dave91:Jesus only promises eternal life to those prepared to forsake all natural relationships.
Paul maintains that Abraham is the father of believers. He says: “(Abraham) received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe.” (Romans 4:11). “Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.” (Romans 4:16).
However, Isaiah says: “But now, O Lord, you are our Father.” (Isaiah 64:8). Jesus confirms Isaiah’s position by insisting that his followers have only one Father and only one family and this has absolutely nothing to do with Abraham. He says: “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, he who is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9).
Children of God
The Jews see their link to “father Abraham” as their guarantee of salvation. However, rather than guarantee their salvation, their link to Abraham impeded it. The salvation that Jesus preaches comes through God becoming the Father of sons of men.
Even in the Old Testament, God says: “You shall call me, ‘my Father.’” (Jeremiah 3:19). Now in the New Testament, John says: “As many as received (Jesus), to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13).
Children of God are required to relinquish their earthly fathers in preference for the heavenly Father. However, the Jewish insistence on being the children of Abraham ensured that they could not become children of God.
Everlasting Father
God does not change. He is the same: “yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8-9).
We did not know this but God has been our dwelling-place “in all generations;” “even from everlasting to everlasting.” (Psalm 90:1-2). He has also been our Father from everlasting:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called …. Everlasting Father.” (Isaiah 9:6).
Isaiah knew by revelation that Abraham could not be the Father of Israel. He says to God: “Doubtless you are our Father, though Abraham was ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Lord, are our Father; our Redeemer from Everlasting is your name.” (Isaiah 63:16).
Jesus came to reveal this everlasting name of God to us. At the end of his ministry, he told God he had fulfilled this purpose: “I have manifested your name to the men whom you have given me out of the world.” (John 17:6). “I have declared to them your name, and will declare it, that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:26).
What is this name of God that Jesus manifested to us and what is the significance of this name? The name Jesus came to declare is “Father.” He reveals to us that God is not distant, foreign and fearsome, as we presume; but that he is actually our Father; close intimate and loving. Therefore, he says: “When you pray, say: our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” (Luke 11:2).
What name of God are we now required to hallow? We are required to hallow the name “Father.” It must now be of exclusive application to God and to God alone. Jesus says: “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, he who is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9).
Don’t call any man on earth by the name of God.
Joseph
When he was only twelve years old, Jesus went with his parents to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. But on returning back home, they discovered he had not returned with them. After what must have been an agonising three-day search, they finally found him in the temple, engaged in discussion with the teachers of the law. His mother said to him: “Son, why have you done this to us? Look, your father and I have sought you anxiously.” (Luke 2:48).
However, Jesus is unrepentant. “He says to them, “Why did you seek me? “Don’t you know I must be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49). The father Jesus is talking about here can certainly not be father Joseph because the temple is not Joseph’s house but the house of God. In effect, Jesus refuses to acknowledge Joseph as his father. He has no other father but God.
David
The Jews believed the Messiah would be the son of David. However, Jesus, the Messiah, denies he is the son of David. Instead, he maintains the Messiah could never be David’s son:
Only the wise serves God
“While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, saying, ‘What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?’ They said to him, ‘The son of David.’ He said to them, ‘How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool’’? ‘If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?” (Matthew 22:41-45).
But if the Messiah is not the son of David, then whose son is he? He has no other father but God.
Abraham
Jesus also denies to the Jews that he is a son of Abraham. He refers to Abraham with abstraction as “your” father: “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day.” (John 8:56). Moreover, he insists he is actually older than Abraham and therefore, Abraham cannot be his father: “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58).
Jesus made these denials in order to make one of the most radical and revolutionary claims of all. He declared that God was his Father, making him the Son of God: “I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30).
No man had ever made such a claim before and the Jews were extremely outraged by it: “The Jews sought all the more to kill (Jesus), because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.” (John 5:18).
Price of eternal life
10 years childlessness: I was accused of using my wife for ‘juju’— Idah Peterside
The life eternal that Jesus gives comes with conditions. One major condition is that the recipient of eternal life must forsake his father, among others. Jesus says: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26).
Jesus only promises eternal life to those prepared to forsake all natural relationships: “Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29).
By implication, anyone who is not prepared to fulfil this condition will not inherit eternal life. The heir of salvation must have no other father but God.

World Politics / Re: Ekiti Government To Arrest Parents Of Pupils Hawking During School Hours by lokoso: 08:00 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Preshemeka600:The Ekiti Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, says the state will henceforth arrest parents of pupils found hawking during school hours.
The governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, made this known on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.

The governor gave the warning while meeting with stakeholders in the education sector at the weekend.

The governor asked parents to take advantage of the free education policy of his administration to reduce the number of out-of-school children.

Fayemi said all hands must be on deck to checkmate the declining school enrolment in the state regarded as ‘Fountain of Knowledge’.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Fayemi had, shortly after his inauguration in October 2018, declared free education from primary to senior secondary schools in the state.

He also abolished all education levies and the education tax introduced by the immediate past administration in the state.

At the meeting, Fayemi said that many parents were yet to take full advantage of the free and qualitative education policy of the administration.

He noted that part of the responsibilities of government was to ensure that children and youth who were the future of the nation, were properly groomed through qualitative education that would prepare them for the future.

The governor said the current school enrolment rate of 55 per cent as against 96 per cent recorded in 2014 was unacceptable to his government, adding that something must be done urgently to reverse the ugly trend.

He said that the state government had started compiling records of retired teachers with a view to determining available vacancies in the teaching service and how to fill them.

Fayemi also added that the present administration would soon commence recruitment of competent and qualified teachers who would help to raise the standard of education in the state.

He also disclosed that the administration had commenced the process of returning mission schools to their original owners, but stressed that government would continue to monitor them to ensure that the schools do not decline in standards.

World Politics / Re: Suspension Of Onnoghen Aimed At Fast Tracking Fight Against Corruption, Says Bmo by lokoso: 04:49 am On 1 Jan 2019
The whole cjn nah wao

World Politics / Re: Suspension Of Onnoghen Aimed At Fast Tracking Fight Against Corruption, Says Bmo by lokoso: 04:48 am On 1 Jan 2019
Truevine:The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) said on
Saturday that the decision of
President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend the
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen,
signifies a conscious shift of policy to fast track
the fight against corruption in the country.
It said the suspended CJN had built a hedge
around himself to continue in office in spite of his
written admission of hiding several domiciliary
accounts with suspicious lodgements of funds
believed to be proceeds of corruption.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Niyi
Akinsiju and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, BMO
said that President Buhari had no alternative but
to respect a valid suspension order issued by the
Code of Conduct Tribunal pending final
determination of the case against Justice
Onnoghen.
It said further that “Resignation was the only
meaningful option for the suspended Chief
Justice. He is indeed, a confessed felon after
claiming in one breadth to have made a mistake
and also forgot to have properly declared his
assets in line with provisions of the Code of
Conduct Bureau for public officials when
confronted by investigators.
“Just like the President said in his speech at the
swearing in of the Acting CJN, someone with a
moral authority so wounded by serious charges of
corruption by his own written admission ought to
have stepped down on his own volition.
“But in the character of tainted high office holders
in Nigeria, Justice Onnoghen preferred to lash on
to the rigmarole of legal technicalities as well as
a desperately shallow opposition party that is on
the lookout for anything to use to cast aspersions
on President Buhari and the All Progressives
Congress (APC) to shore up its flagging campaign
and an apparent failed effort to market a
presidential candidate with questionable moral
standing.
“The suspended CJN forgot, as usual, that he
once ruled on a case in his capacity of a Supreme
Court judge that the Code of Conduct Tribunal
has the exclusive jurisdiction to deal with any
violation of provisions of the Code of Conduct
Bureau notwithstanding the status of the public
officer in question.”
The group maintained that the CJN’s suspension
was in line with the President’s vow to respect
the rule of law as demonstrated in this case by
the order issued by the Tribunal on January 23.
It said: “President Buhari’s action cannot be said
to be unilateral because it was based on the
order of a duly constituted tribunal and it will
pave way for the case against the suspended CJN
to be heard on merit rather than a situation
where it would be stalled by unnecessary judicial
subterfuge which are associated with high profile
cases in Nigeria.
“We consider the indefinite postponement of the
statutory meeting of the Nigerian Judicial Council
NJC by Justice Onnoghen as one of those
unbridled manipulation of the judicial process.
The postponement of the NJC meeting is a
brazen abuse of office by Justice Onnoghen to
prevent the other members of the Council from
intervening in the Asset Declaration scandal
which may either lead to his being suspended or
being asked to recuse himself while the other
members take a second look at the implication of
the grave corruption allegation hanging on the
head of the country’s judiciary.
“So, from whichever angle one looks at it, it
would be difficult to fault the President’s action
with all the facts at his disposal as well as the
CCT suspension order”
While asking Nigerians to rally around the
President at this critical time and ignore attempts
by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) and its Presidential candidate to obfuscate
the issue with a view to scoring political points, it
said “no one should be surprised that Atiku and
his corruption-loving party would jump into the
fray in a public show of defence of the suspended
Chief Justice as it is in line with their tendencies
to defend the worst forms of value erosion that
continue to assail our national sensitivity in
recent times. It tells you all you need to know
about a Presidential candidate that has vowed to
enrich his friends obviously through corrupt
means if (God forbids) he becomes President.
“But there is no way President Buhari, with his
disdain for corrupt acts, would pretend that all is
well in a situation where the head of the nation’s
judiciary would have undeclared sums of money
running into millions of dollars in accounts hidden
from public scrutiny.
“We urge Nigerians across divides to show
support and solidarity with the President in his
bid to fast track the fight against corruption no
matter whose ox is gored”.

Truevine:We all need to be guided by the words of God and
what we hear. Scripture can be well said but
interpreted wrongly. Scriptures can be well said
but used in a wrong way to confuse people. Dont
be partakers with those who live by rules taught
by men- Isaiah 29 vs 13
When the Holyspirit is absent in a man's
life, anybody can walk into such life to quote the
scriptures wrongly and such people will accept
because the Spirit of God is missing in their life.
Jesus knew the scriptures likewise the devil also
knew the scriptures. In Matthew 4 vs 3(The devil
said-"If you are the Son of GOD,tell these stones
to become bread." in vs 4- Jesus answered, "It is
written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on
every word that comes from thr mouth of God."-
The devil knew Jesus had the ability to do that
but Jesus used the word of God against him
because those words were used to test him.
Note that the devil quoted the scripture exactly
has it is written but because Jesus also knew the
scripture and it was impossible for him to subject
to the wrong way the devil quoted the scriptures.
The devil quoted the scripture rightly but with an
evil motive to destroy you. Are people not doing
the same to you. They tell you the Bible says this
with an evil mind to bring him down.
Philippians 2 vs 5 says- Your attitude should be
the same as that of Christ Jesus(including
knowing, understanding and making use of the
scripture) We all need the Holy Spirit in our life to
interpret, teach and remind us everything (John
14 vs 26)
Many people who knows the scriptures(by heart
but the Spirit is missing) had also fallen because
some people quote the scripture in a wrong way
to them and because they too can't see beyond it
they become subject to what they tell them. Do
not let anyone quote scriptures or interpret
scriptures in a wrong way to you. The Spirit of
God is one,God is one(Ephesians 4 vs 4-6)when
you have the Holy Spirit in you,he gives you the
interpretation of what you read. Don't live by the
rules taught by men, read your scriptures daily
(Joshua 1 vs 8)Don't let anyone quote what is
not for you. Stop living by words which are
wrongly quoted at a point to you with different
interpretation. Also be like the Bereans, who
didn't say all what Paul told them must be true
because he claim to be an Apostle, they checked
the scripture daily to see if what they were taught
was inline with GOD's word(Acts 17 vs 11) Don't
say because he is famous so he can't quote or
interpret wrongly remember the Old prophet who
lied to his fellow prophet, the young prophet
thought his words were true and he followed him
home but that day was his last day on earth.
(1Kings 13) Read your Bible daily so you know
what it says. Make use of Proverbs 28 vs 13. You
need God to guide you by giving your life to him.
Romans 10 vs 9-10 Anything done outside the
circle of God is empty. You need him to guide you
through all paths. John 14 vs 26, Philippians 2 vs
13,Proverbs 16 vs 9,Proverbs 20 vs 24.
(John 12 vs 49-50)
I call you BLESSED.

Postsmania General / Re: 33 Senators To Work On 2019 Budget During Elections by lokoso: 07:20 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Nelsonenan:As the National Assembly members prepare to resume from their Yuletide break on Wednesday, there are indications that only 33 senators will be available to work on the federal budget of N8.83tn for the 2019 fiscal year presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 19, 2018.

It was learnt on Saturday that while 74 senators, who secured their parties’ tickets to contest this year’s general elections would relocate to their various constituencies to prepare for the polls, 33 senators, who lost their bid to return to the red chamber, would stay back to treat the budget.

The National Assembly members cannot resume on Tuesday, January 15, because of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations in which the two presiding officers of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki (Senate president) and Yakubu Dogara (Speaker of the House of Representatives), are expected to be actively involved.

The federal parliamentarians are expected to adjourn plenary after five sittings. Our correspondent gathered that they would hold a plenary on Wednesday, January 16, and Thursday, January 17, before adjourning till Tuesday, January 22.

Upon resumption on January 22, the lawmakers would sit on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before proceeding on a three-week adjournment to enable most of them to participate actively in their re-election campaigns.

No fewer than 66 senators actually secured return tickets to contest the National Assembly polls in February.

While some are contesting the governorship election in their various states, only the 33 members, who lost their return bid, according to sources close to the Senate leadership, will stay back to work on the budget.

A principal officer of the Senate on condition of anonymity that his colleagues, who would not be vying for re-election, would take charge of the budget defence sessions with the ministries, departments and agencies of government.

The Senate official stated, “We would sit for five days on resumption and adjourn plenary for three weeks. Since we are not closing down other legislative activities, our colleagues, who are not contesting elections, will carry on with the budget.

“On the legislative activities on resumption next week, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, will read a comprehensive speech on Wednesday and he will speak on the general elections and the insecurity in the country.

“There will be a point of order on the clampdown on opposition lawmakers in the National Assembly and there will possibly be a resolution whereby a strong message would be passed to the President and the security agencies.

“Discussions on the general principles on the budget may start on the first day of resumption or on the second day. We will spend the five plenary sessions to discuss the general principles on the budget and the Minimum Wage (amendments) Bill that we are expecting from the President on January 23.

“We will definitely deliberate on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper and approve it because it is the benchmark for the budget proposals. We will, no doubt, start work on the 2019 national budget because our colleagues, who are not contesting elections, would stay back to do justice to it.”

Attempts to speak with the spokesperson for the Senate, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, for the official agenda of the chamber on resumption failed on Friday.

Calls made to the senator’s mobile did not connect while he had yet to respond to the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

However, a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, said a serious consideration would be given to the budget upon resumption after elections in March.

He said, “We would come back immediately after the elections and give it (budget) a serious consideration. Members of the Appropriation may have to do a rigorous work to achieve speedy passage of the bill.

“What I can guarantee is that we would be able to conclude discussions on the general principles between the period of our resumption and the elections.”

The Chairman Senate committee on local and foreign debts, Senator Shehu Sani, also said, “We would discuss the general principles of the budget before we adjourn for the elections.”

Good answer our prayer ooo

Religion / Re: Does God Answer Our Prayers? Prayer. How Does Prayer Work? Find Out What God Will Answer... by lokoso: 07:18 pm On 1 Jan 2019
Glory2019:Have you ever
known
someone who
really trusts
God? When I
was an
atheist, I had a
good friend
who prayed
often. She would tell me every week about
something she was trusting God to take care
of. And every week I would see God do
something unusual to answer her prayer. Do
you know how difficult it is for an atheist to
observe this week after week? After a while,
"coincidence" begins to sound like a very
weak argument.
So why would God answer my friend's
prayers? The biggest reason is that she had a
relationship with God. She wanted to follow
God. And she actually listened to what he
said. In her mind, God had the right to direct
her in life, and she welcomed him doing just
that! When she prayed for things, it was a
natural part of her relationship with God. She
felt very comfortable coming to God with her
needs, her concerns, and whatever issues
were current in her life. Furthermore, she was
convinced, from what she read in the Bible,
that God wanted her to rely on him like that.
She pretty much exhibited what this
statement from the Bible says, "This is the
confidence we have in approaching God: that
if we ask anything according to his will, he
hears us." 1 "For the eyes of the Lord are on
the righteous and his ears are attentive to
their prayer..." 2
So, Why Doesn't God Answer Everyone's
Prayers?
It may be because they don't have a
relationship with God. They may know that
God exists, and they might even worship God
from time to time. But those who never seem
to have their prayers answered probably don't
have a relationship with him. Further, they
have never received from God complete
forgiveness for their sin. What does that have
to do with it you ask? Here is an explanation.
"Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to
save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your
iniquities have separated you from your God.
Your sins have hidden his face from you, so
that he will not hear." 3
It's pretty natural to feel that separation from
God. When people begin to ask God for
something, what usually takes place? They
begin with, "God, I really need your help with
this problem..." And then there's a pause,
followed by a restart... "I realize that I'm not a
perfect person, that I actually have no right to
ask you for this..." There's an awareness of
personal sin and failure. And the person
knows that it's not just them; that God is
aware of it too. There's a feeling of, "Who am
I kidding?" What they may not know is how
they can receive God's forgiveness for all their
sin. They might not know that they can come
into a relationship with God so that God will
hear them. This is the foundation for God
answering your prayer.
How Does Prayer Work?
You must first begin a relationship with God.
Here's why. Imagine that a guy named Mike
asks the president of Princeton University to
co-sign a car loan for him. If Mike doesn't
personally know the president of Princeton,
that car loan is not going to happen. Yet, if
the daughter of this president asked her dad
to co-sign a car loan for her, it would be no
problem. Relationship matters.
With God, when the person is actually a child
of God, when the person belongs to God, he
knows them and hears their prayers. Jesus
said, "I am the good shepherd. I know my
sheep and my sheep know me...my sheep
listen to my voice. I know them and they
follow me. I give them eternal life and they
shall never perish; no one can snatch them
out of my hand." 4
When it comes to God then, do you really
know him and does he know you? Do you have
a relationship with him that warrants God
answering your prayers? Or is God pretty
distant, pretty much just a concept in your
life? If God is distant, or you're not sure that
you know God, here is how you can begin a
relationship with him right now: Getting
Connected.
Will God Definitely Answer Your Prayer?
For those who do know him and rely on him,
Jesus seems to be wildly generous in his
offer: "If you remain in me and my words
remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it
will be given you." 5 To "remain" in him and
have his words remain in them means they
conduct their lives aware of him, relying on
him, listening to what he says. Then they're
able to ask him whatever they want. Here is
another qualifier: "This is the confidence we
have in approaching God: that if we ask
anything according to his will, he hears us.
And if we know that he hears us -- whatever
we ask -- we know that we have what we
asked of him." 6 God answers our prayers
according to his will (and according to his
wisdom, his love for us, his holiness, etc.).
Where we trip up is assuming we know God's
will, because a certain thing makes sense to
us! We assume that there is only one right
"answer" to a specific prayer, assuming
certainly THAT would be God's will. And this is
where it gets tough. We live within the limits
of time and limits of knowledge. We have only
limited information about a situation and the
implications of future action on that situation.
God's understanding is unlimited. How an
event plays out in the course of life or history
is only something he knows. And he may have
purposes far beyond what we could even
imagine. So, God is not going to do something
simply because we determine that it must be
his will.
What Does It Take? What is God Inclined to
Do?
Pages and pages could be filled about God's
intentions toward us. The entire Bible is a
description of the kind of relationship God
wants us to experience with him and the kind
of life he wants to give us. Here are just a
few examples:
"...the Lord longs to be gracious to you. He
rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is
a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for
[trust] him!" 7 Did you catch that? Like
someone rising out of his chair to come to
your help, "He rises to show you compassion."
"As for God, his way is perfect...He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him." 8 "The Lord
delights in those who fear [reverence] him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love." 9
However, God's greatest display of his love
and commitment to you is this: Jesus said,
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay
down his life for his friends," 10 which is what
Jesus did for us. And so, "If God is for us,
who can ever be against us? Since God did
not spare even his own Son but gave him up
for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also
give us everything else?" 11
What about "Unanswered" Prayer?
Certainly people get sick, even die; financial
problems are real, and all sorts of very
difficult situations can come up. What then?
God tells us to give our concerns to him. Even
as the situation remains dismal, "Cast all your
anxiety on him, because he cares for you." 12
The circumstances may look out of control,
but they aren't. When the whole world seems
to be falling apart, God can keep us together.
This is when a person can be very grateful
that they know God. "The Lord is near. Be
anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. And the
peace of God, which surpasses all
comprehension, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus." 13 God may
provide solutions, resolutions to the problem
WAY beyond what you imagined possible.
Probably any Christian could list examples like
this in their own lives. But if the
circumstances do not improve, God can still
give us his peace in the midst of it. Jesus
said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give
to you; not as the world gives do I give to
you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let
it be fearful." 14
It is at this point (when circumstances are
still tough) that God asks us to continue to
trust him -- to "walk by faith, not by sight" the
Bible says. But it's not blind faith. It is based
on the very character of God. A car traveling
on the Golden Gate Bridge is fully supported
by the integrity of the bridge. It doesn't
matter what the driver may be feeling, or
thinking about, or discussing with someone in
the passenger seat. What gets the car safely
to the other side is the integrity of the bridge,
which the driver was willing to trust.
In the same way, God asks us to trust his
integrity, his character...his compassion, love,
wisdom, righteousness on our behalf. He says,
"I have loved you with an everlasting love,
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to
you." 15 "Trust in him at all times, O people.
Pour out your heart before him. God is a
refuge for us." 16
In Summary
God has offered to answer the prayers of his
children (those who have received him into
their lives and seek to follow him). He asks us
to take any concerns to him in prayer and he
will act upon it according to his will. As we
deal with difficulties we are to cast our cares
on him and receive from him a peace that
defies the circumstances. The basis for our
hope and faith is the character of God
himself. The better we know him, the more
apt we are to trust him.
For more on the character of God, please see
"Who is God?" or other articles on this site.
The reason we pray is God's character. The
first prayer God answers is your prayer to
begin a relationship with God.

dave91:Governor Masari gave the warning when his campaign train stormed Kusada Local Government Area of the state for his re-election bid.
He told the electorate that only politicians with proven integrity should be voted for at the state and national level in the upcoming elections.
According to him, “politicians who are known to be looters should not be allowed to return to power. The coming polls would be battle between good and evil, looters and non- looters, as well as men of questionable character and those with track records of sincerity and trustworthiness.
“It would not be wise if those with questionable character, including those that have ruled in the past, are allowed to come back and rule again.”
However, he called on the electorate to vote for All Progressive Congress, APC, candidates at both the federal and state elections for continuity.
Earlier, Chairman Masari re-election campaign, who is Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, called on the electorate not to be deceived into voting for anyone that would not represent their interests.

dave91:As Nigerians prepare for the Presidential and National As-sembly elections on February 16, the race for the Kwara Central Senatorial District will be the cynosure of all eyes as the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, will lock horns with Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe, a political archrival of many years. Oloriegbe, a former Majority leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Saraki is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.
Oloriegbe, who has contested against Saraki twice (2011, 2015) and lost in the two instances, told newsmen in Lagos yesterday that Saraki has ceased to be the candidate to beat in his constituency and come February 16, the Senate President will be beaten ‘silly’ at the polls. But the Senate President has described the doomsday prophecy as a daydream. Saraki described Oloriegbe as one of the ‘seasonal or visiting’ politicians in Kwara State who have no political value. In the 2011 polls, Saraki, then of the PDP, garnered 78,799 votes to defeat Oloriegbe, then of the ACN who scored 53,058 votes.
In the 2015 election, Saraki, of the APC polled 118,879 votes against Oloriegbe of the PDP, who polled 66,884 votes. “I will like to let everyone know that in today’s Kwara, Bukola Saraki is no longer the candidate to beat. It’s daylight in our state of harmony and we have seen the light, no more Saraki dynasty control over the politics and affairs of the people of Kwara State,” he said. Oloriegbe’s campaign to oust Saraki had been hinged on several issues, among them allegation that the Senate President had spent the last 16 years deepening the poverty level in his constituency instead of alleviating same. Oloriegbe claimed that the level of socio-economic challenges across the communities in Kwara Central Senatorial District and, indeed the entire Kwara State, had reached alarming proportions.

Popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji has taken to her social media space to reveal how she decided to end poverty after her parents were assaulted over 70 naira.

She wrote:

'I was 16. I was standing there watching the insult being hurled and a little assault over N70. I saw the sadness and embarrassment as they saw I was witnessing it.

They told me to leave but I refused and stood there and watched. After it was over I told myself as I walked home in tears; in this life, except there's no God, nobody will ever insult them again over money. I don't care how long it will take, but I will fight poverty with everything in me. The following year at 17, I started my hustle.

This smile is gratitude for how far I've come. For all the dreams that came through. For all the things I am grateful for and for all the amazing things that's about to happen (which will be announced soon). This smile is to encourage you not to give up on yourself no matter how hard it gets and to encourage you to fight poverty with everything you are. The view from where I am standing is amazing and I'd like for you to experience it. May your legit hustle pay off...and soon. Amen! '

Crisis seems to be lurking at the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) as the national leadership of the party has parted ways with its presidential candidate, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili.

The party Thursday responded to the announcement of withdrawal from the presidential race by Ezekwesili, saying it no longer recognises the former minister as its candidate.

Ezekwesili had earlier in the day announced her withdrawal from the 2019 presidential race, saying she would support an alliance against the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, ACPN said that it no longer shares the same aspiration with Ezekwesili.

In a statement signed by the National Chairman of ACPN, Abdulganiyu Galadima, the party said that it has resolved to endorse the APC presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.

US Politics / Re: Trump Walks Out Of Shutdown Meeting, Calling Talks 'total Waste Of Time' by lokoso: 05:03 am On 1 Jan 2019
horliquenet:
President Donald Trump walked out of discussions to end a partial government shutdown, now in its third week, calling discussions with congressional Democrats "a total waste of time."

"Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!" Trump said

Top congressional Democrats blasted Trump after the meeting Wednesday afternoon, accusing him of indifference to struggling federal workers and not trying to negotiate as the government shutdown drags on.
"Unfortunately, the President just got up and walked out," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said. "He asked Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi, 'Will you agree to my wall?' She said no. And he just got up and said, 'Then we have nothing to discuss,' and he just walked out. Again, we saw a temper tantrum because he couldn't get his way, and he just walked out of the meeting."
A source familiar with what happened inside the room said Trump ended the meeting by standing up and announcing "bye bye" before turning and walking out.
As Democrats repeatedly told the President to open the government and deal with the border security fight after, the President continued to reject them as unwilling to have an actual negotiation, another source said.
Schumer then asked Trump, "Why won't you open the government and stop hurting people?"
Trump responded bluntly, "Because then you won't give me what I want."
The meeting at the White House came just hours before the House of Representatives is expected to vote on individual bills to help reopen the government. The bills aren't expected to go anywhere in the GOP-controlled Senate at this time but the maneuver is aimed at putting pressure on Republicans. Trump promised earlier Wednesday to veto that legislation if it reached his desk.
Pelosi, speaking alongside Schumer outside the White House, said Trump was "insensitive" to federal workers missing pay during the shutdown and alluded to Trump's own privileged upbringing.
"He thinks maybe they could just ask their father for money, but they can't," Pelosi said.
She added, "If you don't understand financial insecurity then you would have a policy that takes pride in saying, 'I'm going to keep government shut down for months or years unless you totally agree to my position.' "
Top Republicans spoke to the media after the Democratic statements and took issue with their characterization of the meeting, though they did not dispute that Trump left the meeting. Among them were Vice President Mike Pence, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise and South Dakota GOP Sen. John Thune.
Notably, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell did not appear alongside them.
Pence said Trump told the Democrats "goodbye" after Pelosi denied his request for a wall, and contended the move made clear Trump would not end the shutdown without his border measures.
"What the President made clear today is he is going to stand firm to achieve his priorities to build a wall, a steel barrier on the southern border, add additional personnel, additional resources, additional reforms to stem the crisis that we face on our southern border," Pence said.
McCarthy likewise pushed back on the Democratic description of the meeting, noting that Trump "even brought a little candy for everybody." The exact candy was not specified but according to a source familiar at least one B*tterfingers was spotted as well as Baby Ruth bars and M&Ms.
The California Republican said Trump had gone back and forth with Pelosi and Schumer, and then eventually asked Pelosi, " 'OK, Nancy, if we open the government up in 30 days, could we have border security?' "
"She raised her hand and said, 'No, not at all,' " McCarthy recalled. "The President calmly said, 'I guess you're still not wanting to deal with the problem.' "
Wednesday's meeting came a day after Trump delivered an Oval Office address standing by his demand for Congress to fund his border wall with Mexico and Democrats continued to refuse the request. With no apparent end in sight to the disagreement, the shutdown was due to enter its 20th day.
This story has been updated with additional developments Wednesday.

jamslek:A single source of income is never enough. Investment in an alternative and reliable income stream is the wisest way of making financial progress in times of uncertainty.
Investments are time-based. Hence you need to be time conscious to enjoy the benefits. The following reasons highlight why you should invest your money early enough and with Darolls Nig Ltd.
www.investment.darolls.net
Darolls Investment offers you an amazing platform that allows your resources to work for you while you follow after other pursuits. You get up to 10% returns on your investments every 30 days! It's an opportunity for you to secure a legitimate second or third means of income and guarantee a better future quality of life. www.investment.darolls.net
You are a step ahead of others
Big things have small beginnings but they also have early starts. The earlier you invest, the better you are in relation to others around you and the edge you have in pursuing your life goals. You will be able to afford your needs when they arise and have little or no financial worries in future compared to people who don’t invest at all or invest later on in life
You can take risks
Volatile ventures have been known to yield the highest returns but a major reason you will be willing to invest in these is if you have time on your hands. This is why later investors are usually more careful with their financial investments and so cannot take the needed risks. At the end of the day, they are limited to regular returns because they can only invest in low risk ventures that yield low returns.

You increase your yields with compound interests
The interest you get on your interests is compound interest. It increases as you reinvest your yields. Investors that understand the advantages of compound interest invest early so that in the long run their money can earn compound interest.

Health / Re: Why Men Get Erection In The Early Morning by lokoso: 04:51 am On 1 Jan 2019
Exactly

Health / Re: Why Men Get Erection In The Early Morning by lokoso: 04:50 am On 1 Jan 2019
Genjina:
It’s an amusing, albeit often highly inconvenient, phenomenon that half of the world’s population has to deal with on a regular basis. So what’s the science story behind that morning glory? Let’s find out.

Morning glories, or nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) as they are correctly called, are spontaneous erections that occur during sleep or while waking up. All blokes without erectile dysfunction are graced with them and they normally occur around three to five times during sleep.

Image result for morning erections
NPT actually starts in utero, or in the womb (seriously), and continues throughout life. If it’s any consolation, men aren’t completely alone—women also get clitoral erectionsand V*g*nal engorgement during sleep, and various non-human mammals also get NPT, according to iflscience.com

While a few different theories have been proposed over the years to explain NPT, what causes it still remains uncertain. NPT, just like clitoral erections, is associated with REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. One idea is that during REM sleep, noradrenergic cells (neurons that release the neurotransmitter noradrenaline [norepinephrine]) located in an area of the pons (part of the brainstem) called the locus coeruleus are switched off.

Image result for morning erections
It is thought that these cells are associated with the inhibitory tone of the P*n*s; therefore, when their activity is reduced during REM sleep, testosterone-dependent excitatory tones can be expressed which result in an erection.

It’s also been suggested that NPT is triggered by the release of nitric oxide (NO). NO is released by cells that line the inside of blood vessels which then diffuses into smooth muscle, causing it to relax.

This also causes blood vessels to dilate, hence increasing blood flow to the P*n*s and voila, an erection. It’s thought that increased activity of part of the pons during REM sleep triggers a cascade of events that ultimately lead to NO release by nerve fibers. This is also regulated by androgens such as testosterone.

What causes morning wood?
According to healthline.com the cause of NPT is likely multifactorial. Doctors have a few theories that help explain why men wake up with an erect P*n*s from time to time, but none of these theories are supported by concrete, medical evidence. These theories include:

Physical stimulation
Though your eyes are shut, your body is still very much aware of what’s happening around you. If you or your partner accidentally touch or graze your genitals, you may become erect. Your body senses the stimulation and responds with an erection.

Image result for morning erections
Hormone shifts
Your testosterone level is at its highest in the morning after you wake up. It is highest immediately after waking up from rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stage. The increase in this hormone alone may be enough to cause an erection, even in the absence of any physical stimulation. As men get older, usually between ages 40 and 50, natural testosterone levels begin to fall. As this level decreases, episodes of NPT may decrease as well.

Brain relaxation
During your waking hours, your body releases hormones to suppress erections. When you’re asleep, your body releases less of those hormones. Combine this fact with the other reasons you may experience an erection in your sleep, and NPT becomes more likely.

What’s clearer is what doesn’t cause morning wood. For example, needing to urinate isn’t responsible for morning wood. Some people believe a morning erection keeps them from urinating during their sleep, but this is not true. Morning wood also isn’t always a sign of s*xual stimulation. In many cases, NPT isn’t caused by dreams or thoughts of a s*xual nature.

Who gets morning wood?
Men of all ages can experience NPT. It’s healthy at any age and is a sign of a properly functioning blood and nervous system in and around the P*n*s. Young boys may experience NPT as young as 6 to 8 years old. NPT may also occur in men in their 60s and 70s. It will become less frequent as ED issues begin to occur, and those issues become more frequent with age.

Men may experience an erection three to five times each night. Unrelated to what’s in your dreams, NPT can last up to and even longer than 30 minutes. Some men may experience an erection as long as two hours during their sleep. Most erections will ease within a few minutes of waking up.

Image result for morning erections
What does it mean if you stop getting morning wood?
Having an erect P*n*s when you wake is an indicator of healthy blood and nerve supply to the P*n*s. The presence of NPT also likely indicates that you’re physically capable of getting and maintaining an erection while awake.

If you stop experiencing NPT or notice that you’re not waking up with an erect P*n*s anymore, this may be an early sign of an underlying medical problem.

Most likely, this is a sign of physical erectile dysfunction (ED). You may have something happening within your body that’s preventing adequate blood or nerve supply for proper erectile function. You may be more likely to experience ED if you:

are overweight
have high blood pressure
have high cholesterol levels
have diabetes
have depression
Certain physical disabilities may also make ED more likely.

Medications may also affect your ability to experience morning wood. Painkillers and some antidepressant medications may prevent NPT.

NPT may become less common as you get older, but if you’re young and are not experiencing a morning erection or if your erections suddenly stop, it may be time to see your doctor.

When to see a doctor
Morning wood is healthy, and it’s rarely a reason to see your doctor. However, two situations may mean it’s time to make an appointment. These include:

You stop having morning wood
If you frequently experienced morning wood but now aren’t experiencing it at all or have fewer erections, you should talk with your doctor. While it’s natural for episodes of NPT to occur less frequently with age, a sudden drop in frequency may be a sign of an underlying medical problem.

You begin experiencing painful erections
Most morning erections will subside within 30 minutes of waking up. If your erections last more than hour after you wake up or if they become painful, you should make an appointment to see your doctor.

It’s hard to declare “too much” and “too little” when it comes to NPT. Some men experience a morning erection every day. Some experience is less than once a week. During your annual physical exam, talk with your doctor about how frequently you’re experiencing morning wood. If you’re not experiencing it enough, your doctor may be able to help diagnose a reason.

Image result for morning erections
The bottom line
Morning wood is very common. It’s an indication of normal blood and nerve supply to the P*n*s. Most young men will experience morning wood several times per week. As men grow older, however, they begin experiencing it less frequently.

If you stop experiencing NPT, this may be an early sign of an underlying medical problem. Pay attention to how often you experience morning wood and if it stops, speak with your doctor.

Weird News / Re: 2019 Election: 'we Will Not Endorse Any Presidential Candidate' - Can by lokoso: 08:16 am On 1 Jan 2019
Genjina:The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) will not endorse any presidential candidate in the forthcoming election, president of the group, Rev. Samson Ayokunle said.

Ayokunle urged Nigerians to vote according to the leading of the Holy Spirit and their consciences, adding that credibility and integrity should guide their choice. The Presidential election, along with National Assembly election will hold on 16 February. CAN made its position known in a statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Special Assistant, Media and Communications to the CAN president.

Ayokunle said CAN is for God and His people and is apolitical, non-partisan and impartial. “Our members cut across all political divides and some of them are even contesting for one post or the other including the Presidential. So, the idea of endorsing any candidate as favourite does not arise. We have not and will not endorse any candidate for any elective office in the country,” he said.

CAN recently held a meeting with 14 Presidential Candidates in Abuja for briefings on their plans for the nation. Ayokunle said at the end of the meeting, the association came out with a position not to endorse any of the candidates. The CAN president said the association recognises Nigeria’s multi-religious and multicultural composition and it is not in denial of these realities.

“However, in our federal system, it is crucial for all constituents to commit to respect the fundamental human rights of other groups as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended. It is against this background that CAN raise serious concerns with the candidates over the sustained violent attacks and persecution of the Church in Nigeria today.

CAN understands that if the principle of good governance (transparency, accountability, equity, inclusiveness and consensus building) are the hallmarks of governance, it would lead to accelerated development and prosperity for the people of Nigeria. This is our sincere desire, hope and prayer,” he said.

He said that the expectation of CAN was that whoever emerges as president and vice-president would address the myriad of critical national concerns and challenges. “In biblical times, God raised Prophets at different times to speak up against national leaders and policies that promoted injustice against the very people such leaders were called to serve. God placed the responsibility of the security and welfare of the citizens on leaders of nations. Nigeria cannot be an exception,” he said.

The cleric said the association noted with encouragement that the candidates interviewed subscribed to its (CAN’s) values as expected of the President of the Federal Republic. He added that actions should speak far louder than words if anyone of them is elected.

“To this end, CAN will watch closely as the character of the presidential candidates unfolds before, during and after the forthcoming elections,” he said. Ayokunle said that the Christian community is deeply concerned about the misfortunes that had befallen the Nigerian state in recent years. These concerns, which must never be swept under the carpet, make the strongest case for setting a standard for how responsible and well-meaning Nigerians should vote in the coming elections,” he stressed.

The CAN president urged all Christians to ensure they were in possession of their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), and use sound judgment in voting. Ayokunle said that they should ensure that sentiments were eschewed and wisdom was applied in making the decision on the ballot paper.

“Let us be circumspect and discretional. Above all, let the Holy Spirit of God direct you in the voting. Think about the greater good of Nigeria, and not primordial sentiments. All Christians are enjoined to remain vigilant during the voting exercise and promptly report any suspicious undertaking at voting centres,” he advised.

He urged all Christians to stay away from any violence or mob action, whatsoever, no matter the provocation. “Decency, lawfulness and godliness should guide us in any act of disagreement”, he said. The cleric said the choice of CAN remains any candidate who exhibits godliness, trustworthiness, sincerity of purpose, decency, patriotism, true commitment to national service and who would show care for the Christian community in the nation.

“Christians are called upon to vote credible and trusted candidates into the various elective positions. We must also be discerning about their policy and the understanding of policy details,” he said.
