Religion / What Await Your Plans? by Truevine: 01:46 pm On 3 Mar 2019
A pretty woman was serving life sentence in prison. Angry and resentful
about her situation, she had decided that she would rather die than to live another
year in prison.
Over the years she had become good friends with one of the prison caretakers. His job, among others, was to bury those prisoners who died in a graveyard just outside the prison walls.
When a prisoner died, the caretaker rang a bell, which was heard by everyone. The caretaker then got the body and put it in a casket. Next, he entered his office to fill out the death certificate before returning to the casket to nail the lid shut. Finally, he put the casket on a wagon to take it to the graveyard and buryit.
Knowing this routine, the woman devised an escape plan and shared it with the caretaker. The next time the bell rang, the woman would leave her cell and sneak into the dark room where the coffins were kept. She would slip into the coffin with the dead body while the caretaker was filling out the death certificate..
When the care-taker returned, he would nail the lid shut and take the coffin outside the prison with the woman in the coffin along with the dead body. He would then bury the coffin. The woman knew there would be enough air for her to breathe until later in the evening when the caretaker would return to the graveyard under the cover of darkness, dig up the coffin, open it, and set her free.
The caretaker was reluctant to go along with this plan, but since he and the woman had become good friends over the years, he agreed to do it.
The woman waited several weeks before someone in the prison died. She was asleep in her cell when she heard the death bell ring.
She got up and slowly walked down the hallway. She was nearly caught a couple of times. Her heart was beating fast. She opened the door to the darkened room where the coffins were kept. Quietly in the dark, she found the coffin that contained the dead body, carefully climbed into the coffin and pulled the lid shut to wait for the caretaker to come and nail the lid shut.
Soon she heard footsteps and the pounding of the hammer and nails.
Even though she was very uncomfortable in the coffin with the dead body, she knew that with each nail she was one step closer to freedom.
The coffin was lifted onto the wagon and taken outside to the graveyard. She could feel the coffin being lowered into the ground. She didn't make a sound as the coffin hit the bottom of the grave with a thud.
Finally she heard the dirt dropping onto the top of the wooden coffin, and she knew that it was only a matter of time until she would be free at last.
After several minutes of absolute silence, she began to laugh. She was free! She was free! Feeling curious, she decided to light a match to find out the identity of the dead prisoner beside her.
To her horror, she discovered that she was lying next to the dead caretaker...
Many people believe they have life all figured out...... but sometimes it just doesn't turn out the way they planned it.

World Politics / Lagos Elections: Jimi Agbaje Dumps Pdp by Truevine: 01:29 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 general election, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has dumped the party.
In a statement,, Agbaje, who lost the gubernatorial contest to Mr. Babajide Sanwo–Olu of All Progressives Congress, APC, said he is leaving the party over an unresolved disagreement between him and the leadership of the party in the state.
Agbaje said it is necessary for him to leave this party following series of allegations leveled against him after PDP lost the governorship election.
“I have tried to remain focused and ignored all the distractions coming from the leadership of the party. I am making the decision after due consultation with my supporters and loved ones for the sake of peace.
But he did not indicate his next line of action.
It will be recalled that a former Chairman of PDP in Lagos State, Chief Tunji Shelle, has blamed the party’s loss of the governorship election to failure of Jimi Agbaje to work with other members of the party.
“We have a situation where somebody said he could work and achieve victory alone. Meanwhile, he doesn’t know anything.
“Rather than show cooperation, he was arguing and fighting people who could help him. Even when things were going bad and help was to be rendered, he said he doesn’t need help.
“Well-meaning people intervened to rally everybody together in Lagos. They called us to a meeting and asked us to help him but he refused, saying he doesn’t need help. He became a lone ranger and stand-alone person.
“Even when we were trying to reinforce his campaign team, he told us point blank that he couldn’t work with people he can’t control. He wants to be a master of all and subject everybody in the party under his control which is not possible. You can’t control everybody because PDP is not your private party.
“So, we decided to leave him to go and do the job alone and at the end of the day, that is the result we got in Lagos. That is the major reason why PDP failed in Lagos.
“If not for the sympathy votes we got from people who are tired of APC and felt there is a need for leadership change in Lagos state, we could have gotten lesser votes in the governorship election. To be frank, our governorship candidate was our problem in Lagos state.
“He defeated the party and defeated himself. The most unfortunate thing is that he doesn’t feel the pain of what he has caused. Also, there was mismanagement of resources too because everybody left him to his fate to do whatever pleases him,” Shelle was quoted as saying.

Business/Investments / Middlemen Are Agents Of Food Insecurity – Farmers by Truevine: 09:43 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Farmers across the country have called on government to curb the activities of middlemen, describing them as agents of food insecurity, exploitative and parasites.
The farmers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday that there were enough evidences to prove that the middle men exploited them and eroded their profits, which hampers government efforts for agricultural development.
The farmers called for quick intervention of government to get relief from middlemen, describing the middlemen as the menace that continued to deprive the farmers of their dividend in spite of numerous efforts to make ends meet.
They observed that their vulnerability to middleman was due to several factors, which include distance from market, high cost of transportation and lack of credit.
Others are lack of insurance and storage facilities, which they claimed compelled farmers to respond to the dictates of the middlemen to make immediate sale at below the cost price.
Mallam Alli Kano, a rice farmer in Kura, Kano State, noted that government and other concerned agencies needed to act fast because the activities of middlemen were chasing many farmers away from farms.
He said that the assertion of middlemen on the farmers to dictate and raise prices for consumers usually led to high production costs in their efforts to boost production but hardly got fair pricing of their products from the middlemen.
Kano said that the real profit went to the middlemen who bought up the farm products at almost give-away prices and sold at outrageous prices to the consumers.
“This attitude of middlemen have discouraged genuine investors from getting into agriculture because of the marginal profit associated with it the business as cart away the bulk of the profits.
“Thus, the activities of middlemen seem to be a threat to food security as their activities in all areas where they operate are indications that they stand in the way of food security, progress in farming and self-sufficiency.
“Globally middlemen stand in the way of food security and poverty alleviation but government must take a drastic measure to fight them,’’ he said.
Mallam Suraji Illiyasu, a cotton farmer in Gombe said that the activities of the middlemen were one of the contributing factors to cotton rejection in the international markets.
He said that to get rid of the illegal activities could take awhile because most of the farmers were illiterate, but with the advent of educated youth farmers and technological innovations, the youth farmers would change the status and would soon render them inactive.
Illiyasu said that government should take a stringent measure to curb their activities and make effort to reintroduce the commodity boards as a way to bring the producer closer to the end buyer and make farmers get adequate dividend for their efforts.
He said that the middlemen were also the fundamental cause of food inflation because they usually hoard both perishable and non-perishable commodities, thereby creating artificial shortages across all food categories to dictate the prices of such commodities later.
“Most of them always dictate the price of food items thereby chasing away credible customers and also they usually intentionally created artificial scarcity.’’
Mrs Theresa Agbowuro, a Cassava farmer in Aisegba Ekiti, described the middlemen as opportunists that usually reaped where they did not sow and reaped the benefits by rising food prices.
She called on the three tiers of government to take immediate action to curb the activities of the middlemen, saying that most of the farmers who ignored the middlemen always ran into problem and lost their produce.
Agbowuro said in most cases, a lot of the affected farmers always paid dearly for their actions as they always found it very difficult to sell their produce.
Mallam Awalu Kabai, a farmer in Auta-Balefi, Nassarawa state said that middlemen had intercepted most of the Federal Government’s agricultural schemes making it unattractive to the beneficiaries.
He said that the activities of some of the middlemen were militating against some of government’s schemes such as FADAMA, CBN/Anchor Borrowers Programme and Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk-Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) and they also cut across all agricultural sectors.
Kabai said that in the areas of government schemes most of these middlemen posed as political farmers or cooperative heads with the intent to defraud the farmers.
“NIRSAL sometime ago confirmed that it has information that some “aggregators” have fraudulently collected monies from farmers promising to deliver loan facilities through the CBN/ABP and other NIRSAL funding windows.
“In most cases, the activities of the middlemen and farmers usually lead to crisis leading to untold losses and hardship on the farmers,’’ he said.
Kabai said that if government did not go into action on time to check the activities of fraudulent middlemen in the agric loan sector, it could crumble the good intention of government.
“Because their huge demand is frustrating some of the peasant farmers to abandon the projects,’’ he said.
Mrs Bisi Adeshida, a farmer in Ogbese, Ondo State said that the middlemen were in all areas of agriculture, “be it the financial sector, government schemes for agriculture and commodity venues, they have invaded both the yam, rice, ram, poultry and palm oil sector of agriculture.’’
She said that because government at all levels had allowed them free hand to operate and even hijacked most of their programmes, they thrived because they always encountered less resistance.
Adeshida said that during the festive time, “it is the middlemen that always dictate the prices of domestic animals for sale and any of the traders that flaunted the law will pay for it.’’
Mr Pious Akinlade, a FADAMA beneficiary in Kogi state said that to create a competitive market, government must intervene and curb the activities of the middlemen.
“Something urgent must be done; farmers cannot be labouring for middlemen to reap the gains.
“There are times when they invade the markets and their wishes become law and any farmers that flaunted the law will be made to lose his/her produce.’’
He said that lack of many socio amenities was also encouraging the activities of middlemen.
Akinlade said that because of the high cost, transport and bad roads, farmers were always forced to sell their produce at the farm gate to middlemen who acted as commissioners on behalf of wholesalers.
Mrs Veronica Ezumezu, a trader in Masaka market noted that the middleman had made the cost of food beyond the reach of the peasant traders and the common man.
She said that before, the small traders used to negotiate the price of produce freely with the farmers at the farm gate but now such traders must negotiate with the middlemen.
“Staple crops like maize, millet, cassava, beans, yam, cassava, plantain and vegetables are very cheap right from the farm but once the middlemen are involved, they will introduced various taxes or buy the produce at the farm gate, forcing the traders to buy from them.
“In the end, such will lead to increase in the price of food stuffs and vegetables in the markets,” she said.
Ezumezu lamented that the middleman had turned themselves to tyranny at farm gates in most markets on all produce and in the end they paid peanuts to farmers.
He lamented that compensation was not enough to meet other basic needs as farmers continued to wallow in poverty, while some would struggle to repay their loans because of the middlemen phenomena.
Mr Sanjo Fasunla, an agricultural expert described the middlemen as an impediment to farmers and the renewed determination by government to empower agriculturists for improved productivity and attainment of food security in the country.
He said that the middlemen had become monopoly buyers of agricultural produce to the deteriment of the farmers.
Fasunla said that government and relevant agencies needed to act fast because the activities of the middlemen were discouraging the investors.
“This is having a terrible implication in the supply value chain of agricultural products.’’

World Politics / Nigerian Army Express Annoyance With Inec, Police On Rivers Elections by Truevine: 09:40 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army (NA) have observed with dismay and sense of betrayal in the statement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) signed by its National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Festus Okoye Esq on 15 March 2019. The statement according to INEC was the findings of its Fact-Finding Committee that assessed the situation in Rivers State.
It is, however, pertinent to note that, representatives of the 6 Division met with the Fact-Finding Committee on Tuesday 12 March 2019 at the INEC Headquarters in Port Harcourt and had honest discussions and made a written submission to aid the Committee in its task. Regrettably, none of the Division’s input form any of the findings of INEC as made public. This clearly indicates a lack of trust by an institution that the NA sacrifices so much to assist in the course of performing their role.
The genesis of the suspension of Governorship/State House of Assembly elections process in Rivers State
What INEC failed to mention or even consider is the fact that at about 10:30 pm on Saturday 9th March 2019, troops of 6 Division NA detailed at the outer perimeter of Obio/Akpor Local Government Headquarters Collation Center were brazenly attacked by Governor Wike’s security aides and armed thugs who stormed the collation center with the Governor in a convoy of more than 50 vehicles while collation of results was going on. In the ensuing melee, Captain Adams Salami was shot at close range by the security aides of Governor Wike while Corporal Adeosun Adebayo was matched by Governor Wike’s thugs. Both victims are currently receiving treatment at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Intensive Care Unit and Military Hospital Port Harcourt respectively with life-threatening injuries. Thereafter, election materials were carted away and electoral officials abducted by the Governor’s thugs to an unknown destination. This was made known to the INEC Fact-Finding Committee but INEC does not see it worth condemning or mention in its report.
Consequently, after due consultations and considerations between 6 Division and the Rivers State Police Command on Sunday the 10th of March 2019, the Rivers State Police Command, on their own, – took the initiative to invite the media to the hospitals where the 2 victims are receiving treatment and thereafter to host a press conference on the matter with the view to dissociate itself from the unprofessional conduct exhibited by their men attached to Wike and tell the public what disciplinary action the command will take or is already taking. However, while the visit to the victims was accomplished and the 2 victims interviewed by the media, the press conference was aborted by the Police after journalists have been assembled.
Coincidentally, a rescheduled
press conference on the matter was also aborted on Thursday the 14th of March 2019. Most disheartening is that while the Rivers State Police Command accepts the involvement of their personnel in the attack at Obio/Akpor LG Headquarters, till date that personnel have not at least been reprimanded.
To this end, – in the circumstance, – the 6 Division NA as a stakeholder in the 2019 General Elections takes exception to the lopsided and therefore unfair INEC report and is hereby strongly and totally rejected by the NA.
The Division is equally disappointed with the attitude exhibited by the Nigerian Police in this regard and hereby request the police leadership to commence full scale investigation of those security aides to Governor Wike that attacked troops at the Obio/Akpor LG Headquarters Collation Center and shot at Capt AA Salami with a view to appropriately sanction those found responsible/culpable. Until that is done, Headquarters 6 Division NA will have to review all existing joint activities with the Rivers State Police Command.

World Politics / Why I Will Not Comment On The Outcome Of 2019 Presidential Election - Obasanjo by Truevine: 09:08 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has explained why he would not comment on the outcome of the February 23 presidential election, adding that speaking about the election would be ”subjudice.”
According to Premium Times, Obasanjo said this on Tuesday, March 19, at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre Abuja, at the launch of a book written by Abdullahi Shehu, titled ”Election in Nigeria: The Long Road To Democracy.”
Other dignitaries at the event include a former head of state, Yakubu Gowon; human right activist, Femi Falana; a former deputy president of the Senate, Ibrahim Mantu; Chido Onumah, author of ‘We Are All Biafrans”, among many others.
Speaking further about why he has not spoken about the outcome of the election, Obasanjo said:
"I will not dabble into the details of what I call current aspect of Prof Shehu’s book because since the emphasis was on the national election, particularly the presidential election, and the presidential election is now taken to court.
"I think talking about it would become subjudicive, because it has been taken to court."
The former president, however, reviewed Shehu’s book, commenting about it's main theme.
His words: "The book discusses the election and electoral processes in Nigeria including why there must be a free fair transparent and credible election as predictive autumn of the country.
”It reviews the main factors that led to the defeat of the PDP in 2015, and how the APC mismanaged the victory. The main thrust of the book is a comparative analysis of the APC Next Level and the PDP ” Let’s Get Nigeria Working Again.
”In the introduction in which election is the bedrock of a democratic government, all modern democracy and old elections, not all elections are truly democratic. The measure of a democratic election is that it is transparent fair, credible and acceptable
”The problem is who determines these outcomes in the election? And that is where the concerns about a sustainable democracy arises and sustainable democracy, if an election is fundamental and basic to democracy and good governance.”

World Politics / Breaking: Atiku Files 5-ground Petition Against President Buhari, Brings Up Certificate Saga by Truevine: 09:05 pm On 3 Mar 2019
One of the allegations against President Buhari by Atiku is the claim that he did not possess the minimum academic requirement of the constitution to run for office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, the president and the All Progressives Congress where named as first, second and third respondents respectively.
.Livy Uzoukwu leads the 21 Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 18 other lawyers in the petition.
The five grounds of appeal, read: “The 2nd respondent (Buhari) was not duly elected by majority of lawful votes cast at the election.
“The election of the 2nd respondent is invalid by reason of corrupt practices.
“The election of the 2nd Respondent is invalid by reason of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).
“The 2nd respondent was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the said election.
“The 2nd respondent submitted to the 1st Respondent an affidavit containing false information of a fundamental nature in aid of his qualification for the said election.”
Meanwhile, The former US ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell described the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria as bad news for democracy.
In his perspective for the election for the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC, Campbell claimed the election was “marred by historically low turnout and credible allegations of rigging”.
The former ambassador also said Atiku was not likely to win at the tribunal court due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s margin of victory.
He said based on reports from situation rooms, the election was a step back from the 2015 own.

World Politics / I’m Still Loyal To Atiku — Gbenga Daniel by Truevine: 08:44 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Gbenga Daniel has reiterated his exit from partisan politics.
The former Ogun State governor has come under ridicule amongst opposition figures, amidst allegations of betrayal after announcing a sudden retirement from politics only to start consultation with the All Progressives Congress.
Mr Daniel, a top strategist for Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, recently wrote a letter to Uche Secondus, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, announcing his urgent retirement from politics.
He cited no political reason for his move, which many of his PDP associates received with shock, only saying he felt he had achieved all that was needed in politics and it was time to focus on his charity works.
The March 14 letter to Mr Secondus was published by PREMIUM TIMES and other media outlets on Saturday.
By Sunday morning, Mr Daniel was seen holding talks with APC leaders at his residence.
He later issued a statement saying his supporters were clamouring for his move to the APC, especially because he directed them to support APC’s Dapo Abiodun at the governorship election earlier this month.
Many in the PDP said they saw through Mr Daniel’s plot, which was not unique as many politicians had deployed such purported demands of their followers to move across political parties.
Mr Daniel, 62, was criticised for the move, with PDP chieftains like Femi Fani-Kayode accusing him of betraying Mr Abubakar.
Mr Fani-Kayode and others feared Mr Daniel might have undermined Mr Abubakar’s presidential campaign, adding that his decision to cosy up to APC even as Mr Abubakar was preparing to challenge results of the presidential election was enough to suspect foul play by Mr Daniel.
Although Mr Daniel did not publicly or formally express reservations for his resignation from the PDP, his associates who knew the move said it was because he felt slight by the party, twice.
The first was his loss of the party’s chairmanship to Mr Secondus despite an ardent campaign in 2017; and the second was when he was passed over for the director of PDP presidential campaign, for which Senate President Bukola Saraki was selected in October.
‘Not true’
Mr Daniel pushed back against all speculation on Tuesday afternoon, saying in a statement that he was only dissociating from the PDP and not Mr Abubakar, ”and had no plan to join the APC”.
“I have not, will not and will never abandon Atiku,” Mr Daniel said.
“Atiku is different from PDP. I have resigned from PDP and lost interest in partisan politics having put in about 20 years of my life in a thankless process.
“I will commit my God-given resources to help the less privileged through my Foundation and will contribute to sharing the body of knowledge through our not-for-profit political academy. That will be a thankful process.
“I will continue to support the political process in a non-partisan manner. I am clear with my position, without any ambiguity.
“There is no need to insinuate, speculate, extrapolate, anticipate or draw conclusions on my behalf. I did not expect such a simple personal decision can generate such national discourse and for that, I remain grateful to God. I am however most grateful to all my friends and well-wishers,” he said.
Mr Daniel said “the phones have not stopped ringing” about his political consultations.
Mr Daniel led the team that handed Mr Abubakar a successful primary at the PDP convention in Port Harcourt early August.
His duty ranged from scheduling to top-level consultation for endorsements ahead of the primaries.
Mr Abubakar has not publicly commented on Mr Daniel’s move, but a source close to the former vice-president told PREMIUM TIMES it might not be necessary after all.
“Atiku Abubakar that I work with would not have asked Gbenga Daniel not to take any decision he likes for his own interest,” the source said under anonymity. “Although most of us feel betrayed, Atiku Abubakar showed no sign of betrayal; this could be because he had seen it all where Nigerian politics is concerned.”

World Politics / We Won’t Remove Rivers Electoral Commissioner, Inec Tells Apc by Truevine: 07:10 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The Independent National Electoral Commission ( Inec ) has vowed not to remove its Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Obo Effanga.
INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, who stated this on Monday while replying the APC, added that the commission does not take directive from anybody.
Recall that the spokesman for the APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu, had in a statement on Sunday said the redeployment of Effanga became necessary to prevent him from skewing the forthcoming supplementary elections in favour of the opposition.
He had alleged that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, through Effanga, engaged the PDP card-carrying members as local government area collation officers in the last poll and was capable of repeating same in forthcoming elections.
When the Punch asked if the commission would accede to the demands of the APC, Osaze-Uzzi said it was the prerogative of the commission to move resident electoral commissioners.
He said, “We have been hearing that for a long time, it is not new. Did we change the REC in Akwa Ibom? The prerogative of moving RECs is that of the commission. INEC doesn’t take directive from anybody. If the commission sees the need to move anybody, at the appropriate time, it will do that and if there is no need, it will keep them where they are.
“It is the complete prerogative of the commission; if and when the need arises, we will make the necessary adjustments. So, we don’t take dictation or pleas from external groups, more so principal players in the game.”
Besides its call for the removal of Rivers REC, the APC rejected INEC’s decisions to resume collation of results in Rivers and Bauchi states.
The commission had suspended the collations of the results of the governorship and the House of Assembly elections in Rivers State due to violence.
The commission, which initially said there would be supplementary governorship poll in Bauchi, later stated that it would resume the collation of results in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.

World Politics / Court Stops Inec From Collating, Announcing Results In Bauchi by Truevine: 01:30 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) from proceeding with the collation and announcement of the result of the governorship election in Bauchi State held on March 9, 2019.
Justice Inyang Ekwo issued the order on Tuesday on the strength of an ex parte application filed by the All Progressive Congress and the incumbent governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar.
He held that the order would last till the determination of the suit brought before the court by the two plaintiffs.
In the ex parte motion, the APC and Governor Abubakar prayed the court for an order of Interim Injunction restraining Inec from resuming, concluding or announcing the result of the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State in respect of the election to the office of Governor of Bauchi State.
Justice Ekwo had on Monday while ruling on the ex parte ordered Inec to appear before him on Tuesday to show cause why the order sought by the two plaintiffs ought not to be granted.
Instead of complying with the order of the court, INEC represented, by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Tanimu Inuwa, approached the court with a motion challenging its jurisdiction.
Counsel to the plaintiffs, Ahmed Raji, however, objected to the application of INEC, informing the court that the order issued on Monday asking the electoral body to show cause why the requests of the plaintiffs should not be granted had not been obeyed.
Concise News reports that Inec is set to resume the collation of result for the March 9 governorship election in Bauchi State.
The exercise will take place in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, following the disruption of the collation process which led to the cancellation of results for the entire LGA.
This comes one week after the commission declared the keenly contested election inconclusive following its observation that the margin between the two leading candidates was less than the number of cancelled votes.
According to the Returning Officer, Kyari Mohammed, results collated showed that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Mohammed, polled 469,512 votes, while the incumbent governor, Mohammed Abubakar, secured 465,453 votes.

Sports / Okocha Is My Senior Brother – Kanu Dismisses ‘beef’ Rumours by Truevine: 01:06 pm On 3 Mar 2019
It was reported years ago that the sour relationship between the two Superstars started many years ago after the midfield maestro quit international football.
According to the reports, Kanu who at that time won the FA Cup with Portsmouth FC was selected alongside Austin Okocha to decide who got the ambassadorial honour for Fidelity Bank Plc.
Due to the influence of Kanu among some South East governors, the former Arsenal striker won it and this did not go down well with Jay jay.
The two, according to a very close source, have often avoided each other any time event brings them together.
However, Kanu spoke live through Brila FM on Tuesday morning and told former Teammate Ifeanyi Udeze that there’s no beef at all between the duo.
‘Okocha is my senior brother, Infact our families are very close’
‘Ahbeg o, there’s nothing of such’,
Both Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Okocha Captained the Nigerian National team at a different period.

Sports / My Super Eagles Team Lack Big Players, Says Rohr by Truevine: 01:02 pm On 3 Mar 2019
While the Franco-German was pointing the fact that no Nigerian player now plays in the top clubs in Europe, he quickly corrected the notion that his team are one of the favorites for summer African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
“Stay humble, please. Which of our players is playing in a big team? Which one is playing in UEFA Champions League? , he asked.
“I saw the teams on Tuesday and Wednesday last week in the Champions League and obviously I didn’t see anybody. We don’t have big players like we used to have before. Where is Okocha, where is Kanu, where is Enyeama and others.” Rohr told the media at Soccer Temple Agege last Sunday.
“Fortunately, we have Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze who are playing Europa League and other young players. We have young players who are the future but our strength is the team.”
Rohr later added that he’s optimistic that the team will make a big statement on the continent without the star players like previous generations.
“We know that we have a young team with good spirit but we don’t have the stars like we have before. I hope with time that will come back.”
“So I hope that with this our strength, we can go far in AFCON,” He concluded.
Nigeria are expected to round up its AFCON qualifier campaign in style when they host minors Seychelles, before taking on Egypt in an international friendly later this month.

Sports / I Never Knew I’d Play Professional Football – Chikatara by Truevine: 12:59 pm On 3 Mar 2019
When I was growing up, I played and was in various academys but I never knew I would become a professional footballer as I never planned it this way. I feel it was God’s grace and he also brought people my way who helped me mentally and physically.
Even when I moved to Abia Warriors, many of my teammates gave me a reason to play football. Given my performance at club level, I was handed a chance by Coach Oliseh and Coach Salisu to play in CHAN. Was called up for U17, U20, and U23 but all never worked out. I just feel God’s time is the best.”
Chisom Chikatara played club football in Nigeria with Abia Warriors and also had a stint in Morocco with Wydad Casablanca.

Sports / Why I Retired Early From Football – Okocha by Truevine: 12:52 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Okocha decided to quit the game that gave him so much game and fortune in 2008 at 34 after playing in Germany, Turkey, France, England, Qatar.
“I must confess that [not getting a lot of playing time] was one of the main reasons why I retired from playing at a very young age,” Okocha told media men.
“I believe that it is not worth it to train from Monday to Friday just to have 20 minutes on the pitch or sit on the bench on Saturday. I am very competitive.”
The midfielder made 75 appearances for the Eagles from 1993-2006, scoring 14 goals, including winning the 1994 AFCON, 1996 Olympic gold in Atlanta and playing at three world cup.

World Politics / Ajimobi’s Failure Gave Way For Our Victory – Femi Babalola by Truevine: 11:50 am On 3 Mar 2019
A Chief in the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo State Chapter, Femi Babalola (Jogor) has revealed that the party won the just concluded governorship election conducted in the state as a result of failure of the Ajimobi led-administration.
Babalola gave the revelation in the political program, Gbangba Lasaata on Splash 105.5FM, Ibadan with Abiodun Adewole (Mr Double) at early hours of Monday, 18th of March, 2019.
According to him, the party’s candidate in the last governorship election but now the governor elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde won as a result of Gov. Ajimobi ‘s failure.
“We won the last governorship election because of Ajimobi’s failure. This makes people to love us. We had their massive votes during the last election. His failure gave way for our victory.
“Truly, this present administration had tried their best but their endeavor never reached the commensurable standard expected by the people, and they never execute their policies align with the people’s desire. So, these eased our own victory.” He said.
He further revealed that, the Lord had already revealed the party’s victory to them even before the election was conducted but they decided not to cast the revelation then until now.
While responding to the positions to be shared among the party that merged with PDP in the forthcoming administration, he said that, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Action Democratic Congress (ADC) and PDP are one family because PDP gave birth to them all. Evidently, PDP serves as their father. As a result, this issue is settled hence all the parties have already know their respective positions allocated to them in the imminent government.
He, however, showed his dissatisfaction over the Incessant collapse of buildings in Nigeria, and he urged the Physical Planning and Urban Development Agency in every Local Government Area to endeavor in moving round their respective territory to inspecting the drawings of building to prevent further collapses. They should ensure to give approval to drawings before contractors starts building.

World Politics / Alleged N500 Fraud : Efcc Re-arraigns Ex-sgf Babachir Lawal, Three Others by Truevine: 01:50 am On 3 Mar 2019
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has being re-arraigned alongside three others before Justice Jude Okeke of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Maitama.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned Lawal, his younger brother, Hamidu David Lawal, Suleiman Abubakar, Apeh John Monday and two companies, Rholavision Engineering Ltd and Josmon Technologies Ltd, on an amended 10-count charge bordering on fraud, diversion of funds and criminal conspiracy to the tune of over N500 million.
Recall that they were earlier arraigned before Justice Okeke on February 13 and the prosecution was meant to open its case today, March 18.
At the resumed hearing, counsel for the EFCC, Offem Uket, told the court that the charges against them had been amended, and that they had to take a fresh plea.
While citing Section 218 (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA 2015, Akin Olujimi, counsel for Lawal, argued that “before the charge is taken, the prosecution ought to have filed the amended charge to ensure that it was properly endorsed”.
Other defence counsels aligned themselves with the submission of Olujimi.
Justice Okeke, while ordering the prosecution to comply with the section cited by Mr Olujimi, however, ruled that in the interim, the amended charges be read to the defendants.
One of the counts reads: “That you, Engineer Babachir David Lawal, while being the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and a director of Rholavision Engineering Ltd on or about the 22nd August 2016 at Abuja in the Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did knowingly hold indirectly private interest in the contract awarded to Josmon Technological Ltd but executed by Rholavision Engineering Ltd for the removal of invasive plant species and simplified irrigation to the tune of N258,132,735.99 (Two Hundred and Fifty Eight Million, One hundred and Thirty Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty Five Naira only) by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) though the Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 12 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.”
They pleaded “not guilty” to the amended charges.
The defence team, thereafter, prayed the court to allow the defendants to continue with the bail earlier granted them by the court.
The request of the defence was granted by Justice Okeke, who adjourned to April 11, 2019 for “commencement of trial”, noting that, “the court is minded to grant an adjournment due to the amendment of the charges.”
The Court had earlier granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50 million, with one surety in like sum, who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court, and must be owner of a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court, with evidence of three years tax payment. The international passports of the defendants were also ordered to be deposited with the court.

World Politics / Akpabio Approaches Tribunal To Reclaim Senate Seat by Truevine: 01:42 am On 3 Mar 2019
Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state have approached the Election Petition Tribunal to reclaim the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial seat from the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong.
Akpabio was, a former Minority Leader of Senate under the PDP, was the candidate of the APC for the senatorial seat for the February 23 National Assembly election.
Aniete Ekong, Akpabio’s Press Secretary, disclosed this in a statement.
“Following the withdrawal of his case filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, which sought to challenge his Senate re-election loss, the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district in the February 23 election, Akpabio, and his party, have approached the election tribunal sitting in Uyo, to kick-start the legal processes that would lead to the validation of his victory at the polls”, he said.
According to Ekong, the former governor is challenging Ekpenyong’s victory based on perceived electoral irregularities which characterised the said election.
Akpabio is also accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of infractions and deliberate violations of the electoral law and guidelines during the senatorial election.
“in the said election, INEC had in collaboration with some PDP chieftains in the senatorial district, wrongfully declared Ekpeyong and his party, PDP, winner of the poll, having scored 118,215 as against Akpabio’s 83,158.
“However, incontrovertible result sheets from Akwa Ibom INEC office showed different figures that had Akpabio securing 138,256 votes as against Ekpeyong’s 123,843.
“Dissatisfied with the conduct and outcome of the election, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State and his party vowed to approach the election petition tribunal to ventilate their grievances as well as reclaim their stolen mandate”, Ekong said.

World Politics / Onnoghen: How Star Witness Exposed Fg’s Desperation by Truevine: 01:36 am On 3 Mar 2019
The Federal Government has been revealed to have preempted the outcome of investigation into a petition against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, as charges were filed against him before the conclusion of investigation.
This much was admitted to by FG’s Prosecution Witness 1, James Akpala, a Senior Investigative Officer at the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.
Akpala informed the tribunal in his Evidence-In-Chief, that the petition was handed to his team for investigation by his superior at the CCB, Mr. Samuel Madojemu, on January 9.
“The petition was authored by Chief Dennis Aghanya of the Anti-Corruption and Research-Based Data Initiative, alleging breach of Code of Conduct for Public Officers, including non-declaration of assets and false declaration of assets, against the Hon. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
“Thereafter, the team wrote to the Federal Political Officers Unit (of the Bureau), Asokoro, requesting the defendant’s asset declarations received from 2000 to 2009.
“The department responded. The two asset declaration forms were examined and filed in the case file”, the witness stated.
During cross examination by Onnoghen’s lawyer, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo. Akpala admitted that he was not aware that the CCB had a central register where asset declaration forms submitted to it by public officers are kept.
He also claimed not to have any idea of the number of asset declaration forms the Bureau issued from 1993 to 2019, adding however that the constitution mandated every public officer to go to the nearest office of the CCB to declare their assets.
The witness said further: “I have never worked in the department where asset declaration forms are issued to public officers.
“I have never worked in the department where the forms are verified”.
According to the witness, the petition against Onnoghen was delivered to the CCB on January 9 and forwarded to his team on January 10.
“We requested for records of his accounts from the bank on January 11”.
Akpala however said he could not answer the question asked him regarding the filing of the case on January 10, with the list of witnesses.
After seeing a copy of the charge shown him by Onnoghen’s lawyer, Akpala said: “As at January 10, we had not taken the statement of the defendant. We concluded our assignment on January 11”.
Awomolo further asked him: “So Mr. Akpala, will I be correct to say that within 24 hours that the petition was received, investigation was concluded and an order secured from the tribunal to prefer charges against the defendant?”.
The witness replied: “Yes that is correct. We requested for documents and they were forwarded to us, which we examined. Based on examination we conducted on the documents, the charge was filed”.
Awomolo asked again: “When you obtained statement of the defendant at the Supreme Court, around 1pm on January 11, you did not tell him that a six-count charge had already been filed against him?”
The witness said: “My Lord, I am an investigator, I do not work in the legal department.
“At the time the defendant recorded his statement around 12:30pm, the team had no idea that the charge had been filed.
“At about 2pm when we got to the office, we had not written our report then.
“We finished our report at about quarter to 3pm. The report was addressed to the Deputy Director Intelligence, Investigation and Monitoring”.
On the suggestion that FG already secured leave of the tribunal and preferred charges against Onnoghen before the conclusion of their report, the witness said: “My lord I cannot answer this question.
“All I know is that we filed our report after we obtained statement of the defendant. We were not aware that the charge was already filed”.

Crime / s*xual Predator Pediatrician Gets Up To 158 Years In Prison by Truevine: 01:27 am On 3 Mar 2019
A Pennsylvania pediatrician who admitted to molesting several generations of children was sentenced Monday to spend the rest of his life in prison after 18 now-grown women took turns pleading with the court to throw the book at him, with many calling him a “monster.”
Dr. Johnnie “Jack” Barto, 71, was hit with a sentence of 79 to 158 years in prison, virtually guaranteeing that he will die behind bars, Attorney General Josh Shapiro said.
Shapiro called the disgraced doctor a “serial predator,” saying Barto preyed on children “to feed his own sick desires.”
“He held himself out as a pillar in his community — a family pediatrician, an elected member of the school board, a regular attendee at church,” Shapiro said. “My office unraveled Barto’s web of lies, deceit and assault of children, and today he’s been held accountable for his crimes.”
“People trusted him,” he added. And Barto did not abuse only the children he saw at his practice — Laurel Pediatric Associates, located in the Johnstown suburb of Richland Township. He also preyed on family members, including a 7-year-old and a 14-year-old.
Barto’s sentencing came a day after several women — who said the doctor molested them when they were children — described in a lengthy interview with NBC News how the Johnstown community rallied behind him in 2000, the first time he was accused of abusing children.
Twenty years ago, this predator could have been stopped,” Jennifer Goetz, 42, said on the steps of the Cambria County Courthouse.
Goetz, who said she was about 8 when Barto violated her in 1984, said, "Today is a bittersweet day for me.”
Erika Brosig, who said she was 12 when Barto molested her in 1994, said the doctor had enablers who also need to be called to account.
“Parents were making complaints frequently about Dr. Barto,” she said. “We want to find out who did know and what was the level of their responsibility.”
Brosig was among the women who gave victim impact statements during the sentencing in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, before Cambria County Common Pleas Judge Patrick Kiniry.
Shapiro read one the victim impact statements afterward.
“By luck of the draw of physicians in his office, I was a patient of the defendant one time when I was 5 years old,” Shapiro read. “One time too many. During my visit, he violated me not once, but twice, while other unsuspecting individuals were in the room. While his actions were brief, they were damaging. They impacted my life in how I view myself, including my self-worth and self-esteem.”
“To the defendant: You don’t know anything about me,” Shapiro continued reading. “To you, I am a number in your list of abused children. But I remember you. I remember your white-collared, long-sleeve shirt with light purple vertical stripes. I remember the way I laid and sat when you became a monster.”
Barto's wife of nearly 48 years, Linda, sat with the victims when the court proceedings got underway. She also submitted a victim impact statement and asked the court for justice for the people hurt by her husband.
"There is not a day when I don't feel heaviness in my heart for his victims," Linda Barto said.
As his wife and the other women addressed the court, Barto sat sphinxlike in a gray suit beside his lawyer, David Weaver.
Barto was hit with the staggering sentence two months after he first pleaded guilty to molesting the two relatives, and no-contest to three other allegations brought by children he was accused of s*xually abusing at his practice.
Under questioning, Barto also admitted to s*xually assaulting dozens more children during the four decades he practiced medicine in and around Johnstown, Shapiro said.
Barto targeted girls and boys, most between the ages of 8 and 12, the chief prosecutor said. The youngest victims were a toddler and a 2-week-old.
Most of the assaults happened after Barto got his medical license back in 2000. It had been suspended after he was accused the first time of s*xually abusing three children in 1998. His license was restored in 2000 by the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine.
“When he was first accused in 1998, Barto thought he was immune from prosecution and played a long game to make sure the families thought well of him and allowed their children near him,” Shapiro said.
Despite the rumors that Barto was still molesting children, he managed to elude law enforcement until Dec. 21, 2017, when a 12-year-old girl told her mother that at the end of an examination, the doctor had her sit on his lap while he molested her, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Barto was arrested by the Richland Township police Jan. 18, 2018. That same day, The Tribune–Democrat newspaper reported, a “ Support for Johnnie ‘Jack’ Barto” page went up on Facebook, complete with testimonials from local parents whose children were his patients.
The page quickly came down after Barto finally admitted his guilt.
Shapiro noted that in addition to the 31 incidents of assault charged, at least a half-dozen other cases could not be charged because of the criminal statute of limitations laws in Pennsylvania.
“I will continue to work my tail off to change the laws in this commonwealth so every victim has a chance to hold their abuser accountable,” he said.

Religion / Can A Christian Drink Alcohol? by Truevine: 12:50 am On 3 Mar 2019
When a European Airline was initially launched, an educated Christian gentleman was traveling in the first class section.
An air hostess approached him with a complimentary drink, this was an alcoholic drink, but the man politely refused.
The air hostess returned but this time brought the drink on a platter, designed to appeal and impress. However, the Christian man again politely refused, explaining he doesn't drink alcohol.
The air hostess was concerned and informed the manager. The manager approached the man with another platter, now designed with flowers. He questioned, “Is there something wrong with our service? Please enjoy the drink, it is a complimentary offer.”
The man replied, “I am a Christian and I do not drink alcohol? The manager still insisted that the man take the drink. Then, the Christian proposed that the manager should give the drink to the pilot first. The manager stated, “How can the pilot drink alcohol, he’s on duty! And if he drinks there are all chances for the plane to crash”.
The Christian passenger with tears in his eyes, replied, “I am a Christian and I am ALWAYS on duty in order to protect my FAITH and if I Drink Alcohol I will crash my whole life here and hereafter. I AM 100% ON DUTY!"
Maybe yours might not be an alcohol, it may be tempting you for *s*x* as it was done to *Joseph*, battling with how to control your *anger*, profane and vain *babblings*, your *dressing* , your *attitude* towards people and finally not sharing the *Word*.
Do you know that souls are dying because of those reckless behaviours of ours?
*WE ARE 100% ON DUTY*

Religion / Righteous Idol Worshipper? by Truevine: 12:48 am On 3 Mar 2019
I wondered why I was in the queue of accused at all. I am intelligent, aggressive, young, totally committed to my God. What am I doing here with this sheet of supposed sins in my hand I wondered?
I don’t drink, I don't smoke, I don’t fornicate, I don’t steal, I am righteous. Others should be here not me.
It was finally my turn to face the Man.
I placed my sheet before Him, He glanced at it and sighed softly. He looked at me and calmly said, ‘Guilty of idol worship.'
Imagine my anger, my fury, my indignation. I jumped out of the chair and said ‘Of course not! Check the sheet again, check the name, It can't be mine.’
He sighed again and mentioned one of my names that no one knows.
I would not be stopped. It's impossible’ I yelled. I worship only God, the Most High, Maker of heaven and earth, the King of kings and Lord of lords. I bow down to none, I have no talisman, no amulet, no pot underneath my bed.
‘You are guilty of idol worship’ He repeated calmly.
He looked at me, I looked at Him. It seemed like forever. The room was silent. I could hear the clock ticking.
Then slowly I understood.
I am never late for bus/train station or air flight but I am always late to church - I blinked.
My payments to services I enjoy eg: Dstv, phone bills etc, are never late but I haven’t given offerings/tithes in three months - I looked down.
When meeting one of our local chiefs last week I would not even pick a call in the presence of earthly royalty, but I WhatsApp in church
I wouldn’t interrupt my performance appraisal with my boss for anything but I missed church last week because of a series on TV
I wouldn’t let a day end without talking to my spouse but today I just said Hi God, Bye God. And I didn’t even pray last night - The room began to feel hot.
I would never miss going to the bank because of the weather but I missed fellowship on Wednesday and Friday because it was drizzling .
I would wear my party colors to party meetings and not care what anyone thought of me but I hate to talk to my workmates about God because of what they will think of me.
I always have the latest tech gadget you can think of but my bible is so worn out. I can’t even find the book of Jude in my bible anymore.
The last thing to touch before going to bed is my phone and the first thing in the morning....chating on whatapp or replying offline messages. And never bordering to talk with God or reading His word.
I felt so hot in the room, a nervous sweat on my forehead, I felt so ill and weak, all of my anger and self-righteousness was gone, leaving immense guilt in its wake.
I slowly got of the chair and knelt by His feet and said ‘I am sorry, I am guilty as charged, Guilty of idol worship, guilty of placing others; humans, technology before You. I am guilty of idol worship.’
He smiled gently, looked at me with those passionate eyes of His full of love and He gave me a fresh sheet!and said, Deliver souls!!

Religion / Errors Made By Men by Truevine: 12:36 am On 3 Mar 2019
I was fortunate to meet a man some months ago. During our conversation he said "its impossible for God to choose for anyone, you are the one who will tell God that, God this is sister/brother.....I love her and want to marry her, please guide our steps" I said the little the HOLYSPIRIT led me to say and we departed. But this morning the memory of the word he said "its impossible for God to Choose for anyone came afresh as if the man was talking to me again and asking it as a question "Is it possible for GOD to Choose for one?" While I was wondering on why such a question came I remembered Genesis 2vs 18,21-24 but the HOLYSPIRIT said put aside Genesis 2vs 18,21-24 and see to it if God didn't find a soul mate for him. Then I was beginning to reason and went back to my Bible and checked Genesis 2 vs 20, then another word came- while Adam was giving names to the animals, he would have seen monkey looked like him, if he had told God, I want this monkey to be my soul mate then it means it will be like that but remember monkey is an animal and it will never think like man, this also applies to brothers/sisters who choose base on their thinking, the brother/sister will never think right when you are thinking to the right direction, they think like animal because you choose based on your wish and not on GOD'S instruction. Proverbs 3 vs 5-6, Proverbs 16vs 9 and Proverbs 20 vs 24. Remain blessed.

Religion / Wrong Thinking(the Lord Has Chosen For Me) by Truevine: 12:34 am On 3 Mar 2019
Great people do not be like a man
whom GOD said, he will become rich, instead of
him to work, he fold his hands saying 'GOD said i
will be rich' when you seek for anything and you
get replies to it,continue to seek his face daily and not only when
you need his help.
A lady and a young man seeked the face of the
LORD and GOD gave them signs differently and it was confirmed that they are meant for each other.
During the course of their courtship, the man impregnate another lady. He did introduction with the lady's family and they both lived together. He approached this lady(the lady God told him about) and explained the mistake he made and the lady said "the Lord has chosen you" I will be the second wife because the LORD said we are meant together. My sisters/
brothers, my God doesnt give a rotten egg to his children.(It was one of her sister in church who called her attention and adviced her to seek the face of God and now she's happily married with kids)
Seek the face of the LORD always and not only when you need him, the purpose of courtship is to know more about each other and never stop Praying even after the LORD has spoken.
The LORD's plan never change but God changes is vessel. Beware by seeking is face always not to end up with HOLYSPIRIT filled and not HOLYSPIRIT controlled person. A man who has the knowledge of the word and not the understanding of the word. A man having the knowledge of God and not FAITH in GOD
Do not just fold your hands, sit back, see him backslide and all you could say is 'The LORD has chosen for me' A man/woman who doesnt make decision on his/her own except the parents make the decision and the LORD has chosen for you. He didn't Just Choose you there for fun, Its for you to help him/her build confidence that he/she can make decisions and pray along, so you don't end up in a home where the parents have the final say over their child.
Remember his plan never change. Seek his face always to know what he has for you daily. Remain blessed.

The parents, named as Ismail S., 23, and Nina R., 26, allegedly abused the tot at their home in the city of Ludwigshafen in the western German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Nina R., a saleswoman, is accused of causing the severe injuries to the child when he was just six weeks old.
Chief prosecutor Hubert Stroeber said: 'She wanted to get s*xual satisfaction.'
Ismail S. also allegedly took part in the abuse of the boy, causing a 'bloody wound' in the baby's genital area as well as a 'visible and painful bruise', according to prosecutors.
The couple took the baby to a hospital where doctors detected severe peritonitis, the inflammation of the peritoneum typically caused by the rupture of an abdominal organ.
Shocked medics also found the baby to be suffering from a skull injury, a cerebral haemorrhage, fractured ribs, bruising to the lungs and heart, and bleeding from the eyes. They also suspected that the tot suffered from older fractures.
According to local media, the baby required emergency surgery and an artificial anus as a result of the horrific injuries.
Mr Stroeber added: 'Even professionals in my public prosecutor's office were shocked.'
The little boy, who is now seven months old, is currently living with a foster family.
Family and friends told local media that Nina R. had shown signs of cruelty even as a child when she had allegedly tortured two guinea pigs to death.
The saleswoman met Ismail S. in November 2017, and soon became pregnant before delivering a healthy baby boy at the end of August last year.
They have been detained in custody since last November and the public prosecutor's office has now charged them with grievous bodily harm and s*xual abuse.
Their trial is scheduled for May.

Weird News / ‘shameless’ Scammers Seek To Cash In On Christchurch Massacre by Truevine: 01:38 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Scammers are trying to cash in on the Christchurch mosque massacres, using phishing emails with links to fake bank accounts to ensnare people keen to donate, New Zealand’s cybersecurity body said March 18.
The attack on two mosques in which 50 worshippers were killed, allegedly by a white supremacist, has caused an outpouring of grief and prompted a flood of donations – well over NZ$7mil (RM19.60mil) – to those affected.

Religion / The Unfortunate Part by Truevine: 01:13 pm On 3 Mar 2019
It sadden my heart when I see people who don't know what they believe in.
Christians you are not just a christian to be preached to and concur to every word you listen to(Acts 17 vs 11- You need to know if what he has said is true by searching through the word)
2. Testing the spirit- 1st John 4 vs 1
b. let it guide you- John 15 vs 13 and John 14 vs 26
Its will be impossible to test the spirit if you do not have the HOLYSPIRIT- John 8 vs 42-47.
Be careful of what you read and what you search for. When you read before digesting every word and acting on it, be assured is from God.
Great people every man will be judged accordingly. The errors made by men to let you fall won't be an excuse to pardon you on the day of judgement. Once you don't thread on the right path then you know what it means- 2nd Corinthians 5 vs 10. Your ignorance won't be an excuse to God to let you in. So get closer to him, so you are not lead by the laws of men. James 4 vs 7-8.

Religion / Do God Speak? by Truevine: 01:10 pm On 3 Mar 2019
(A) Someone once asked me how do GOD speak?
GOD speaks in so many ways. Let me give
examples of three men GOD spoke to in different
ways- Moses(through the burning Bush but the
bush was not burning) Exodus 3 vs 1-4, Ezekiel-
Ezekiel 2 vs 1-2, Paul- Acts 9 vs 1-6
He speaks in differerent ways. Through birds
(nature in general) , the mad, dreams e.t.c
(B) Why do people not hear him speak?
1. Their heart is far from GOD- Matthew 15 vs 8
2. John 8 vs 42-47- JESUS said to them, "If GOD
were your Father, you would love me, for I came from GOD and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear. what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to GOD hears what GOD says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
(C) How do I hear him speak?
Step of FAITH to take if you want to hear him speak.
1. Believe that he exists- Hebrews 11vs 6
and give your life to him. Let him be Lord over your life- Romans 10 vs 9-10
2. Total submission of oneself(by surrending your life to JESUS and confessing your sins)Proverbs 28 vs 13and James 4 vs 7-8
3. Pray always- 1st Thessalonians 5 vs 17
4. Fasting- Matthew 17 vs 21 and Matthew 6 vs 16-18
5. Daily BIBLE Reading- Joshua 1vs8
6. Allow the HOLYSPIRIT teach you- John 14vs26
7.. Baptism- Mark 1vs4-5
Note-Every believer must have the HOLYSPIRIT.
Finally-Your readiness to go out of sin will help you, unless the one that owns your soul dwells in you come in that he will help you willingly. Remain blessed.

Religion / The Will Of God In Relationship by Truevine: 01:06 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Yes. I confirmed it myself that Dele (name withheld) is the will of God for me.
Is it the regular peace of mind you wanna talk about or the fact that his calls come in whenever I finished praying to God for confirmation about him? or the B*tterflies that dances in my belle?
I prayed, I fasted and of course I got confirmation from my friends Becky and Bella (name withheld).
I have no reason not to say yes to him. He is just somehow like what I wanted in a man. We share the same faith in the same denomination.
After a long weeks of prayer and fasting and waiting on God, I felt within me that I should go ahead and get married to Dele.
I was convinced that he is the Will of God for me.
The journey began. The first year of the courtship was a bit rosy. And there was no cause for alarm.
To cut the long story short, I ended the so called God's will relationship. And that was after I could no longer withstand his improper ways of handling things.
I don't even care if he had already met my parent.
I don't care if I have spoken with his parents.
I don't care if my friends already knew him to be mine.
As long as he is behaving wrongly with his s*xual urge, ladies urge and character, I just don't care! I just wanna be free and so I just walked out of it and just like that, the feelings flew off my heart window as well as the B*tterflies as there was no music for them anymore.
Then I wonder "but I got my confirmation. My friends did too! Then what happened did I hear wrongly?"
I realised that it is not a bad thing to call off a relationship that is leading you against God's will.
If the relationship is not bringing pleasure to God, It is no longer the will of God.
The moment the relationship starts heading to the wrong direction and none or one of you is not ready to yield to God's way, is the moment to let go of it before talking about legalising marriage.
The question is, this so called God's will relationship that I am into, is it still pleasing to God?
Is it building us up?
Is it helping us build on our strength?
Is it helping us to work on our weaknesses or indulge in it?
Am I still feeling peacefully peaceful?
Are we medically compatible?
You may wanna ask? Can God's will be wrong?
My answer is God's Will as long as it has human factor is subjected to change. God's will in itself is not wrong but the human in it can go wrong.
Remember Saul, the same God who appointed him also rejected him simply because of his inability to yield to God's Will.
Aside from the fact that you are God's will for someone, it is important for you to Work On Yourself to Show thyself Approved by God and Worthy of whatever you're meant to do.
Don't be blinded by emotional lies.
Don't be shy to walk away.
Don't be pressured by friends and family who won't stay to experience your marriage with you.
In all things, If it doesn't please God, don't let it stay.
The Best is on the way!
Merciful Monday to us all.

Religion / Can My Pastor Choose For Me? by Truevine: 12:54 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Your Pastor cannot and should not choose your life partner for you. God knows who is best for you and he will tell you, God doesn't have a grandchild so he doesn't need to send a message to a child to tell another child who is best for him/her. "Everyone is entitled to hear directly from him"
If a Pastor chooses for you, when the trouble comes, your Pastor wont be there every time to handle it but when God chooses, you run back to him during challenges and he will solve the case.
Remember little can your Pastor do when problem arises but God can do all things when the storm arises- Proverbs 20 vs 24. If you say your Pastor has chosen for you and you go ahead with it remember- 1st Kings 22 vs 1-12 but take note of 19-22, don't forget vs 6; they were four hundred prophets
Malachi 3 vs 15- Has not (the LORD) made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.-( what I want to bring out here is just this " because he was seeking godly offspring"..... .. .. how do you Raise a godly offspring when the LORD is not the foundation of your home. How do you Raise a godly offspring when you can't hear your maker speak to you directly on how to guide your steps.
My great people you cannot give what you don't have. You cannot Raise a godly child when you aren't godly except God touches the life of the child. Go and see where errors start from. They are from the home, where children do not have encounter with God, where parents cannot teach their children to pray and read the BIBLE. If you fail, You fail....The best is to follow his instruction so you do not fail. Let GOD decide and lay the foundation of that home for you so your home doesn’t collapse after years of building.
Marry a man/woman whom God has chosen for you, someone whose Focus is on God, one whom you will both go on your knees when issue arises and not one who will run here and there over every issue. One whose final decision is based on GOD'S decision.
Please who gives those people wisdom and power(GOD) then Why don't you seek him directly. When GOD choose for you he becomes the foundation of your home.
In conclusion- Allow GOD lay the foundation of your home and you will have a godly and blessed home. Remain blessed.

Business/Investments / Costa Coffee Blasted For ‘tricking’ Customers Into Paying An Extra 25p..... by Truevine: 10:05 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The chain, recently bought by Coca-Cola for £3.9billion, is pushing its Winter Character Roast.
But staff fail to mention that the Columbia blend — made with “winter berries, dark cocoa and warming cinnamon’” — adds nearly 11 per cent to the cost.
The Sun tested the ruse at a South London branch.
Ordering a small white Americano, we were asked: “Would you like that with a Columbia roast?
“We have two blends of coffee. This one is 100 per cent Arabica. It has a fruity taste and is a little bit less bitter.”
But no mention was made of the 25p extra charge, taking the price from £2.30 to £2.55.
Martyn James, of consumer complaint handling site Resolver, said: “It’s upselling by stealth.
“If Costa wants to try out a new blend of coffee beans it should be upfront about it.
“I’ve fallen victim to this pressure tactic at Costa. It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.”
Costa told The Sun that staff were expected to warn of the 25p charge. It added: “We apologise to any customer who has opted for a new roast without being informed of the additional cost.”

Sports / Maurizio Sarri Admits It Will Be 'impossible' For Chelsea To Qualify For The Champions League.... by Truevine: 09:26 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The Chelsea head coach was left perplexed at the manner in which his team surrendered a position of strength at Goodison Park and disintegrated in the second 45 minutes, enabling the hosts to beat top six opposition for the first time in 26 attempts.
There was no sign of such an outcome during the first half, as Chelsea controlled the tempo, but the way in which they folded after Richarlison had opened the scoring left Sarri to openly question the mentality of his squad, who fluffed the opportunity to put pressure on their top-four rivals.
'I'm worried about our mentality,' said Sarri, whose side have lost four of their last five Premier League away fixtures, conceding 15 goals in the process. 'I think the situation is clear. We played probably the best 45 minutes of the season.
'Then, suddenly, at the beginning of the second half, we stopped playing. I don't know why. So the situation is clear. It is impossible the problem is a physical problem because if you have a physical problem, you go down gradually, not in one second.
'We played really very well until the last minute of the first half and then suddenly very badly in the first minute of the second half. It's very difficult for players to explain to me the change. Very difficult for me to explain to you the change. It is a mental block, I think.
'At the moment, it is our limit, I think because if we are able to play like in the first half, with consistency, I think we are in another position in the table but we have this problem. If we play like we did in the first half, anything is possible. If we play as we did in the second half, it is impossible.
Sarri, whose side failed to threaten a comeback after going behind, added: 'It is a big limit for is because we lost a similar match in Wolverhampton. This was really, really important for us. Now we have one less opportunity but I think we have to fight to defend those opportunities.'
If Sarri felt embattled, Marco Silva was breathing easier after the best day of his Everton career. The last time the club had celebrated such a success was when they skewered Manchester City 4-0 in January 2017. It was the perfect response to a desperate result at Newcastle last weekend.
'To be honest, I didn't know those numbers before the match,' said Silva, who saw the points made safe when Gylfi Sigurdsson added a second. 'It's not a normal thing for a club like us, not winning so many times against strong sides.
'But for our quality as a club how big we are as a club, it's something that can't happen again. It's up to us to work together for it to be more normal for us to beat these strong sides.'

Sports / Tiger Feels 'right On Track' After Tpc Final Round by Truevine: 09:17 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Tiger Woods didn't have the results he wanted at the Players Championship, but he nonetheless left the TPC Sawgrass Stadium course feeling good about where his game is headed, specifically as it relates to the Masters next month.
"It's right on track," Woods said after shooting his first round of the tournament in the 60s, a 3-under-par 69. "I feel like I'm able to shape the ball both ways, which I'm going to need [at Augusta National]. Just need a few more putts to go in, but that's about it."
Even on the greens, Woods saw some improvement at the Players, where he had no 3-putts -- after consecutive tournaments with six each -- and took just 26 putts on Sunday.
But he was also unusually average with his iron play, ranking well down the field in strokes gained, approach to the green and tee to green after a surprisingly good driving week that saw him rank fourth in that category.
Woods finished at 282, 6 under par and in a tie for 31st.
"I'm excited the way I drove it," he said. "I drove the ball well this week. I drove it not quite as long on the weekend with a little bit cooler temperatures, but I was driving it pretty straight and I was able to shape the golf ball both ways with all three of my woods, which was good to see."
Woods birdied three of his first seven holes to shoot 33 on the front side, then stalled on the back, with a single birdie and his only bogey at the 14th. He saved par at the 16th after his second shot found the water and managed to get up and down by chipping from the fringe on the par-3 17th -- where he left himself nearly 60 feet from the hole.
Generally, it was a decent tournament for Woods, who tied for 11th here last year but was coming off a missed tournament a week ago because of a neck strain.
"I needed that," Woods said of the time off. "I needed to get that organized, and as I was telling you guys earlier in the week, if my back gets tight, it's going to go up the chain and so I got to start at ground zero and get my lower back moving properly and get everything good and after that everything will take care of itself."
Although Woods missed a tournament he has won eight times, the week off was likely for the best, he said.
"It was the right decision to make considering that I have April right around the corner," he said. "Wanted to make sure I get that organized coming into a week where you can hit a few shots where you're standing on your head having to hit some weird shots, and the way I was feeling in Mexico, that would have been a tall order for me."
Still, the tie for 31st was Woods' worst in four tournament starts this year after a tie for 20th at the Farmers Insurance Open, a tie for 15th at the Genesis Open and a tie for 10th at the WGC-Mexico Championship. And the closest he has finished to the lead was 8 strokes back of winner J.B. Holmes at Riviera.
This was Woods' last stroke-play event prior to the Masters, as his next start will be in two weeks at the WGC-Dell Match Play -- a tournament he has won three times but one he has not played since 2013. He has also not competed in it at Austin Country Club, where it has been played since 2016..

Entertainment / Channelling Grief Love Island’s Malin Andersson Reveals Late Baby Daughter Inspired New App...’ by Truevine: 09:01 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The 26-year-old Love Island star was left devastated when her four-week-old daughter Consy died on January 23 after being born seven weeks premature.
Now Malin has revealed that she has channelled her grief into her work in a bid to help her fans.
Taking to her Twitter page earlier today, the brunette beauty wrote: " Since Baby Consy has died I have spent day and night creating the ultimate app with my team for you all.
"It is a bible for self help, mental health, your body and soul.
"I’m hoping it can help someone that’s going through ANYTHING. Keep your eyes peeled."
Since Baby Consy has died I have spent day and night creating the ultimate app with my team for you all. It is a bible for self help, mental health, your body and soul. I’m hoping it can help someone that’s going through ANYTHING. Keep your eyes peeled.
— Malin Andersson (@MissMalinSara) March 17, 2019
The tweet comes just hours after Malin hit out at Love Island producers for not offering contestants enough psychological support once they have left the villa.
The comments came after news of 2017 Islander Mike Thalassitis' tragic death broke yesterday evening.
Malin wrote: "WAKE UP @LoveIsland!!!! I got flowers from the producers when my daughter died. No f**king phone call. No support, or help.
The Love Island star lost baby Consy in January
"Enough is enough. Nothing when my mum died. Nothing when Sophie [Gradon] died. Change needs to happen.
"If I didn’t have a strong head on me that my mum passed down to me, I wouldn’t have been able to cope with this all.
"But not everyone is like this. PLEASE IF YOU FEEL ALONE, OR SAD, OR STUCK REACH OUT TO SOMEBODY!"
Last month, Malin paid touching tribute to her former Love Island co-star Sophie , who was found dead in her parents' Newcastle home in June.
She tweeted: "You’re up there with my Mumma and Daughter looking down on all of us. Love you unconditionally."
Malin previously lost her beloved mother to breast cancer in November 2017, naming her daughter Consy in her mum's honour.

Entertainment / Holly Willoughby's Fans Rush To Her Defence As 'insensitive' Trolls Criticise Her... by Truevine: 08:54 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The This Morning host, 38, shared a beaming Instagram snap of herself in one of the city's signature yellow taxis from her recent trip to Manhattan on Sunday, and captioned the image: 'See you Big Apple... thank you for having me... ❤️'.
While trolls claimed she hasn't shown 'much sign of grieving', her loyal fanbase hit back at the 'insensitive' comments and encouraged the presenter to 'have fun' following her sad loss.
Earlier this week, the mother-of-three shared an emotional tribute to her grandmother as she revealed her nan had passed away, and subsequently pulled out of Tuesday's This Morning to attend her funeral.
Criticising her choice to visit New York following the tragic death of her loved one, one social media user penned: 'Why would you say thank you for having me it’s a country ha ha odd Didn’t your tea. Pass away last week thought you would not be in the mood for holidays being such a family person ???'.
Another wrote on the site: 'I agree with jacquelinerowan not much sign of grieving.'
'Well us in Ireland have respect for the dead and have a period of grieving', a third added.
However, a legion of Holly's fans strongly disagreed with their remarks as one angered user shared: 'Are you for real? FYI lots of people post thank you for having me on their posts when they’ve been there. How insensitive of you to post your reply. What business is it if yours what Hollie does or where she goes.
'Just because someone passes away, people still go on holiday, go to work, take kids to school, eat, it’s called coping and you should not judge. What gives you the right to post what you did?, not very nice thing to post at all', they added.
Another argued: 'What so she’s got to stay at home and grieve, until when exactly? It’s been a month since her Nan passed, she has got to carry on with her own life with her own children!'
A third wrote: 'Really don’t understand why you would agree, but that is your opinion. Just bear in mind though that if you think a little further and think about how many of us have experienced grief and how we all deal with it in different ways...
'Just because you see someone smiling or laughing, doesn’t mean that’s what is going on inside... I can’t understand when people post negative insensitive remarks, it makes no sense at all. We just all need to be kind.'
'Don't listen to those comments u have a lovely time yr nan would want you 2 x', one fan encouraged.
Positive comments continued to flood the TV star's Instagram account, as another said: 'Glad you're out having fun, life goes on and your nan would want you to take every opportunity life brings I'm sure.. Hope you had a fab time!❤️
'I don't think this is the right platform to be displaying one's grief, more for happy photos which this is... nobody has ANY right to judge how others grieve.'
Earlier this week, Holly shared a picture of herself with her grandmother as she informed her Instagram followers that the matriarch had died aged 90.
Alongside the sweet image, she wrote: 'Today we say goodbye for a little while to my beautiful Nan...'
The blonde added: 'Go and be with Grandad... he's been waiting for you... love you... miss you...'
Following the heartbreaking news, Holly dropped out of hosting This Morning's Tuesday edition and was replaced by Rylan Clark-Neal today, who joined Phillip Schofield to present the show.
Addressing Holly's absence, Phillip told viewers: 'Holly's not here today. Sadly her nan has passed away and today's the funeral.
'We're sending lots of love to Holly's family and especially her mum Lynne.'

Weird News / 'what Were The Police Doing?': French Government Faces Criticism by Truevine: 08:37 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Some 80 shops and businesses along the avenue were vandalised on Saturday when the protesters ran amok, with about 20 looted or torched, retailers said. Saturday's demonstrations were characterised by a sharp increase in violence after weeks of dwindling turnout.
It was the 18th consecutive weekend of demonstrations which began in mid-November as a protest against fuel price hikes but then morphed into a potent anti-government movement.
"There was a wave of violence, we're dealing with the aftermath of the chaos. We're trying to reassure all the employees and then there are those who live here, too," said Jean-Noel Reinhardt, head of the Committée Champs-Elysées, a local association with 180 members, most of them businesses.
He said residents and business owners were pushing for talks with Prime Minister Edouard Philippe "to share our exasperation and explain our complaints".
"The authorities must put an end to this situation," he insisted.
'Major social and political crisis'
Socialist mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo said she was waiting for "an explanation" from the government, declaring herself "really angry" at the "unprecedented violence".
In an interview in the Le Parisien newspaper Hidalgo added "we should be able to master a situation like the one we have just witnessed. "We are in the middle of a major social and political crisis... we can't carry on like this."
The prestigious Champs-Elysées, known for its shops, cafés and luxury boutiques, has been the focal point for the demonstrations which have often turned violent, sparking running battles between police and protesters.
On Saturday, the police appeared overrun as protesters swarmed the area, vandalising and later setting fire to Fouquet's brasserie, a favourite hangout of the rich and famous for the past century -- as well as luxury handbag store Longchamp.
Clothing outlets Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Celio were also damaged, as well as a bank, a chocolatier and several newsstands.
"Enough is enough. And this Saturday went too far!" raged Bernard Stalter, president of CMA France, a national network of chambers of trades and crafts.
Police used tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon to try repel protesters who gathered at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe war memorial, which was sacked by protesters on December 1. But for seven hours they continued to be pelted with paving stones by mostly black-clad demonstrators.
A judicial source said 200 people, including 15 minors, were being held in custody after Saturday's events. Earlier the authorities said 237 people had been arrested.
In recent weeks, the protests have dwindled in size. But the interior ministry estimated the turnout in Paris on Saturday at 10,000, out of around 32,300 nationwide.
That is a fraction of the 282,000 people that took part in the inaugural demonstrations across France on November 17, but more than the previous weekend.
President Emmanuel Macron cut short a skiing trip in the Pyrenees to return to Paris for a crisis meeting late on Saturday. After those talks he vowed to take "strong decisions" to prevent further violence.
"There are people today who try by all means... to damage the Republic by breaking, by destroying things at the risk of killing someone," Macron said.
'What were the police doing?'
Back in November Macron was caught off guard when grassroots protesters began occupying traffic roundabouts over fuel taxes. He has loosened the state's purse strings to the tune of 10 billion euros ($11.2 billion) to try to defuse the protests.
But the measures failed to quell the anger of the demonstrators, who accuse the former investment banker of being elitist and favouring the rich.
Opposition parties on Sunday took aim at the government's failure to deal with the violence on the streets. Far-right leader Marine Le Pen accused the government of shutting down far-right pressure groups while failing to deal with the ultra-left.
Meanwhile Xavier Bertrand, the president of the regional council in northern France, said the government should not be afraid "to use force and the force of law." He asked "why did the police not intervene, what instructions were given?"
Weekly newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche asked "What were the police doing? The levels of damage wrought raises questions about the effectiveness of our forces of law and order".
European parliamentarian Nadine Morano, of the right-wing Republicans party, got in a stinging blow, tweeting about Macron enjoying himself on the ski slopes while "Paris is on fire".

Sports / Fulham 1-2 Liverpool by Truevine: 08:30 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Hard, low and straight down the middle. There was nothing fancy about James Milner’s match-winning penalty, nothing fancy about the three points it secured for Liverpool, either. This was a bread and B*tter performance, the type it is said is the mark of champions.
Except it didn’t feel quite that way at times. This wasn’t so much Liverpool bravely gutsing it out, as Liverpool sluggishly letting Fulham back in.
If it wasn’t for the fact Fulham have found ways to self-sabotage all season, Liverpool would have dropped points here. So, yes, it leaves them two clear at the top of the Premier League, Manchester City having a game in hand, but that was about the only sight that would engender warm feelings of confidence in the travelling contingent.

‘Liverpool, top of the league,’ they sang. Yet the team they are holding off appear relentless, while Liverpool have been scrapping since the New Year.
Coming off the back of a difficult away fixture against Bayern Munich in midweek, Jurgen Klopp might have taken this result before the game. Whether he would have taken this performance, though, is another matter.
The huffing and puffing against a team surely destined for the Championship next season – Fulham are now 13 points off 17th-placed Burnley with a massively inferior goal difference and only seven games remaining – plus the chaos that led to Fulham’s equalising goal would be of concern to a manager fighting off any team, let alone one in the form of Manchester City.
The win displayed resilience but also Fulham’s fragility. Scott Parker is proving as unable to divert that downward path as Claudio Ranieri was.
On Sunday it was the rashness of otherwise excellent goalkeeper Sergio Rico that undid them. He had been impressive keeping Liverpool at bay for much of the game with good saves from Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson, but when Salah’s shot in the 81st minute bobbled around his area, his instinctive reaction was to wrap an arm around Sadio Mane to thwart his challenge for the loose ball.
Mane’s fall was not, in any way, natural; but he was fouled and it was enough to draw the attention of referee Craig Pawson. He pointed to the spot, Milner – on as a substitute for Adam Lallana after 72 minutes – did the honours.
It had been an eventful afternoon for Milner, who with almost his first touch, had contributed to the carnage that allowed Fulham’s goal.
There were at least three mistakes of significance in the build-up. Milner’s midfield miscue which put his defence under pressure, goalkeeper Alisson’s failure to respond to Van Dijk’s call to come and collect, then Van Dijk’s underpowered backpass header, which placed Alisson in a 50-50 with Ryan Babel.
The Fulham forward may look like a crazy Liverpool fan from the neck up, but he came very close to inflicting terrible damage on his former club.
He block tackled Alisson, won the ball, got a lucky bounce that held it up, and rolled it into the empty net. It was no more than Fulham deserved either, because Liverpool had very much allowed them to come out swinging after half-time.
Their best chance came on 68 minutes when Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa struck a shot from 20 yards that Alisson did well to save but on any number of occasions Fulham’s breaks stretched Liverpool’s back line.
Van Dijk had Aleksandar Mitrovic well in hand, as expected, but that does not mean Fulham were without threat. No matter the opposition a single goal lead is fraught with danger and it wasn’t entirely startling to see the scores level after 74 minutes.
Mane hit the bar with a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner a minute before Babel scored but, for the most part, Fulham contained Liverpool against many expectations.
Joe Bryan in particular, was in excellent form facing Salah. Yet, as has so often been the case this season, the first breach of Fulham’s defence was a serious one, which left them chasing the game. The scorer? It’s that Mane again.
And what a lovely goal it was, too. Liverpool played it out from the back, Joel Matip to Andrew Robertson, who fed the ball into Mane on the left.
He is in the form of his Liverpool career, arguably his life, right now, and brimming with confidence he went dashing down the flank, slipping the ball to Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian reached the by-line and cut it back for Mane, who had continued his run into the box. His first-time finish was the mark of a man who has now scored 11 goals in as many games in all competitions. Rico had no chance and all of Fulham’s good early work was undone.
Once Liverpool were in control they tried to take quick advantage forcing two chances almost immediately. Salah finally got free and unleashed a shot which Rico stopped but could not hold, claiming the ball at the hurried second attempt with Van Dijk lurking.
Soon after, Robertson burst through on the left and forced another fine save from Fulham’s goalkeeper. Liverpool were in charge, but without gaining sufficient distance, and the locals were quite happy with what they were seeing, even before the second half.
Babel certainly had his moments and outstripped Alexander-Arnold on the left flank – a rare aberration, the Liverpool man’s forward play and crossing was outstanding – cutting inside before finding captain Tom Cairney in a good shooting position. His finish was weak, however, and easily collected by Allison.
Fabinho was booked for a foul on Cairney just before half-time, further indication that Liverpool were not having it all their own way. Foul conditions – swirling winds, downpours and occasional hail showers – hardly helped.
At the end, victory secured, Klopp did his usual fist pumping celebration in front of the travelling fans but his comments, and those of his players, were less than triumphalist.
Liverpool’s next three matches are Tottenham and Chelsea at home, Southampton away. All winnable games but potentially troublesome opponents, too, and they will have to be better than this.
One glance at the league table shows the kind of opponents Fulham are. They find ways to lose. From here, Liverpool must find their own ways to win.

Technology Markets / Facebook Removes 1.5 Million Videos Of New Zealand Shooting by Truevine: 07:51 pm On 3 Mar 2019
In the aftermath of New Zealand ’s deadly mosque shootings,
Facebook removed more than 1.5 million videos worldwide of the massacre that live-streamed on its platform.
In an update released Saturday, company spokesperson Mia Garlick said 1.2 million of those clips were blocked before they could be posted.
That means 300,000 made it online.
Reached for comment by HuffPost, Facebook did not say exactly how long those videos were on the platform and how many times they may have been shared.
HuffPost was informed that the New Zealand government told news outlets and online platforms on Sunday that sharing any of the footage ― regardless of whether it was edited ― violates local law.
Initially, Facebook allowed videos and images of the event that didn’t show the violence if they were being used for news purposes or to condemn the attacks. But Garlick said all versions of the video will be taken down, even if they do not include graphic imagery.

In a Friday statement to HuffPost hours after the violence unfolded, Garlick said Facebook’s teams were “working around the clock to respond to reports and block content, proactively identify content which violates our standards and to support first responders and law enforcement.”
Garlick added that all of the flagged videos would be added to a database allowing the platform to detect and remove any re-uploaded copies automatically.
Facebook isn’t alone among tech companies in struggling to root out content related to the attacks. YouTube has also launched an effort to stop the spread of the footage, and Twitter has suspended the alleged gunman’s account on which he appears to have shared a 74-page manifesto detailing his hatred of Muslim immigrants.
The shooting killed at least 50 people at two separate Christchurch mosques, injuring dozens more.

Technology Markets / Amazon's v*rg*nia Headquarters Clears A Key Political Hurdle by Truevine: 07:45 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Amazon just took a large step closer to establishing a
second headquarters in v*rg*nia. The Arlington County Board has voted unanimously in favor of granting Amazon an estimated $51 million incentive package that includes $23 million in cash over 15 years as well as a $28 million, 10-year investment for infrastructure and open space. It's just a small portion of the $481 million the county has ultimately promised (95 percent of which is indirect), but it gets the process underway.
The approval came despite protests from residents and activist groups. They're concerned that Arlington and v*rg*nia are catering to a wealthy company at the expense of the community, potentially pushing out lower-income people. They've also highlighted complaints about Amazon's pay and working conditions. Amazon and its proponents have argued that the v*rg*nia location will create jobs, fuel tax revenue and spark investments in the region.
It's a small victory at a time when Amazon is facing a significant backlash. The company abandoned the New York City portion of its headquarters after facing opposition from politicians for many of the same reasons seen in v*rg*nia. The approval isn't so much a victory for the company as a relief at a time when its expansion plans aren't guaranteed to move forward.

Crime / Attack On Two Mosques Has Left 50 Dead And Another 50 Injured In Christchurch, New Zealand. by Truevine: 07:34 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Police have so far charged one man, Brenton Tarrant, with murder in connection with the rampage. Here's what we know about the suspect.
Who is Brenton Tarrant?
Police have named 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant as a suspect in a massacre that left 50 dead and 50 injured in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The devastating attack at the Masjid Al Noor Mosque and the nearby Linwood Masjid took place at around 1.40pm on Friday, March 14.
Graphic footage of the attack and manifesto were published on the Facebook account of Brenton Tarrant, whose profile has since been removed.
The author of the document described themselves as “just a regular man from a regular family” in a 74-page manifesto published online moments before the rampage.
They said their family was “working class, low income” and that he had a regular childhood “without any great issues”.
They added: “I had little interest in education. I did not attend university as I had no great interest in anything offered in the universities to study.”
Tarrant appeared to come from a loving family, who still live in Grafton, Australia, and have been reeling from the rampage.
His father Rodney — a bin collector and competitive athlete — died from an asbestos-related illness aged 49 when his son was finishing school.
In a newspaper obituary, Rodney was described as having a “very friendly, gentle nature”.
After leaving school with poor grades, Tarrant worked at Big River Gym in Grafton, New South Wales, between 2009 and 2011.
His former manager Tracey Gray said he worked hard at his personal training and never gave any hints at the horror he would be responsible for years later.
He is said to have made some money from Bitconnect, a cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin, and used those funds to set off on a seven-year trip around the world, along with inheritance from his dad.
It does not explain how this is possible, given Bitconnect was only released in 2016.
The author of manifesto describes how they'd been preparing for the attack since their trip to Europe two years ago.
During his visit to France, they'd described a town in Eastern France as a "cursed place", describing immigrants as "invaders".
Former friends have speculated Tarrant was "perhaps radicalised" while on his travels, the New Zealand Herald reports.
He is said to have posted relentlessly on a right-wing web forum where users do not need to log in and can remain anonymous.
Tarrant flashed a white power symbol while in Christchurch District Court charged with murder on March 16.
He is now reportedly being kept in solitary confinement for his own protection.
What clues did the manifesto give?
The author of the disturbing manifesto said he was inspired by Anders Breivik - the far-right terrorist who killed 69 kids of a Workers' Youth League on the island of Utøya in Norway in 2011.
In the rambling document he vowed to take revenge for the "thousands of European lives lost to terror attacks".
He also wrote: "I have read the writings of Dylan Roof and many others, but only really took true inspiration from Knight Justiciar Breivik."
The use of "Knight" is a reference to the Knight's Templar - a legion of Christian soldiers from the 12th century.
The author is understood to have filmed himself using a GoPro as he fired at worshippers in the Masjid Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch.
The names of modern terrorists , ancient military commanders and far-right symbols were scrawled on guns and magazines of ammunition before the rampage.
Three people have been arrested in the wake of the attack, but only Tarrant has so far been named.
New Zealand Commissioner of Police Mike Bush said the attack was a "very well-planned event".
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called it “one of New Zealand’s darkest days", adding: "What has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence."
The identities of the dead have not yet officially been released

(1) Girls partying away their life- Their mom are there suffering; they are there partying away their life and wasting money meant to be used to establish themselves or save up if probably they are still in school.
There again did I see this young lady. No one to pity or help her. She spent nothing less than one hundred thousand in celebrating her Birthday, those who saw the alert said her boyfriend sent one hundred and fifty thousand naira to her.
Well Birthday came and it was over. Hmm, it was time to pay her school fees but it was so unfortunate her parents didn't have any kobo to send to her because this recession has caused so many wrong for them.
What a bad situation, she collapsed when she heard what her dad said. Not because they didn't have money to send but because she just spent her school fees money for party(if she had knew it was going to be like that)
Hmm, friends advice, call your boyfriend to send money for your school fees, she called and the boy said; so your parents are poor and you are doing one big girl use the party money I sent now(he hanged up and never pick the call again)
Hmm, friends advice again, how much do you have so we can help, she said it just remaining one thousand in my account; haaa every one in the hospital looked at her and it was like they all planned it, they all left once without saying a word.
It was less than two weeks, how did she spend the rest of the money...hmm, unnecessary things. Well such is life. Stop partying away your life. Stop laying burden on your life. Stop spending your children future away. There is more to life than party every time. That money can be used for so many things. Just imagine if this lady had kept the money. She won't end up in the hospital.
Lets be wise in our dealing because we do not know what tomorrow will bring forth for us.
(2) After wedding- be wise in the way of the LORD. You spent almost two million doing party(money given to you by Boss because of your good attitude towards work and colleague too raised money for you) After wedding(that same night )you have nothing to eat....is a neighbour that gave you five hundred naira to buy akara and Bread with your wife(you are saying you don't want your old friends look down on you. What a burden. The lady was just cursing the man. Why the burden now. Friends will go and its just a day. Be wise and stop the burden.

This time of recession is a time to learn so many things about people and see the burden laid on men(human being)
(1) Girls cutting hair- It's like I'm just noticing it, everyone around is cutting their hair, (what's the problem? I began to ask myself)
I met a beautiful woman who has a very long hair but has cut it off, I won't let this woman go without asking her I said to myself. Politely I asked, "Why did you cut your hair, she said her husband told her to, I asked why but she smiled and I understood that the smile means I'm not telling you, so I left her.
Fortunately I met a young lady too, I asked her why she had to cut her hair and she simply said "my boyfriend said I will look good and younger if I cut it" so I left her too but I guess her conscience didn't let her rest after talking to me so she called me back and said she lied to me and she gave me so many reasons(relaxer expensive, making of hair expensive etc)hmm, I was excited hearing that and I said thanks.
What a burden men(human) has laid on themselves, instead of cutting your hair, you can Just make your hair natural, just has it ought to be the amount of money you will spend making it weekly can't be compared to what you do use to fix the artifical hair.
I met someone who asked for the price of my hair and I said #200. He said, You are coming to my house this weekend to see my wife;I said why, he said she collect nothing less than #4000 to #5000 to make her hair and the annoying part is that if she get home and feels she inconvenient with the hair, she will just pull it off(what a waste)(I met with this woman and we got talking and sincerely if one should see what she uses her hair to plait, one will really love)(I love you so much ma for listening and seeing the benefits afterwards
Why don't you save this money for the benefits of the children's future(all can't go on well for life like it seems today) you are not married you say(I learnt this from my mum, she said, she Prayed for her unborn children even when she was not married) we can also apply this by saving up money for the unseen future.
(2) Girls facial look- well should I say you just need to free yourself from some burden. There again did I see a beautiful lady I use to know look like a widow(why now, I asked her what's wrong with you, I could not hide my feelings because that look was out of it. Then she said I don't have money for make up, I said but you will have at least cream your face, she said my cream worth........and I don't have money to get it. What a burden when you can't balance up your life during the good and bad times of life.
There again did I hear about this pretty lady, she said 'i don't have money with me, Please can I get any amount from you to buy food stuff " well her friend was about giving her money when she said, Please escort me to that store, I want to get something, she got there and bought a lot of make up, the lady who escorted her said, why don't you use the money you used to buy all these to buy food stuff then this funny lady replied; if its the money that is left for me to eat that its with me and my make up has finished, I prefer to buy make up than food stuff (Hmmm) Then she said, what of the money you want to give me, the lady told her its better you return all this rubbish and buy food because I won't give you a kobo. Well she taught her friend was joking until her friend went to her room and closed her door.
Then I imagined , when this type of lady gets married. Her children her crying for food. The woman comes with make up and says I only have money for make up and not for food, let your father come back(I don't know what the children will think or do at that point) Well I pray she will change before then.
"Why the burden"

You don't need to twist the BIBLE to suit your
life. (I'm a christian but I just went out to play
with SIN for a while-bro/sis you are not a
christian)
A christian is centred on one thing and that is the
path of righteousness(Romans 2 vs 13)
Its either you are with christ or you dine with the
devil.
A christian is someone who lives like christ; once
your life isn't speaking christ you are out of the
line(Glading doing the will of the devil- John 8 vs
42-47
(1) 1st John 1 vs 5-7- THIS IS THE MESSAGE
WE HAVE HEARD FROM HIM AND DECLARE TO
YOU: GOD IS LIGHT; IN HIM THERE IS NO
DARKNESS AT ALL. IF WE CLAIM TO HAVE
FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM YET WALK IN THE
DARKNESS WE LIE AND DO NOT LIVE BY THE
TRUTH. BUT IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT,AS HE IS
IN THE LIGHT, WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE
ANOTHER, AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS, HIS SON,
PURIFIES US FROM ALL SINS.
(2) 1st John 5 vs 18- WE KNOW THAT ANYONE
BORN OF GOD DOES NOT CONTINUE TO SIN, THE
ONE WHO WAS BORN OF GOD KEEPS HIM SAFE,
AND THE EVIL ONE CANNOT HARM HIM
(3) 1st John 3 vs 8-9- HE WHO DOES WHAT IS
SINFUL IS OF THE DEVIL, BECAUSE THE DEVIL
HAS BEEN SINNING FROM THE BEGINNING. THE
REASON THE SON OF GOD APPEARED WAS TO
DESTROY THE DEVIL's WORK. NO ONE WHO IS
BORN OF GOD WILL CONTINUE TO SIN ,
BECAUSE GOD'S SEED REMAINS IN HIM; HE
CANNOT GO ON SINNING BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN
BORN OF GOD
(4) Matthew 5 vs 48- BE PERFECT THEREFORE,
AS YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS PERFECT.
(5) 1st Peter 1 vs 15-16- BUT JUST AS HE WHO
CALLED YOU IS HOLY, SO BE HOLY IN ALL YOU
DO; FOR IT IS WRITTEN: "BE HOLY, BECAUSE I
AM HOLY "
(5) Ephesians 5 vs 6-7- LET NO ONE DECEIVE
YOU WITH EMPTY WORDS , FOR BECAUSE OF
SUCH THINGS GOD'S WRATH COMES ON THOSE
WHO ARE DISOBEDIENT. THEREFORE DO NOT BE
PARTNERS WITH THEM.
(6) MATTHEW 24 vs 13- BUT HE WHO STANDS
FIRM TO THE END WILL BE SAVED.
In conclusion- It only takes total submission and
obedience to walk with God.
BUT HE SAID TO ME, "MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT
FOR YOU".........MAY THE GRACE OF THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST, AND THE LOVE OF GOD ,AND
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLYSPIRIT BE WITH
YOU ALL. 1st Corinthians 12 vs 9 and 13 vs 14.

Religion / The Human Mind by Truevine: 05:37 pm On 3 Mar 2019
The human mind is so deep and wide that no one can understand(1st Corinthians 2 vs 11- FOR WHO AMONG MEN KNOWS THE THOUGHTS OF A MAN EXCEPT THE MAN's SPIRIT WITHIN HIM? IN THE SAME WAY NO-ONE KNOWS THE THOUGHT OF GOD EXCEPT THE SPIRIT OF GOD.)
A brother posted prayers and within some minutes thousands have comments. He did this for many months and people comments the usual way (AMEN) He was so happy that he has so many likes and comments always. One day he decided to ask a question(BIBLE question) but to his shock 'nine likes' no comment, he decided to post prayers again and not up to a minutes, he got so many likes again. He asked another question but just 'four likes' and one person answered his question
I was thinking of what could be wrong and this verse came to my mind- ISAIAH 29 vs 8- THE LORD SAYS: THESE PEOPLE COME NEAR TO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH HONOUR ME WITH THEIR LIPS,BUT THEIR HEARTS ARE FAR FROM ME(Matthew 15 vs 8)
Everyone want to be blessed, but do you work in accordance to his will to have what is yours.
(someone said 'when you walk with God he will be controlling you and he won't allow you make your own decision', please if God doesn't control you, then who will(the devil)
It is better to walk with GOD than walk with the devil where the latter end is "hell"
In conclusion-Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favour from the LORD. But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.Proverbs 8 vs 32-36

The Bible says- Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,an undeserved curse does not come to rest.Proverbs 26 vs 2.When there is a curse in a family and the people of such family is the devil friend- John 8 vs 42-47- the devil doesnt need permission before the curse start taking effect in their life, when the situation of the country is also involve, they complain like others, not knowing their life is not meant to be like that, the fortunate ones who sees how things are going in the family and how same incident occurs in the homes are those whose life becomes outstanding because they Know God.Things will never change until such families know who God is.
In families who are meant excel but they dining with the devil comfortably has made it impossible, you are already enhancing the work of the devil by enjoying with him-1st John 3 vs 7-9,before such people realise they are the source of their problem, they will have gone far into the world because the devil will have blind folded their eyes and will make irrelevant things (like situation of the country)to confuse them that they cant excel meanwhile, they are meant to be King anywhere they are.No matter how worst the country might be those who will be extraordinary blessed will be blessed by God-Isaiah 3 vs 10.
Do not enhance the curse in your family to come to pass in your life by sitting comfortably and dining with the devil.Break the yoke by doing what others have not been able to do in your family with the help of God.At the points you swim in sin and feel happy about it,when others are making it,you still feel having a job is too difficult, you join others in complaining of the situation when your own case has nothing to do with the situation but just to take a step by knowing who God is,is all you need to excel in life, so you know now that you are the source of that problem, until you decide to break the yoke that's when you will see that breakthrough that no one has seen for years.Dont give the devil the chance to rejoice over your life by enhancing the work of devil in your life because of the sins present in your life-1John 3 vs 9. John 8 vs 42-47.Stop been the source of that problem, stop calling on witches or wizard when you are the main source of your problem because you are yet to give your life to Christ.
I remembered one title 'Dont insult' when he thought the witches were against him but they were not, his insult to a man blocked his way of progress, the devil will use you once you are available to destroy what he has planned concerning you by allowing you to do them willingly without seeing fault in them while you think you are enjoying but you arent, you are only endangering your life because is you that will suffer it all while the devil mocks you.
Break the yoke. Break the protocol. You are born great, dont let the devil make your life stagnant by enhancing it yourself.
Dont join this set of people has the Bible states in Proverbs 19 vs 3-A man's folly(foolishness) ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
In conclusion- Stop been the source of that problem. Leave your sinful life and come to Jesus-Romans 10 vs 9-10

Crime / Shocking Moment Burglars Posing As Police Stage Fake Raid And Smash Into North London Home. by Truevine: 01:30 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Dressed as police officers, this is the shocking moment a group of burglars force their way into a home before carrying out a vicious raid on the occupants.

In horrific video footage released by the Metropolitan Police today, a gang of four men can be seen preparing for the raid which took place in Edgware, north London on August 10 last year.
And at 7.20pm they burst into the property shouting 'police' as they enter before threatening the victims inside with weapons.
Soon after they enter another victim approaches the property before he is sprayed in the face with an unknown substance, according to the force.
The burglars then punch and kick the man before he is taken upstairs and put with the other victims.
They then carry out an untidy search of the premises before fleeing in the same vehicle they arrived in.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'The second victim was taken to a north London hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries were not life-threatening.
'The suspects are described as black males who were wearing dark clothing. One of the suspects was wearing a hi-vis jacket.
'No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue'.
The Metropolitan Police today released video footage of the shock incident in the hopes it will encourage people with information to come forward.
The footage shows both the moment the burglars enter the property, and the moment they tackle one of the occupants to the ground.
If you can help the police you are asked to call 101 quoting crime reference number 6449/10AUG.
Alternatively Information can also be reported to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

World Politics / Okorocha Warns: Withholding My Certificate Of Return Can Cause Tension by Truevine: 01:06 pm On 3 Mar 2019
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has warned that INEC’s withholding of his certificate of return has the capacity to fuel tension in the state.
Okorocha, who reacted to his exclusion from those to receive certificate of return, said the move was based on allegation without hearing his own side of the story is unjust.
INEC had earlier released names of those to be given the certificate of return.
In the list of Senators-elect, there were 109 slots, however, Okorocha’s name was omitted following claims by the returning officer of Imo west senatorial district election Professor Innocent Ibeabuchi, that the results for the district and the declaration that followed were pronounced under duress.
Okorocha, however, said that the action by INEC was an insult to his person and a mockery of Nigeria’s fledgling democracy, Channels Tv reports.
Addressing some youths at the government house in Owerri the Imo state capital, Okorocha alleged that he was aware that INEC had colluded with some of his political enemies to deny him his mandate.
The governor appealed to INEC to do the needful and uphold his mandate and present him his Certificate of Return.

Sports / Federer, Nadal, Steam Into Indian Wells Quarter-finals by Truevine: 10:00 am On 3 Mar 2019
Former champions Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal edged closer to a blockbuster semi-final showdown at the ATP Indian Wells Masters on Wednesday with brisk fourth-round wins.
World number two Nadal overpowered Serbian qualifier Filip Krajinovic 6-3, 6-4 to book his quarter-final berth in one hour and 26 minutes.
Federer, seeking a record sixth title in the California desert, needed just 64 minutes to get past Britain's Kyle Edmund 6-1, 6-4.
Nadal said his performance on a windy stadium court wasn't as good as his 6-3, 6-1 third-round win over Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
But he was more than a match for 113th-ranked Krajinovic, breaking him early in each set and saving the only break point he faced.
Nadal, who lifted the Indian Wells trophy in 2007, 2008 and 2013, is in the last eight for the first time in three years after missing last year's edition, skipping both Indian Wells and the Miami Masters with a hip injury.
He next will take on 13th-ranked Russian Karen Khachanov, who beat world number nine John Isner 6-4, 7-6 (7/1).
Khachanov produced just one ace to the big-serving American's 12 but stretched his record over Isner to 4-0.
Fourth-seeded Federer, fresh off his 100th career title, looked poised to finish off Edmund in less than an hour.
But the Swiss great had to fight off three break points as he served for the match, just a small speed bump in a match that he took charge of early.
"He didn't have the best start, so that cost him the first set," Federer said. "Second set, it was definitely better. I think he probably struggled throughout a little bit. He never really got going.
"Conditions are tough with the glare, and the jump of the ball it's sometimes hard to find the rhythm and timing."
Federer will fight for a semi-final berth against 22-year-old Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
Hurkacz, ranked 67th in the world, sent 25th-ranked Canadian Denis Shapovalov packing 7-6 (7/3), 2-6, 6-3.
Although he'll be an overwhelming favorite against Hurkacz, Federer said he wouldn't take a semi-final meeting with Nadal for granted.
"I hope I can get there," Federer said, "but I'm not going to underestimate Hubert."
- Kecmanovic capitalizes -
A day after world number one Novak Djokovic tumbled out of the third round, 19-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic kept the Serbian flag flying.
Kecmanovic became the first lucky loser to reach the last eight at Indian Wells since the ATP's Masters 1000 series launched in 1990.
Kecmanovic, ranked 130th in the world, had taken the first set against Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4 when the 74th-ranked Japanese retired because of injury.
Kecmanovic, who gained entry to the second round when fifth-seeded Kevin Anderson withdrew with an elbow injury, is in his first ATP quarter-final.
Kecmanovic is the last teen left in the men's draw, after the departure of 19-year-old Shapovalov.
At the other end of the age spectrum, 40-year-old Croatian Ivo Karlovic's run came to an end with a 6-4, 6-3 loss to 25-year-old seventh seed Dominic Thiem.
Thiem needed less than an hour to subdue the 89th-ranked Karlovic, surrendering just seven points on his own serve and punishing Karlovic's second serve.
Thiem said putting 87 percent of his first serves in play was key in his first meeting with Karlovic.
"I felt pretty confident on my own service games. That's what I transferred also to the return games," he said. "I made two breaks in the right moment I would say."
Thiem will next face either 18th-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils or unseeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber, who stunned world number one Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday.

Business/Investments / Warning: Whatsapp Banning Accounts Of Subscribers Using Unsupported Versions by Truevine: 09:39 am On 3 Mar 2019
Dubai: WhatsApp subscribers who are using the unsupported version of the app will have their accounts banned, the messaging service provider has warned.
Users have been advised that those who have downloaded instant chat platforms such as WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp are using altered versions of the original app.
These have been developed by third parties that are not connected to the Facebook-owned company, hence, their security practices can’t be validated by WhatsApp. And if you’re using one of these, your account is likely to get deactivated soon.
“If you received an in-app message stating your account is ‘temporarily banned,’ this means that you’re likely using an unsupported version of WhatsApp instead of the official WhatsApp app,” the company wrote in a post this week.
The messaging platform has already banned millions of users worldwide for a number of reasons, such as misusing the chat app or spreading fake news and other forms of misinformation.
The number of banned accounts are likely to increase, with the latest move to filter out users subscribed to the unofficial apps.
If you’re one of them, you can continue using the app, provided you ditch the altered version and download the official one, but you need to save your chat history before you proceed.
The messaging provider has provided the following tips on how to switch to the official WhatsApp app:
For GB WhatsApp users:
1. Wait for your temporary ban to end. The timer will show you the length of the ban.
2. In GB WhatsApp, tap More options > Chats > Back up chats .
3. Go to Phone Settings > tap Storage > Files.
4. Find the folder GB WhatsApp, and tap and hold to select it.
5. In the upper right corner tap More > Rename and rename the folder to “WhatsApp”.
6. Navigate to the Play Store and download the official WhatsApp app.
7. In WhatsApp, verify your phone number.
8. On the Backup found screen, tap Restore > Next .
9. WhatsApp should load with your existing chats.
WhatsApp Plus
If your chat history was previously saved, it should automatically transfer to the official WhatsApp app.
Navigate to the Play Store and download the WhatsApp app.
Verify your phone number.
