agents of all the Presidential candidates as well as representatives of national and international observers.

While we note that President Buhari has bowed to pressure by Nigerians and eased out Ibrahim Idris as Inspector General of Police, we urge him to also lend credence to the electoral process by easing out his relation by marriage, Amina Zakari, from INEC.

We are aware that Amina Zakari has since taken over the duties of the INEC Chairman on the behest of the Buhari Presidency. Today, the world has turned our nation to a mockery and they are aghast as how a sitting President can be insisting that his relation must be the retuning officer in an election in which he is going to participate.

Nobody wants to annex Kwara, Lai Mohammed replies Saraki

In the same vein, following revelations that the process of recruiting INEC Ad-hoc staff has been compromised to favour the APC, the PDP insists that Prof. Yakubu must publish the names of all the ad-hoc staff that have been recruited, in their respective constituencies, to enable voters in those areas to assess the independence and integrity of such electoral officers.

We charge Prof. Yakubu to note that this election is very crucial to the survival of our nation and that he is now at the epicenter of the future of our country. He must therefore rise above offers of compromises surrounding him.

We believe that Prof. Yakubu has a name to protect. He must know that there is a life after office. We hope and pray that he will not end up like the disgraced last Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotum Idris. Prof. Yakubu should know that Nigerians will hold him directly responsible if the 2019 general election is derailed.

Claim of Security threats by Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The PDP has noted the address today, by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, acting on behalf of the Buhari Presidency, that some groups are being mobilized to stage violent attacks in various parts of our country.

We have noted the detailing of awareness of the said plots by Alhaji Lai Mohammed, which exposes manifest complicity at very high level.

In the light of this and the already displayed desperation by the APC ahead of the general elections, the PDP calls on Nigerians to hold President Buhari directly responsible for any escalation of violence in our nation.

It is imperative to state that the PDP finds the claims of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, irresponsible and ludicrous. It is just a measure for building the ground for framing up and arrest of leading members of the opposition as he has just confirmed our concerns.

Severally, we have alerted the nation that the APC and the Buhari Presidency, having come to the reality of their imminent and disgraceful loss at the polls have embarked on a strategy to foment crisis in our dear nation and blame the opposition.

INEC releases 7-step Voting Procedure

The PDP, as known to all Nigerians and the world is a party that preaches and function by peace. We have conducted rallies in many states and geo-political zones without a record of violence. The APC cannot make a similar claim of a peaceful rally in its few attempts at interacting with its members and the public.

Its party primaries ended in violence and multiple deaths. Its rally in Lagos state ended in a fiasco and recorded fatalities. Its Presidential candidate is known all over the world for inciting supporters against peace-loving Nigerians, when he said that baboon and dogs will soak in their blood.

On behalf of Nigerians, we thank Alhaji Lai Mohammed for mustering the courage to bring the nefarious plans of the APC to the public. The PDP and Nigerians are prepared for a peaceful election in defence of our democracy.
