Postsmania General / Apc Campaign Likens Atiku's Us Trip To 'yahoo Yahoo' Boys Scamming Their Victims by crischiano: 11:59 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council says the visit of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the United States of America “smacks of things local ‘yahoo yahoo’ boys do to scam their victims”.
For the first time after more than a decade, Atiku stepped foot in the US on January 17, 2019.
SEE ALSO
There had been speculations that Atiku stayed away from the US allegedly due to the belief he would be arrested over allegations of corruption, including one by US congressman Williams Jefferson that part of the $100,000 cash found in his refrigerator was intended as bribe for Atiku for his role in helping American firm iGate secure a contract to expand broadband in Nigeria.
In a statement by Festus Keyamo, spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, issued on Sunday, APC said the visit was a "non-event", and “nothing but a downright catastrophe because rather than dispel the fact of indictments hanging over his head, it further confirms and reinforces those facts”.
The statement read: “In our press release issued on Sunday, December 30, 2018, titled ‘When the Thief is Shouting Thief: The Case of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’, we correctly predicted as follows: ‘By running for President of Nigeria, Atiku intends to get some immunity from prosecution. Already he is hoping to obtain a visa to visit the US, as a guest of the State department, a concession that the US will grant to a Presidential candidate of Africa’s biggest Nation’.
“Therefore, we were not surprised by his visit to the U.S. For us, this visit is really a non-event considering the issues involved in the forthcoming election. However, we have bad news for those who think this is a momentous event for Atiku Abubakar: the visit was nothing but a downright catastrophe because rather than dispel the fact of indictments hanging over his head, it further confirms and reinforces those facts for the following reasons:
“The visit had all the trappings of a fugitive sneaking into America under a ‘special diplomatic waiver’. For the candidate of the major opposition party in Nigeria, it is an absolute disaster that the visit was not announced ahead of time in Nigeria, with his programmes and itinerary clearly spelt out, the decent and customary minimum standard of such visits. This culminated in his close aides issuing conflicting statements about the visit when he was already on his way there. In fact, one of them called Paul Ibe actually spoke to the Press that his principal was nowhere near America! Such was the secrecy of the planning and execution of that visit.
“It is shameful that a presidential candidate of a major opposition party in Africa’s most populous country would visit America, and the international press was kept in the dark: There was NO SINGLE press conference with the array of international media and correspondents required for such ‘high-profile’ visit. Atiku knows he has no moral stamina to withstand the avalanche of hard questions bordering on his sordid past in America. In fact, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claims he visited the Voice of America (VOA) but only did two carefully-packaged interviews with the Hausa service and the English to Africa program - platforms that have always been available to him back home. How strange! In fact, both the Twitter handle (@VOANews) and official website of VOA did not mention any such visit of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to their station. For news hounds, you would agree with us that such an ‘important personality’ cannot walk into a news premises without reporters swooping on him. Whatever he went to do in the premises of the VOA must have been a carefully-arranged private visit for the photo-ops, which was intended to scam Nigerians. What more evidence do we need of a “sneak-in-sneak-out” arrangement than this?”
Targeting in particular the ‘Get Nigeria Working Again’ mantra of the PDP, APC berated Atiku on various claims, including that of meeting US government officials. According to Keyamo, Atiku only met with someone who is the equivalent of a House of Representatives member, noting that the visit has done nothing but to “expose him for the questionable character he is”.
The statement continued: “For a candidate who claims he wants to ‘get Nigeria working again’ (a meaningless phrase) to sneak into America without meeting major players in private businesses is a curiosity and an indication that we are dealing with a candidate with a dodgy and questionable character. He claims he went to the US Chamber of Commerce, which is supposed to be a business federation. Again, the Twitter handle (@USChamber) and the website of the organization make no mention of the visit of such an ‘important personality’ to them. Maybe their famous American lobbyist on a salary of N9million per month can help them ‘do something’ about this after this press statement.
“It is also an anomaly that the candidate of the major opposition party in Nigeria sneaked into America and did not meet large sections of political leaders of similar ideologies and persuasions towards which he claims to be inclined. For all his claim to be going to America to meet ‘US Government officials’, he only succeeded in meeting a certain ‘Congressman Smith’, who is the equivalent of a member of the House of Representatives in Nigeria. You would agree with us that as dignified and respected as the office of a Member of the House of Representatives is, an important personality cannot come to Nigeria on an official visit and claim he has met the ‘Nigerian government officials’ after he pays a private visit to that Member. For all we know, the Congressman Smith may just be a private friend of Dr. Bukola Saraki or Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. That reminds us of Atiku’s famous legislator friend he threw under the bus, Williams Jefferson, who taught us how to hide laundered money (which was meant for Atiku Abubakar) in the deep freezer when the cops came knocking on his door!
“In all, it is very obvious now that the so-called American trip was a desperate trip for photo-ops. Throughout the trip, Atiku Abubakar looked cagey, frightened and on edge. We note the close support always provided by Senate President Bukola Saraki like a comforting guardian angel. The visit and arrangements smack of things local yahoo yahoo boys do to scam their victims. It is utterly disgusting and puerile that it has been brought into a serious political contest.
“Rather than being the highpoint of his campaign, the American visit is indeed the lowest watermark of Atiku Abubakar’s campaign. It was a political and P.R disaster. The statements he released from there only to the Nigerian Press back home that he intends to alienate other countries and do business with the U.S is actually the antithesis to our policy of non-alignment.
“For the information of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his handlers, Nigerians know that Nigeria is already working again for everyone and not for a few. As confirmed by him in a town-hall meeting a few days before his disastrous trip to the U.S, he said he wants to “get Nigeria working again” only for few of his friends who he claims he wants to make rich. If he cannot get them rich now from his private businesses, it is obvious that he is referring to the use of public funds to make his friends rich. Nigerians should judge for themselves whether this is the type of President they want.
“Finally, whoever advised Atiku Abubakar to undertake that trip to America just destroyed his entire campaign and exposed him for who he is – a questionable character who has continued to leave huge questions over his suitability for the highest office of the land and as such cannot be trusted by the Nigerian people.”

Sports / In An Awesome Performance Faulkner Drowns Scorchers by crischiano: 11:54 pm On 1 Jan 2019
James Faulkner played a starring role at the beginning and end of the contest as Big Bash League leaders Hobart Hurricanes edged out Perth Scorchers in an absorbing contest on Friday .
Faulkner humiliated the Scorchers to 7- 3 with a trio of wickets in his first seven deliveries , yet Perth still managed to post a healthy total of 177- 9 – thanks largely to Sam Whiteman ’s superb 44 -ball 68 and excellent cameos from Andrew Tye ( 25 off 12 ) and Nathan Coulter- Nile ( 31 not out off 15 ) .
Before Faulkner ’s fantastic finish , which saw the all - rounder hit two sixes either side of a four that almost cleared the rope at deep midwicket , George Bailey had kept the Hurricanes in the hunt by striking 69 from 39 balls.

Weird News / World’s Oldest Man Nonaka Dies In Japan by crischiano: 11:31 pm On 1 Jan 2019
“World’s oldest man” Masazo Nonaka, who was born just two years after the Wright brothers launched humanity’s first powered flight, died on Sunday aged 113, Japanese media said.
Nonaka was born in July 1905, according to Guinness World Records — just months before Albert Einstein published his special theory of relativity.
Guinness officially recognised Nonaka as the oldest living man after the death of Spaniard Francisco Nunez Olivera last year.
“We feel shocked at the loss of this big figure. He was as usual yesterday and passed away without causing our family any fuss at all,” his granddaughter Yuko told Kyodo News.
Nonaka had six brothers and one sister, marrying in 1931 and fathering five children.
He ran a hot spring inn in his hometown and in retirement enjoyed watching sumo wrestling on TV and eating sweets, according to local media.
Japan has one of the world’s highest life expectancies and was home to several people recognised as among the oldest humans to have ever lived.
They include Jiroemon Kimura, the longest-living man on record, who died soon after his 116th birthday in June 2013.
The oldest verified person ever — Jeanne Louise Calment of France — died in 1997 at the age of 122, according to Guinness.

World Politics / Presidential Debate: Ezekwesili, Moghalu, Durotoye Angry With Buhari, Atiku by crischiano: 11:25 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The three presidential candidates of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Alliance for New Democracy (ANN), and Young Progressives Party (YPP) who participated in the presidential debate held at Transcorp Hilton hotel have condemned the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the debate.
Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate came to the venue along with some of his supporters but left after he discovered the absence of President Buhari.
Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili of ACPN, Mr. Fela Durtotoye of ANN, and Mr. Kingsley Moghalu of YPP, who were at the presidential debate expressed disgust over the refusal of the main candidates to honour the debate.
They said the absence of Buhari and Atiku indicated that they and their parties have no regard for Nigerians and lacked the answers to critical questions.
Ezekwesili said: “I’m not surprised they are not here. They have just simply announced their exit from the governance of our country.
“I think it is important for us to acknowledge that there is a political class that needs to fade away from our country because the idea that the will of the people will be subordinated to the whims and caprices of our politicians should be a total anomaly.
“Today, as we in this country focus on the ideas that will develop our country if the two dominant parties cared about the Nigerian people, they would come here in order to have a contest of ideas on how we would fix Nigeria.
“I must let you know that for the Nigerian people, this is a moment to make a clear judgment as to whether we are connected to the issues that matter to the Nigerian people.
“We showed up for this debate not because we are new entrants into politics but because we believe it is time for a new kind of governance in Nigeria.”
Moghalu said that the absence of the heavyweights was a display of arrogance.
“I am not at all surprised that the leaders of the APC and the PDP have decided to turn their back on the people of Nigeria and tell them finally, they never amounted to much in their eyes.
“The reason why they are not here: one is arrogance. They believe the people of Nigeria have no voice and no choice. They believe that you cannot move away from them.
“They believe they have trapped you, they have kept you in bondage for over too long and it is now time for us to send them a message. The second reason why they are not here is because they cannot answer the questions. Very simple, very straight-forward. They belong to the old class of recycled politicians who want to come to power with a sense of entitlement.”
Durotoye stressed that both Buhari and Atiku have set themselves up for a fall.
“Well, it seems that the future is here. Pride always comes before a fall and every time you believe that there is no need to tell the people the things you are going to do, it means you are not there to serve them in the first place; you are going to rule over them.’’
On his reason for walking away from the venue, Atiku said: ”We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar cannot challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies.
@atiku
We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar cannot challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies. #2019Debate
He tendered an apology to the other candidates and the nation.
“With respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu & to moderator Mark Sugar & with apologies to Nigerians here & at home expecting an interesting debate.
“I regret I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari’s absence.’’
He had earlier challenged Buhari to pick a date and time for a debate.
“I however challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well. Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’
The shunning of the really hurt the other candidates who were present and they expressed their disappointment.
The debate was organised by Nigeria Elections Debate Group and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria at the Trans-corp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
a statement issued by Mr. Festus Keyamo, Director of Strategic Communications of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, on Saturday evening noted that Buhari had already attended an earlier debate on January 16, 2018.
Buhari and his Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, had attended an event tagged ‘The Candidates’, a presidential town hall co-production between Daria Media and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), supported by the MacArthur Foundation.
The organisation also said Buhari could not attend the debate because of the “busy and hectic official and campaign schedules” he has been participating in.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who is also the APC Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming Presidential Election, President Muhammadu Buhari, could not attend the Presidential Debate organised by the Nigeria Election Debate Group and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria which held today, Saturday, January 19, 2019 for the following reasons:
“Firstly, out of several opportunities afforded our candidate to interact with the Nigerian people directly by different organisations, our presidential candidate has taken full advantage of another town-hall meeting organized by another group which held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was also joined at that town-hall meeting by our Vice-Presidential candidate who is also the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN. Nigerians from all walks of life who were physically present and through on-line platforms asked uncensored questions which were adequately answered. It was also transmitted live by various broadcast networks in Nigeria.
“In addition, the busy and hectic official and campaign schedules of Mr. President clashed with this programme. Today, Mr. President commissioned the Baro Inland Water Port in Niger State and campaigned in Niger and Plateau States where his time was over-stretched by the tumultuous and mammoth crowds in both States, (as seen by Nigerians on live television) and only returned to Abuja late this evening.”
APC also berated Atiku for appearing at the venue and refusing to participate in the debate.
Keyamo said: “Lastly, we note the statement of the candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who actually came for the event and left the venue when he did not see Mr. President, who is our candidate. According to him, he would not want to ‘attack’ Mr. President in his absence.
“It should now be obvious to Nigerians that for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, this election is all about attacking the person and programmes of Mr. President and not about proffering their own solutions to the problems they created during their sixteen years of misrule, maladministration and looting of the nation’s resources. When they cannot see President Buhari to attack, the content of their campaign becomes hollow, empty and ‘full of sound and fury, signifying nothing’. Now that Atiku Abubakar had a unique opportunity to explain to Nigerians his own vision and mission without a President Buhari in the picture, he ran away. Afterall, he has his own eight years of crass and grand corruption as Vice President to defend before the Nigerian people.
“On February 16, 2019, we urge Nigerians to demonstrate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, through their votes, how empty indeed their campaign has always been and to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN who have started the rebuilding process of our great nation,” he said.

Business/Investments / Loan Palaver: Court Enters $16.4m Judgment Against Stella Oduah by crischiano: 11:19 pm On 1 Jan 2019
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos south west Nigeria has entered judgement in favour of Sterling Bank Plc jointly and severally against the former aviation minister Senator Stella Oduah and her company Sea Petroleum and Gas Limited in the sum of $16,412,819.06 and N100,493,225.59 respectively.
The sum being the outstanding debt owed by the Sea Petroleum and Gas Company and duly guaranteed by Senator Stella Oduah as at November 2016 to the bank with accrued interest.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Ayotunde Faji in his judgment while granting six reliefs out of the 14 sought by the bank, issued order of attachment in favour of the bank against such entire assets of Sea Petroleum and Gas company, cash in bank, bond, deposit, real estate, stocks, all forms of negotiable instruments in all stock broking firms, discount houses, mortgage institutions, financial houses, microfinance houses, and all licensed banks within Nigeria having Sea Petroleum as beneficial owner funds to the full extent of the unsatisfied portion of the sum of $16,,412,819.06 and N100,493,225.59 respectively as at November 2016 and other accrued interest.
The court also declared that having regard to the clear and unambiguous provisions of the deed of guarantee and indemnity personally executed by Senator Stella Oduah in favour of Sterling Bank over facility advanced to the Sea Petroleum and Gas company Limited who has failed upon demands to liquidate same, judgment can be granted against Senator Stella Oduah for the unsatisfied portion of the sum owed by Sea Petroleum and Gas company to the bank.
The judgment of the court was sequel to a debt recovery suit filed before the court by a Lagos lawyer Barrister Oluwakemi Balogun SAN on behalf of Sterling bank Plc.
In an affidavit sworn to by business manager, Maritime of Sterling bank Plc Mr Segun Akinsanya, with 34 exhibits attached filed and argued before the court by Mr Balogun (SAN), Mr Akinsanya in the said affidavit averred that on October 8, 2012, the bank granted a lease/cabotage vessel finance facility to Sea Petroleum and Gas Company in the sum of $10,069,620.25 to finance one unit 5,000 MT tanker vessel.
The loan was secured by unconditional personal guarantee of the company director, Princess Stella Oduah supported by statement of her net worth, legal mortgage of two properties worth N135 million, power of Attorneys of the tanker vessel in favour of Sterling Bank and fully executed irrevocable standing payment order and tripatite remmitance agreement between First Bank Plc, Sterling Bank and Stella Oduah.
It was further averred that between June 27, 2013 Sea petroleum Company requested for and was granted additional facilities in the sum of $449,600.00 for post delivery expenses, $642,954.00 and $350,000 to meet the requisite conditions in securing the release of the tanker.
Upon the persistent failure of the defendants to liquidate their indebtedness Sterling Bank instructed the law firm of Oluwakemi Balogun to recover the debt.
Despite several reminders, demands, pleas and persuasions emanating from the bank and its solicitor, the defendants failed and refused to liquidate their indebtedness which has culminated in the sum of $16,412,819.06 and N100,493,225.59 as at November 2016.
Consequently, the bank urged the court to enter judgment in its favour as per its claim.
However, in her counter affidavit, Senator Stella Oduah, contended that, the vessel purchased with the loan facility was registered in the name of Sterling Bank until the defendant discharges the facility.
The bank was to appoint technical managers for the vessel to ensure it is in good condition. The managers appointed by the bank mismanaged the vessel resulting in several losses to the defendants. The bank ignored all pleas for the managers to be changed. The company Sea Petroleum and Gas limited could therefore not meet up with its financial obligations.
The non payment of the loan was thus occasioned by the bank’s inaction and it would be unjust to impose on the company the liability occasioned by the bank’s inaction. The bank still retained the vessel since ownership was in the bank. The bank would have expected to sell the vessel but failed to do so in spite of the company’s consent to the sale. The bank is not also seeking a sale of the vessel in this suit.
Consequently the impossibility of performance is a defence to claim for specific performance. Where a plaintiff defaults in his obligation under an agreement he cannot succeed in an action for specific performance.
The court was then urged to refuse the claim of the bank. The bank was expected to sell the properties pledged, title documents which are in the bank’s custody. It is only after then that it will be clear who is indebted to who. Thereafter the company’s liability can be determined and Senator Stella Oduah’s liability arise.
In his judgement, Justice Faji said, “The defendant by letter dated 6/2/15 acknowledged it’s indebtedness. This is part of Plaintiff’s case to show that the debt is not disputed. The defendant did not comply with the repayment under the various facilities. The Sea Petroleum and Gas Limited statement of account for the period 1/9/12 to 24/11/16 shows a debt balance of $16,412,819.06 and Naira debit balance of N100,493225.59.
As regards Sea Petroleum therefore, it is clear that the company was all material times indebted to Sterling Bank, Stella Oduah guaranteed the indebtedness and issue a guarantee and indemnity. The bank was to have a lien upon the immediate right of set-off against Stella Oduah whether on any current, deposit, domiciliary, or other accounts and assets.

Health / It Hurts How Fake Drugs Kill Innocent Citizens- Ex-psn President by crischiano: 07:20 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The immediate past President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Friday unveiled safe medicine foundation (SFM) to sustain the fight against fake and falsified drugs in the country.
“It really hurts to see fake or substandard and falsified products circulating in our country maiming innocent citizens”, he declared during a send forth dinner organized for him by friends and associates in Lagos.

The solemn ceremony also featured the launch of Yakasai’s book, “The Power of Advocacy” which chronicled his achievements in office as PSN President from 2015-2018.
Daily Trust reports that as the President of the professional body, he undertook various initiatives aimed at creating awareness about the prevalence of drug abuse especially among youths.

He therefore set up the foundation alongside Dr. (Pharm) Ifeanyi Okechukwu and Dr. Chimezie Anyakora as a “go-to resource that can help consumers, healthcare professionals, law enforcement agencies, policy makers and the government navigate the increasing complex and dangerous world of substandard and falsified medicines”.
Yakasai explained that the foundation would, among others raise public awareness of the harms to consumer safety caused by substandard and falsified fake medicines and advocate for policies and programmes that will improve patient safety.
He said, “So together, let’s make a positive impact and rescue our people and it can be you or me as a victim. Improving safe access to essential medicines is crucial in tackling ill-health and reducing infant and maternal mortality rate, which, sadly is very high in our country.
“As we all know, essential medicines save lives and improve health when they are available, affordable, of assured quality and properly used. Hence, our citizens around the nooks and crannies of Nigeria deserve access to safe, standard, efficacious and cost-effective medicines”.
Chairman of the event and Managing Director/CEO of Fidson Healthcare PLC, Dr. Fidelis Ayebae hailed the initiative which he said would be supported by all pharmaceutical stakeholders.
Former PSN President, Pharm. Olumide Akintayo warned against self-medication especially in Nigeria where people have unlimited access to medicines.
“This is a country where we have well over two, three million premises where people sell medicines and probably less than 30,000 out-patient medicine stores”, he said.

World Politics / Fg Supports Abia Farmers To Harvest, Transport N162m Maize by crischiano: 11:26 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Three hundred and eighty seven maize farmers belonging to the Kelechik Out-growers Scheme in Lokpa Nta and Umunneochi Local Government Areas of Abia State have enjoyed the support of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) in various areas like harvesting, handling, storage, processing, transportation and off-take.
The support, embedded in the Anchor Borrowers Programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which NIRSAL is a Participating Financial Institution (PFI), led to the harvest and transportation of 1,354 tonnes of maize valued at N162,480,000.
The management, in a statement said an initial 21 hectares of land belonging to 21 smallholder farmers was cultivated, while arrangements have been concluded for the outstanding 366 farmers to participate in the 2019 wet season farming.
“With the end-to-end use of mechanisation starting from the pre-planting phase, the maize crops were harvested, dehusked, threshed, weighed and transported to a produce drop point for storage and eventual delivery.
“Under the NIRSAL model, smallholder farmers are closely supported throughout the production phase up till the point of off-take. As part of efforts to ensure optimum yield, farmers are trained on Best Agronomic Practices and Farm Management to prepare them for the transition from smallholder farming to Agribusiness.
Farmers under the scheme expressed their delight and appreciation to NIRSAL for building their capacity, empowering them and improving their yields, incomes and livelihoods through the project.
In addition to the Abia State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), the exercise was supervised by Field Officers of NIRSAL’s Project Monitoring, Reporting and Remediation Office (PMRO)- an innovative field structure deployed by NIRSAL to de-risk Agricultural projects.
The PMRO comprises Agricultural experts knowledgeable in modern Agricultural business practices in each state of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory.
The mandate of the PMRO structure is to closely monitor NIRSAL-supported projects, provide technical assistance to producers, smallholder farmers, and other stakeholders in the Agricultural Value Chains. The PMRO also serves as a Business Development Unit tasked with identifying viable Agricultural projects that can attract finance.

World Politics / Let’s Recover Imo, Araraume Urges Imolites by crischiano: 12:30 pm On 1 Jan 2019
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has called for the support of Imo people towards “recovering the state from its pitiable socio-political and economic condition.”
Araraume made the appeal last Friday, when he formally kicked off his campaign, in Owerri, the state capital.
In a press statement issued yesterday by the Media and Strategic Communication Unit of hiscampaign orgnanisation, Araraume said his desire to join the race was informed by his strong commitment to right the wrongs of the present state government, in the general interest of the state.
He said he is not contesting the governorship seat to acquire property, take people’s land or amass dubious wealth because God had blessed him and his family with everything they need in life.
“For me, the most challenging aspect is to get our people back. There is high distrust among the people and against the state government. Our people are like a conquered people. The task is to bring them back to the level they were before and restore their confidence.
“In the issue of governance, the starting point is to create policies that will give the people hope. If you look at Imo critically, for instance, the education sector, you will find that nothing is working. The education sector has collapsed. From the primary education level up to the tertiary level, our education has collapsed.
“We need to get back and rebuild confidence. We need to train and retrain the teachers, boost their morale and pay them living wages. What is happening now is that when you go to our schools, you find that our teachers have become traders,’’ Araraume said.
On the dilapidation of infrastructure in the state, the two-time senator said the issues will be addressed aggressively in order to attract both foreign and local business investors, saying Imo State is strategically located for huge investments.
“We need to tackle these and address them immediately. Look at our local government system. It is dead.
“Presently, no local government in Imo State gets their allocation. So, you need to work on that; reassure the people and rebuild their confidence; make sure each local government gets what is due to it and also work with it.
“I’ll ensure each local government chairman resides within the local government.”

World Politics / Judge Apc By Achievements, Buhari Tells Nigerians At Kogi Campaign by crischiano: 12:16 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Kogi State was thrown into a hub of celebration, yesterday, when the All Progressive Congress presidential campaign team landed in Lokoja, the state capital.
President Muhammad Buhari, who landed in an helicopter at about 1.05pm, at the Lokoja Township Stadium was received by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The president and his entourage, including top APC chieftains, landed at the 25,000 capacity confluence stadium at about 2.15pm where they were welcomed by a tumultuous crowd.
The ecstatic president, who was overwhelmed by the large crowd, walked round the stadium to acknowledge cheers from his supporters
Thereafter, in his address, Buhari enjoined Nigerians to judge his administration by what they have been able to achieve with the resources at their disposal and compare it with the huge resources at the disposal of the PDP which, he said, had done little.
Buhari, who said his administration has done so well to be given a second chance, promised to continue to fight corruption and create more jobs if re-elected.
The president expressed happiness about the lmammoth crowd and called on the people never to vote any opposition party in the next general election.
In his speech, APC National chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said in the election, voters should choose between light and darkness, truth and falsehood, integrity and corruption.
Oshiomhole said by what he has seen at the rally, he now believes that Kogi state is for the APC and stressed that the notice for the rally was given to the state governor in less than 48 hours yet, “the stadium was filled to the brim.”
On his part, Governor Yahaya Bello promised that every polling unit in the state would be delivered to the APC, from the House of Assembly election, to the presidential and National Assembly elections.
He, then, urged the people to troop out in their large numbers and vote for the APC in the general election.
